In this work, we study a time-fractional ion sound and Langmuir waves system (FISLWS) with Atangana–Baleanu derivative (ABD). We use a fractional ABD operator to transform our system into an ODE. We investigate multiwaves, periodic cross-kink, rational, and interaction solutions by the combination of rational, trigonometric, and various bilinear functions. Furthermore, 3D, 2D, and relevant contour plots are presented for the natural evolution of the gained solutions under the selection of proper parameters.

A description is given of an application of a linear-quadratic regulator (LQR) for stabilizing the characteristics of an anti-aircraft missile, and an analytical method of selecting the weighting elements of the gain matrix in feedback loop is proposed. A novel method of LQR tuning via a single parameter ς was proposed and tested. The article supplements and develops the topics addressed in the author’s previous work. Its added value includes the observation that the solutions obtained are symmetric pairs, and that the tuning parameter ς proposed for the designed linear-quadratic regulator enables the selection of suitable parameters for the airframe stabilizing loop for the majority of the analytical solutions of the considered Riccati equation.

AbstractIn this paper, with the help of symbolic computation system Mathematica, six kinds of lump solutions and two classes of interaction solutions are discussed to the (3+1)-dimensional generalized Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation via using generalized bilinear form with a dependent variable transformation. Particularly, one special case are plotted as illustrative examples, and some contour plots with different determinant values are presented. Simultaneously, we studied the trajectory of the interaction solution.

This investigation deals with some exact analytical solutions of the incompressible second grade fluid by using the method based on the separation of variables. In many cases, this method can derive exact analytical solutions easier than other methods. A family of solutions is derived in this paper, which governs scientific and engineering experimentations. The derived solutions represent the flows having streamlines as a family of ellipses, parabolas, concentric circles, and rectangular hyperbolas. From practical point of view, these flows have applications in many manufacturing processes in industry. Some physical features of the derived solutions are also illustrated by their contour plots.

The [Formula: see text]-dimensional generalized Korteweg-de Vries (KdV)-type model equation is investigated based on the Hirota bilinear method. Diversity of exact solutions for this equation are obtained with the help of symbolic computation. We depicted the physical explanation of the extracted solutions with the free choice of the different parameters by plotting three-dimensional plots and contour plots. The obtained results are useful in gaining the understanding of high dimensional soliton-like structures equation related to mathematical physics branches, natural sciences and engineering areas.

ABSTRACT We report on a novel CTX-M extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL), designated CTX-M-42, with enhanced activity toward ceftazidime. CTX-M-42 was identified in a hypermutable Escherichia coli nosocomial isolate (isolate Irk2320) and is a Pro167Thr amino acid substitution variant of CTX-M-3. By molecular typing of ESBL-producing E. coli strains previously isolated in the same hospital ward, we were able to identify a putative progenitor (strain Irk1224) of Irk2320, which had a mutator phenotype and harbored the CTX-M-3 β-lactamase. To reproduce the natural evolution of CTX-M-3, we selected for ceftazidime resistance mutations in bla CTX-M-3 gene in vitro both in clinical isolate Irk1224 and in laboratory-derived hypermutable (mutD5) strain GM2995. These experiments yielded CTX-M-3Pro167Ser and CTX-M-3Asn136Lys mutants which conferred higher levels of resistance to ceftazidime than to cefotaxime. CTX-M-3Asn136Lys had a level of low activity toward ampicillin, which may explain its absence from clinical isolates. We conclude that the selection of CTX-M-42 could have occurred in vivo following treatment with ceftazidime and was likely facilitated by the hypermutable background.

This paper investigates the new solitons and closed form solutions to [Formula: see text] dimensional resonant nonlinear Schrödinger equation (RNLSE) that explains the behavior of waves with the effect of group velocity dispersion and resonant nonlinearities in the optical fiber. The soliton solutions in single and combined forms like dark, singular, and dark-singular in mixed form are extracted by means of two innovative integration norms namely extended sinh-Gordon equation expansion and [Formula: see text]-expansion function methods. Moreover, kink and closed form solutions are also observed under different constraint conditions. By choosing the suitable selection of the parameters, three dimensional, two dimensional, and contour plots are sketched. The obtained outcomes show that the applied computational strategies are direct, efficient, concise and can be implemented in more complex phenomena with the assistant of symbolic computations.

The topic of multibody analysis deals with the automatic generation and subsequent solution of the equations of motion for a system of interconnected bodies. Many academic and industrial computer programs have been developed to carry out this task. However, although some of these programs can obtain the equations of motion in fully symbolic form, it is believed that all the existing programs for multibody analysis solve these equations numerically. The idea behind the research which underpins this paper is to select and implement a symbolic version of an existing multibody algorithm and then to integrate it with a recently developed solver which can obtain approximate analytical solutions to the equations of motion. The present paper deals with the selection of this multibody method. The theory behind the chosen method (the Roberson and Schwertassek algorithm) is described in some detail but also in a much more concise form than can be found in the literature. In addition, a fully worked example of the application of the multibody algorithm to a practical physical problem is given. Such examples are rare in the literature, and so it is intended that this paper can serve as a basis for enhanced didactic practice in this traditionally difficult subject area.

We aimed to characterize the genetic constitution of natural T. cruzi populations involved in an Oral Chagas Disease (OCD) outbreak at a rural school of the community of Chichiriviche de la Costa, Venezuela, which affected patients did not respond to the etiological treatment. Peripheral blood samples and/or hemocultures were obtained from twenty-nine OCD patients at time of diagnosis or along nine years of Post-treatment (Tx) follow-up. The IgG serology, T. cruzi discrete typing units (DTU), satellite DNA-qPCR parasitic loads, and minicircle signatures were determined at Pre-Tx and after Tx. The serological titles and parasitic loads changed after treatment, with a significant decrease of IgG titers (Spearman’s r value= -0.961) and median parasite loads from 2.869 [IQR = 2.113 to 3.720] to 0.105 [IQR = -1.147 to 1.761] log10 par eq. /mL at Pre-Tx and Post-Tx, respectively, suggesting infection evolution from acute to chronic phase, without seroconversion or parasitological eradication, which was indicative of treatment failure. All patients were infected with T. cruzi DTU I populations. At Pre-Tx their median Jaccard genetic distances were 0.775 [IQR = 0.708 to 0.882], decreasing in genetic variability towards the end of follow-up (Mann-Whitney U test p= 0.0031). Interestingly, no Post-Tx minicircle signature was identical to its Pre-Tx counterpart population in a same patient, revealing selection of parasite subpopulations between the primary infection and Post-Tx. The parasitic populations isolated from hemocultures showed a lower number of bands in the minicircle signatures with respect to the signatures obtained directly from the patients’ blood samples, demonstrating a process of parasitic selection and reduction of the population variability that initially infected the patients. Decrease of parasitic loads after treatment as well as Pre- and Post-Tx intra-TcI diversity might be a consequence of both, natural evolution of the acute infection to the chronic phase and persistence of refractory populations due to Tx selection.

In this paper, abundant lump solutions and two types of interaction solutions of the (3+1)-D Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation are obtained by the Hirota bilinear method. Some contour plots with different determinant values are sequentially given to show that the corresponding lump solution tends to zero when the deter-minant approaches to zero. The interaction solutions with special parameters are plotted to elucidate the solution properties.
