The orbital maneuvers of the global navigation satellite system (GNSSs) have a significant influence on the performance of the precise positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services. Because the Chinese BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has three types of satellites in the geostationary orbit (GEO), inclined geosynchronous orbit (IGSO), and medium earth orbit (MEO) maneuvers occur more frequently. Thus, it is essential to determine an effective approach for the detection of orbital maneuvers. This study proposes a method for the detection of orbital maneuvers using epoch-differenced carrier phase observations and broadcast ephemeris data. When using the epoch-differenced velocity estimation as a basic data solution model, the time discrimination and satellite identification factors are defined and used for the real-time detection of the beginning and the pseudorandom noise code (PRN) of satellites. The datasets from four GNSS stations (WUH1, BJF1, POHN, CUT0) from the year 2016 were collected and analyzed. The validations showed that the beginning, the PRN of the orbital maneuver of the satellite can be precisely detected in real time for all GEO, IGSO, and MEO satellites, and the detected results also showed good consistency, with the beginning time at a difference of 1–2 min across different stations. The proposed approach was observed to be more sensitive, and the detected beginning time was about 30 min earlier than the single point positioning approach when the high-precision carrier phase observation was used. Thus, orbital maneuvering can be accurately detected by the proposed method. It not only improves the utilization of the collected data but also improves the performance of PNT services.

Purwarupa Differential Global Navigation Satellite System bertujuan untuk meningkatkan akurasi dari receiver GNSS, dengan menambahkan referensi stasiun lokal untuk menambah informasi yang diterima dari satelit. Differential Global Navigation Satellite System ini menggunakan metode real time kinematik yang berbasiskan pada carrier phase (besaran sudut) dalam penentuan posisi data secara relatif dengan tingkat ketelitian mencapai satuan milimeter. Sistem RTK menggunakan data pengamatan fase data atau koreksi fase dikirim secara seketika dari stasiun referensi ke receiver pengguna. Hasil dari purwarupa adalah resiver GNSS geodetik berbasis radio link yang bisa diprogram agar bisa menghasilkan raw data. Pemrograman menggunakan software RTKLIB seri b33 dengan aplikasi RTKnavi untuk logging data.

On May 2018 the world’s first dual-frequency Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) smartphone produced by Xiaomi equipped with a Broadcom BCM47755 chip was launched. It is able to receive L1/E1/ and L5/E5 signals from GPS, Galileo, Beidou, and GLONASS (GLObal NAvigation Satellite System) satellites. The main aim of this work is to achieve the phone’s position by using multi-constellation, dual frequency pseudorange and carrier phase raw data collected from the smartphone. Furthermore, the availability of dual frequency raw data allows to assess the multipath performance of the device. The smartphone’s performance is compared with that of a geodetic receiver. The experiments were conducted in two different scenarios to test the smartphone under different multipath conditions. Smartphone measurements showed a lower C/N0 and higher multipath compared with those of the geodetic receiver. This produced negative effects on single-point positioning as showed by high root mean square error (RMS). The best positioning accuracy for single point was obtained with the E5 measurements with a DRMS (horizontal root mean square error) of 4.57 m. For E1/L1 frequency, the 2DRMS was 5.36 m. However, the Xiaomi Mi 8, thanks to the absence of the duty cycle, provided carrier phase measurements used for a static single frequency relative positioning with an achieved 2DRMS of 1.02 and 1.95 m in low and high multipath sites, respectively.

In the traditional raw Doppler (RD) velocity estimation method, the positioning error of the pseudorange-based global navigation satellite system (GNSS) single point positioning (SPP) solution affects the accuracy of the velocity estimation through the station-satellite unit cosine vector. To eliminate the effect of positioning errors, this paper proposes a carrier-phase-based second generation of the BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS-2) precise point positioning (PPP) RD velocity estimation method. Compared with the SPP positioning accuracy of tens of meters, the BDS-2 kinematic PPP positioning accuracy is significantly improved to the dm level. In order to verify the reliability and applicability of the developed method, three dedicated tests, the vehicle-borne, ship-borne and air-borne platforms, were conducted. In the vehicle-borne experiment, the GNSS and inertial navigation system (INS)-integrated velocity solution was chosen as the reference. The velocity accuracy of the BDS-2 PPP RD method was better than that of SPP RD by 28.4%, 27.1% and 26.1% in the east, north and up directions, respectively. In the ship-borne and air-borne experiments, the BDS-2 PPP RD velocity accuracy was improved by 17.4%, 21.4%, 17.8%, and 38.1%, 17.6%, 17.5% in the same three directions, respectively, compared with the BDS-2 SPP RD solutions. The reference in these two tests is the real-time kinematic (RTK) Position Derivation (PD)-based velocity.

The technique of carrier phase (CP), based on the global navigation satellite system (GNSS), has proven to be a highly effective spatial tool in the field of time and frequency transfer with sub-nanosecond accuracy. The rapid development of real-time GNSS satellite orbit and clock determinations has enabled GNSS time and frequency transfer using the CP technique to be performed in real-time mode, without any issues associated with latency. In this contribution, we preliminarily built the prototype system of real-time multi-GNSS time and frequency transfer service in National Time Service Center (NTSC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which undertakes the task to generate, maintains and transmits the national standard of time and frequency UTC(NTSC). The comprehensive assessment of the availability and quality of the service system were provided. First, we assessed the multi-GNSS state space representation (SSR) correction generated in real-time multi-GNSS prototype system by combining broadcast ephemeris through a comparison with the GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) final products. The statistical results showed that the orbit precision in three directions was smaller than 6 cm for global positioning system (GPS) and smaller than approximately 10 cm for BeiDou satellite system (BDS). The root mean square (RMS) values of clock differences for GPS were approximately 2.74 and 6.74 ns for the GEO constellation of BDS, 3.24 ns for IGSO, and 1.39 ns for MEO. The addition, the GLObal NAvigation Satellite System (GLONASS) and Galileo satellite navigation system (Galileo) were 4.34 and 1.32 ns, respectively. In order to assess the performance of real-time multi-GNSS time and frequency transfer in a prototype system, the four real-time time transfer links, which used UTC(NTSC) as the reference, were employed to evaluate the performance by comparing with the solution determined using the GFZ final products. The RMS could reach sub-nanosecond accuracy in the two solutions, either in the SSR or GFZ solution, or in GPS, BDS, GLONASS, and Galileo. The frequency stability within 10,000 s was 3.52 × 10−12 for SSR and 3.47 × 10−12 for GFZ and GPS, 3.63 × 10−12 for SSR and 3.53 × 10−12 for GFZ for BDS, 3.57 × 10−12 for SSR and 3.52 × 10−12 for GFZ for GLONASS, and 3.56 × 10−12 for SSR and 3.48 × 10−12 for GFZ for Galileo.

<p class="04CorpodoTexto">Este artigo tem por objetivo aplicar geotecnologias para obtenção de informações planialtimétricas a fim de avaliar a viabilidade de implantação do campus Centro Histórico/Itaqui-Bacanga do IFMA. Considerando que para realização de levantamento por métodos tradicionais é recomendado que seja realizado o destocamento e a limpeza do terreno previamente, avaliou-se a realização do levantamento planialtimétrico a partir de um par de receptores <em>Global Navigation Satellite System</em> (GNSS) pelo método <em>Real Time Kinematic</em> (RTK) pós processado e também a partir da realização de levantamento fotogramétrico, utilizando aeronave remotamente pilotada (ARP), popularmente conhecida como drone. Esta análise permitiu demonstrar que o aerolevantamento com a ARP pode ser aplicado na concepção inicial de um projeto de engenharia, conforme classificação do Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) para níveis de precisão, pois obteve-se uma diferença orçamentária de 19% entre os projetos elaborados a partir das duas geotecnologias.</p><div> </div>

Real-time Precise Point Positioning (PPP) relies on the use of accurate satellite orbit and clock corrections. If these corrections contain large errors or faults, either from the system or by meaconing, they will adversely affect positioning. Therefore, such faults have to be detected and excluded. In traditional PPP, measurements that have faulty corrections are typically excluded as they are merged together. In this contribution, a new PPP model that encompasses the orbit and clock corrections as quasi-observations is presented such that they undergo the fault detection and exclusion process separate from the observations. This enables the use of measurements that have faulty corrections along with predicted values of these corrections in place of the excluded ones. Moreover, the proposed approach allows for inclusion of the complete stochastic information of the corrections. To facilitate modelling of the orbit and clock corrections as quasi-observations, International Global Navigation Satellite System Service (IGS) real-time corrections were characterised over a six-month period. The proposed method is validated and its benefits are demonstrated at two sites using three days of data.

The emergence of multiple global navigation satellite systems (multi-GNSS), including global positioning system (GPS), global navigation satellite system (GLONASS), Beidou navigation satellite system (BDS), and Galileo, brings not only great opportunities for real-time precise point positioning (PPP), but also challenges in quality control because of inevitable data anomalies. This research aims at achieving the real-time quality control of the multi-GNSS combined PPP using additional observations with opposite weight. A robust multiple-system combined PPP estimation is developed to simultaneously process observations from all the four GNSS systems as well as single, dual, or triple systems. The experiment indicates that the proposed quality control can effectively eliminate the influence of outliers on the single GPS and the multiple-system combined PPP. The analysis on the positioning accuracy and the convergence time of the proposed robust PPP is conducted based on one week’s data from 32 globally distributed stations. The positioning root mean square (RMS) error of the quad-system combined PPP is 1.2 cm, 1.0 cm, and 3.0 cm in the east, north, and upward components, respectively, with the improvements of 62.5%, 63.0%, and 55.2% compared to those of single GPS. The average convergence time of the quad-system combined PPP in the horizontal and vertical components is 12.8 min and 12.2 min, respectively, while it is 26.5 min and 23.7 min when only using single-GPS PPP. The positioning performance of the GPS, GLONASS, and BDS (GRC) combination and the GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo (GRE) combination is comparable to the GPS, GLONASS, BDS and Galileo (GRCE) combination and it is better than that of the GPS, BDS, and Galileo (GCE) combination. Compared to GPS, the improvements of the positioning accuracy of the GPS and GLONASS (GR) combination, the GPS and Galileo (GE) combination, the GPS and BDS (GC) combination in the east component are 53.1%, 43.8%, and 40.6%, respectively, while they are 55.6%, 48.1%, and 40.7% in the north component, and 47.8%, 40.3%, and 34.3% in the upward component.

Surface movement and deformation induced by underground coal mining causes slopes to collapse. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) real-time monitoring can provide early warnings and prevent disasters. A stability analysis of high-steep slopes was conducted in a long wall mine in China, and a GNSS real-time monitoring system was established. The moving velocity and displacement at the monitoring points were an integrated response to the influencing factors of mining, topography, and rainfall. Underground mining provided a continuous external driving force for slope movement, the steep terrain provided sufficient slip conditions in the slope direction, and rainfall had an acceleration effect on slope movement. The non-uniform deformation, displacement field, and time series images of the slope body revealed that ground failure was concentrated in the area of non-uniform deformation. The non-uniform deformation was concentrated ahead of the working face, the speed of deformation behind the working face was reduced, the instability of the slope body was increased, and the movement of the top of the slope was larger than at the foot. The high-steep slope stability in the mine was influenced by the starting deformation (low stability), iso-accelerated deformation (increased stability), deformation deceleration (reduced stability), and deformation remaining unchanged (improved stability).
