This article provides a discussion of the results of studies on the original system condition monitoring of a three-stage transmission with a bevel–cylindrical–planetary configuration installed in an experimental scraper conveyor. Due to the high vibroactivity of gear transmissions operating under the impact of a scraper conveyor’s chain drive, these unwanted effects of machine operating vibrations were assumed to be applied. For purposes of the study, vibrations were measured on the driving transmission housing in an idling scraper conveyor. The main purpose of the study was to establish the frequencies characteristic of the gear transmission, and to determine whether it was possible to run vibroacoustic diagnostics of the same transmission under conditions with a considerable impact of the conveyor chain. An additional cognitively significant research goal was the analysis of the dependence of the diagnostic utility of the signal depending on the sensor mounting point. Five different locations of three-axis sensors oriented to the next stages and various types of gears were determined, as well as places characterized by high spatial accessibility, which are often selected as places for measuring the vibration of gears. Using MATLAB software, a program was written that was calibrated and adapted to the specifics of the measuring equipment based on the collected test results. As a result, it was possible to obtain a multidimensional data interpretation of vibration signals of system condition monitoring of a three-stage gear transmission operating under difficult conditions. The results were based on signals registered on the real three-stage gear transmission operating under the impact of a scraper conveyor’s chain drive.

In many cases, it is impractical to measure the vibrations directly at or close to their source. It is a common practice to measure the vibration at a location far from the source for condition monitoring purposes. The vibration measured in this way inevitably has high distortions from the vibrations due to the effect of the attenuation of signal paths and the interference from other sources. The suppression of the distortions is a key issue for the remote measurements based condition monitoring. In this paper, the influences of transducer locations are investigated on a typical gearbox transmission system for the detection of the faults induced to the gearbox. Several signal processing techniques’ analysis results show that the attenuation and interference cause high influences on the gear transmission signals. However, time synchronous average (TSA) is very effective to detect the local faults induced to the gear system.

Backlash is a key internal excitation on the dynamic response of planetary gear transmission. After the gear transmission running for a long time under load torque, due to tooth wear accumulation, the backlash between the tooth surface of two mating gears increases, which results in a larger and irregular backlash. However, the increasing backlash generated by tooth accumulated wear is generally neglected in lots of dynamics analysis for epicyclic gear trains. In order to investigate the impact of backlash generated by tooth accumulated wear on dynamic behavior of compound planetary gear set, in this work, first a static tooth surface wear prediction model is incorporated with a dynamic iteration methodology to get the increasing backlash generated by tooth accumulated wear for one pair of mating teeth under the condition that contact ratio equals to one. Then in order to introduce the tooth accumulated wear into dynamic model of compound planetary gear set, the backlash excitation generated by tooth accumulated wear for each meshing pair in compound planetary gear set is given under the condition that contact ratio equals to one and does not equal to one. Last, in order to investigate the impact of the increasing backlash generated by tooth accumulated wear on dynamic response of compound planetary gear set, a nonlinear lumped-parameter dynamic model of compound planetary gear set is employed to describe the dynamic relationships of gear transmission under the internal excitations generated by worn profile, meshing stiffness, transmission error, and backlash. The results indicate that the introduction of the increasing backlash generated by tooth accumulated wear makes a significant influence on the bifurcation and chaotic characteristics, dynamic response in time domain, and load sharing behavior of compound planetary gear set.

Although the residential property market has strong connections with various sectors, such as construction, logistics, and investment, it works through different dynamics than do other markets; thus, it can be analysed from various perspectives. Researchers and investors are mostly interested in price trends, the impact of external factors on residential property prices, and price prediction. When analysing price trends, it is beneficial to consider multidimensional data that contain attributes of residential properties, such as number of rooms, number of bathrooms, floor number, total floors, and size, as well as proximity to public transport, shops, and banks. Knowing a neighbourhood's key aspects and properties could help investors, real estate development companies, and people looking to buy or rent properties to investigate similar neighbourhoods that may have unusual price trends. In this study, the self-organizing map method was applied to residential property listings in the Trójmiasto area of Poland, where the residential market has recently been quite active. The study aims to group together neighbourhoods and subregions to find similarities between them in terms of price trends and stock. Moreover, this study presents relationships between attributes of residential properties.

In this paper, the stationary response of a van der Pol vibro-impact system with Coulomb friction excited by Gaussian white noise is studied. The Zhuravlev nonsmooth transformation of the state variables is utilized to transform the original system to a new system without the impact term. Then, the stochastic averaging method is applied to the equivalent system to obtain the stationary probability density functions (pdfs). The accuracy of the analytical results obtained from the proposed procedure is verified by those from the Monte Carlo simulation based on the original system. Effects of different damping coefficients, restitution coefficients, amplitudes of friction and noise intensities on the response are discussed. Additionally, stochastic P-bifurcations are explored.

Bearing failure is one of the foremost causes of breakdown in rotating machinery. To date, Envelope detection is always used to identify faults occurring at the Bearing Characteristic Frequencies (BCF). However, because the impact vibration generated by a bearing fault has relatively low energy, it is often overwhelmed by background noise and difficult to identify. Combined the results of extensive experiments performed in a series of bearings with artificial damage, this research investigates the effect of many influencing factors, such as demodulation methods, sampling frequency, variable machine speed and the signals collected in different directions, on the effectiveness of demodulation and the implications for bearing fault detection. By understanding these effects, a more skillful application of the envelope detection in condition monitoring and diagnosis is achieved.

Background:Vaccination is one of the most effective public health interventions. We investigate the impact of vaccination activities for Haemophilus influenzae type b, hepatitis B, human papillomavirus, Japanese encephalitis, measles, Neisseria meningitidis serogroup A, rotavirus, rubella, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and yellow fever over the years 2000–2030 across 112 countries.Methods:Twenty-one mathematical models estimated disease burden using standardised demographic and immunisation data. Impact was attributed to the year of vaccination through vaccine-activity-stratified impact ratios.Results:We estimate 97 (95%CrI[80, 120]) million deaths would be averted due to vaccination activities over 2000–2030, with 50 (95%CrI[41, 62]) million deaths averted by activities between 2000 and 2019. For children under-5 born between 2000 and 2030, we estimate 52 (95%CrI[41, 69]) million more deaths would occur over their lifetimes without vaccination against these diseases.Conclusions:This study represents the largest assessment of vaccine impact before COVID-19-related disruptions and provides motivation for sustaining and improving global vaccination coverage in the future.Funding:VIMC is jointly funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) (BMGF grant number: OPP1157270 / INV-009125).
