End energy user is dependent on fossil fuel-based main-grid and contributes toward greenhouse gasses (GHG) emissions. Changing its energy source will change the dynamics of the power plant, contribution towards GHG production. This case study aims to highlight the minute but positive role of a single end energy user, invisible to the main grid in GHG mitigations through photovoltaic energy source, selected among Pakistan’s top 10 most populous cities as per census 2017. Quetta is a selected city in Pakistan as the best fit location based on annual average daily solar radiations (AADSR) data retrieved from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) meteorological data. Helioscope software is used to select −15° tilt and 180° azimuthal angles, which further increased Quetta’s AADSR value from 5.54 kWh/m2/d to 5.93 kWh/m2/d. For research significance, a realistic approach is undertaken by proper selection of solar panel type based on Quetta’s annual average temperature, load categorization, user selection and inputs from a solar energy expert. Finally, initial cost, investment and GHG mitigation analysis are carried out in RETScreen Expert software, which validates the minute but the prominent role of a single, end energy user by mitigating 122 tons of CO2 in 25-year project life span. Further, the proposed project favors end-user financially by recovering its $4501 initial cost in less than four years by effectively meeting its energy demand and saving $1195 per annum.

Abstract Background End energy user relies on fossil fuel-based national grid to meet their energy demand; hence, indirectly contributing towards greenhouse gases (GHG) emission and causing climate change. This study aims to investigate the minute role of a single, end energy user in GHG mitigation by shifting to the green renewable energy source, photovoltaics (PV) through its techno-economic analysis. Method For the study impact, NASA Meteorological Data is used to select an ideal single energy user equipped with 10 kW PV system based on annual- average daily solar radiations and temperature through MATLAB/Simulink, among eleven populous cities of Pakistan. Helioscope software is used to select tilt and azimuthal angle to expose PV surface for most of the solar radiations. Afterwards, RETScreen software is used for cost, financial and GHG analysis. Results and Conclusion The proposed system at single end energy user mitigates 6.9 tonnes of CO2 per annum while producing 16,832 kWh per annum and recovering its 7337$ capital cost in less than five years in the project’s 25-year life span. A single energy user invisible to national grid can play a pivotal role in GHG mitigations while earning from its investment and achieving energy independency from the main grid at the same time.

There is a gap of knowledge between practitioners about the off-site construction. For this reason, the Manni Group case study presented in this article highlights the positive role of dissemination as business value proposition support in the context of off-site construction industry. The Manni Group involved opinion leaders, professionals, universities and industrial partners in a network of dissemination that, going beyond the concept of advertising, it generated a multiple effect of value creation between the direct and indirect involved stakeholders. Dissemination emerges as a model of action that creates impacts on cultural change. It is scalable and applicable in many areas where actors have the right competences to manage the dissemination. Wherever there is a knowledge gap or friction towards new techniques and methodologies, the model is able to create value for companies and stakeholders involved in the emerging network.

In the last years, as a result of environmental concerns, changes in lifestyle during the COVID-19 crisis, the role of healthy buildings in addition to the main lighting design principles are highlighted. Therefore, today’s lighting design issues include social well-being, mental well-being, and physical well-being more than we discussed in the last century. Hence, we are familiar with occupant-centric and performance-based metrics for residential and non-domestic buildings. The study analyses the extended occupancy patterns, daylight availability, and annual lighting energy demand through a case study in Bursa, Turkey including the COVID-19 pandemic scenario.

A framework of predictions in ungauged basins (PUBs, taking Paniai lakes watershed, Indonesia as an example) for hydropower exploration is developed. In this framework, remote sensing technology and similar watershed method are used to collect necessary meteorological and topographical data for runoff simulation. Besides, a modified physical based distributed hydrological model is developed to consider the characteristics (regulation capacity of the lakes) of the watershed. Finally, considering the modeling purpose, annual average runoff index is used to assess the modeling results. In the case study (Paniai lakes watershed), TRMM precipitation, HWSD soil type, and AVHRR landcover data, combined with meteorological data from two similar watersheds, are collected to drive the modified hydrological model. According to the model results, the simulated potential evapotranspiration capacities and annual average runoff coefficients are consistent between the two cases (modeling with meteorological data of the two similar watersheds), and the simulated annual average runoff coefficients of the two cases are basically consistent with the observed annual average runoff coefficient of another similar watershed located in Indonesia.

This study aimed to analyze the role of the irung-irung tradition in strengthening civic engagement of the younger generation of Cihideung Village. This study used a qualitative approach with the case study method. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, and literature studies. The results showed that the traditional irung-irung procedure: praying together, marching to water resources, custom ceremonial process, sacrificing animals, eating together, and closing prayers, the younger generation’s involvement in the irung-irung tradition was more focused on the aspect of democracy through the positive role it plays, not yet at the traditional level, the strategy for strengthening the engagement of the younger generation was through the empowerment of youth and utilizing information and communication technologies.

In order to achieve climate change mitigation goals, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from Japan’s household sector is critical. Accomplishing a transition to low carbon and energy efficient consumer goods is particularly valuable as a policy tool for reducing emissions in the residential sector. This case study presents an analysis of the lifetime of personal vehicles in Japan, and considers the optimal scenario in terms of retention and disposal, specifically as it relates to GHG emissions. Using data from Japan, the case study shows the critical importance of including whole-of-life energy and carbon calculations when assessing the contributions that new technologies can make towards low carbon mobility transitions. While energy-efficiency gains are important, replacing technologies can overlook the energy and carbon embedded in the production phase. Without this perspective, policy designed to reduce GHG emissions may result in increased emissions and further exacerbate global climate change.

Pakistan came into being on the basis of two nation theory. There are number of subjects that are offered as compulsory at the secondary level of education. Islamic education is one of the subject that is compulsory at school level in Pakistan. Being a religious subject for Muslim students studying in Pakistani schools, it is considered to be important in character building. In this study, an attempt has been made to analyze the effectiveness of Islamic education in the educational system and gauge students’ perspectives on Islamic education as a character building tool. Survey method has been used to seek the objectives of the study. The population of the study includes students of secondary schools in District SBA. The Data has been collected through personal visits by giving questionnaires to students. The Percentage has been used in the analysis of the data. Major findings of the study suggest that Islamic education helps the students to become good citizen and plays a positive role as agents of social change in their local communities. This qualitative research with case studies aims to analyze the role of parents in inclusive education at SD SERUMA Sleman. This type of research is qualitative with a case study design. In accordance with the research design, the subject was Seruma Elementary School in Sleman Regency. Collecting data using interview and documentation techniques. The validity of the data was done by confirming the results of observations and interview documents. The data credibility test is done by extending observations, increasing persistence, and references. The results showed that the role of parents in inclusive education is implemented in a participatory and collaborative manner. The positive role of parents can have a strong influence on the implementation of inclusive schools. These results indicate that the role of parents and schools and teachers to be involved in the process of implementing inclusive education is very supportive of the creation of better and meaningful inclusive learning.

In this paper, a modeling framework to quantify the reduction of potential greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions when using solar-powered Wi-Fi as an internet access point is developed and tested. This framework includes newly developed MATLAB code and the use of the ATOLL tool for energy consumption and network optimization, respectively. A practical case study is described with scenarios enabling different signal coverage on a university campus. These scenarios are based on technical requirements, including number of access points, budget link, and access duration. Four hundred tons of GHG can be reduced each year if solar Wi-Fi is deployed in solar campuses, which represents 5.5 × 10−5 percent of the total GHG produced by the telecommunications sector. A direct relationship between the number of access points and coverage signal quality on the one hand and energy consumption on the other hand is established. We use this case study to forecast the potential GHG mitigation if a wider deployment of the community Wi-Fi is achieved. This methodology could also be used to estimate GHG reductions when other wireless technologies are deployed.
