With the rapid development of various coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines in a bid to counter and contain the COVID-19 pandemic, unusual and uncommon side effects of COVID-19 vaccination have been increasingly reported in the literature. Ipsilateral lymphadenopathy is a fairly common side effect of vaccination of any kind, with its etiology most commonly related to reactive lymphadenopathy. However, Kikuchi–Fujimoto Disease (KFD) or necrotizing histiocytic lymphadenitis is rarely observed post-vaccination, with only one other case of KFD post COVID-19 vaccination reported to date. We report two more cases of KFD post COVID-19 vaccination in the Asian population, highlighting the clinical course and salient clinical, radiological and histologic findings. In addition, we provide a literature review of the existing cases of lymphadenopathy post COVID-19 vaccination with cytologic and/or histologic correlation.

Abstract Background The Covid-19 pandemic has led to rapid development of Covid-19 vaccine. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recently reported increase in myopericarditis incidence post Covid-19 vaccination. Post-vaccination myo-pericarditis as side effect has been reported however is infrequent. We described a case of pericarditis post- first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Case Summary A patient presented with typical symptoms of pericarditis and related ECG and echocardiogram changes, 7 days post receiving the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. No other causes were identified from series of investigations. Patient had good symptomatic relief with non-steroidal anti- inflammatory medication. Conclusion The incidence of pericarditis post-vaccination is rare, with limited reporting in previous literatures. No causal relationship has yet to be established due to small number of cases. The benefits of Covid-19 vaccination currently outweigh the side effect profile and recommended as the first line approach to control the current pandemic.

Ovarian vein thrombosis (OVT) is a rare medical disorder, which is most often found in the immediate postpartum period. OVT is rarely considered idiopathic. We report a case of idiopathic OVT with pulmonary embolism in a 33-year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain. Computed tomography and postoperative pathology confirmed the diagnosis of idiopathic OVT. To date, only 12 cases of idiopathic OVT have been reported. In this case report, we present a summary of these cases and a review of literature regarding management of idiopathic OVT.

Hematuria is a critical symptom that should properly be investigated. One of the rare causes is renal papillary hypertrophy. Literature review revealed only few reported cases. Biopsy in reported cases has shown hyperplasia of renal papillae with normal histology. We report a case of bilateral renal papillary hypertrophy in a 32 years old female presented with intermittent gross hematuria. Computed tomgraphy urography, cystoscopy and selective cytology did not show any positive findings. Retrograde flexible uretero-renoscopy showed enlarged renal papillae protruding into upper and middle calyces of both kidneys with clots and active bleeding in some. Holmium:YAG Laser ablation of hypertrophic papillae showed an effective minimally invasive management of the condition.

ABSTRACT Lateral swivel dislocation, a subtype pattern of dislocations occurring at mid tarsal joint is a rare type of injury. A medially or laterally directed force applied to the forefoot causes dislocation of the talonavicular joint but not subtalar joint. The calcaneum alongwith the remaining foot swivels on the intact interosseous talocalcaneal ligament. The present case report is a more rare lateral swivel type of dislocation of talonavicular joint in a 25-year-old male. mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines such as BNT162b2 have recently been a target of anti-vaccination campaigns due to their novelty in the healthcare industry; nevertheless, these vaccines have exhibited excellent results in terms of efficacy and safety. As a consequence, they acquired the first approvals from drug regulators and were deployed at a large scale among priority groups, including healthcare workers. This phase IV study was designed as a nationwide cross-sectional survey to evaluate the post-vaccination side effects among healthcare workers in Slovakia. The study used a validated self-administered questionnaire that inquired about participants’ demographic information, medical anamneses, COVID-19-related anamnesis, and local, systemic, oral, and skin-related side effects following receiving the BNT162b2 vaccine. A total of 522 participants were included in this study, of whom 77% were females, 55.7% were aged between 31 and 54 years, and 41.6% were from Banska Bystrica. Most of the participants (91.6%) reported at least one side effect. Injection site pain (85.2%) was the most common local side effect, while fatigue (54.2%), headache (34.3%), muscle pain (28.4%), and chills (26.4%) were the most common systemic side effects. The reported side effects were of a mild nature (99.6%) that did not require medical attention and a short duration, as most of them (90.4%) were resolved within three days. Females and young adults were more likely to report post-vaccination side effects; such a finding is also consistent with what was previously reported by other phase IV studies worldwide. The role of chronic illnesses and medical treatments in post-vaccination side effect incidence and intensity requires further robust investigation among large population groups.

In response to the raging COVID-19 pandemic, Bangladesh started its vaccine administration in early 2021; however, due to the rapid development and launch of the vaccines in the market, many people had concerns regarding the safety of these vaccines. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the side effects that were experienced by the Bangladeshi residents after receiving the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield vaccine (ChAdOx1nCoV-19). The study was conducted using both online and printed questionnaires and the data were analysed using SPSS. The results included the responses of 474 vaccine recipients from March–April 2021. Pain at the site of injection, fever, myalgia, fatigue and headache were the most commonly reported symptoms, and the overall side effects were found to be significantly more prevalent in the younger population (p ≤ 0.05). These findings were consistent with the results indicated by the clinical trial of ChAdOx1nCoV-19. Logistic regression analysis further revealed that compared to people aged 70 years or above, the incidence of reported side effects was significantly higher in people aged 18–30 years (odds ratio (OR) = 8.56), 31–40 years, (OR = 5.05), 41–50 years (OR = 4.08), 51–60 years (OR = 3.77) and 61–70 years (OR = 3.67). In addition, a significantly higher percentage of female participants suffered from post-vaccination side effects compared to males (OR = 1.51). It was concluded that the Covishield vaccine was well-tolerated among people of different age groups. Nevertheless, further long-term follow-up study with a larger sample size is warranted to establish the long-term safety of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Vasopressin has long been used in myomectomy to decrease blood loss. Its efficacy is beyond doubt. But at the same time it is known to cause some of the serious cardiovascular side effects. We here report a case of severe bradycardia and impending cardiac arrest caused by intra-myometrial infiltration of 12 U of vasopressin and present a review of literature.

The drug of choice for treatment of giardiasis in children has changed over the past several years. Metronidazole (Flagyl) has been found to be carcinogenic in mice and mutagenic in bacteria,1 and is, therefore, no longer approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of giardiasis. Thus, quinacrine hydrochloride (Atabrine) is the recommended alternative drug for the treatment of giardiasis in children. The purpose of this report is to remind physicians of a common side effect of quinacrine hydrochloride and to call attention to a simple clinical method for its confirmation. CASE REPORT S.W., a 3-year-old white boy, had a three-week history of three to six loose, watery bowel movements per day.
