Information technology, artificial intelligence and other innovative areas of economic development allow manufacturers to reduce their operating costs by improving resource planning. Optimizing supply chain management (SCM) can improve the efficiency of all business processes in an organization, while reducing costs and increasing financial sustainability.

An efficient supply chain management helps to increase the productivity of a business. Use of information technology and concepts like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cloud computing have integrated the different aspects of supply chain with its stakeholders. Published literature in the field of SCM, IT, and the pharmaceutical industry has been reviewed, and different aspects of innovation, technique, risks, advancements, factors, and models have been taken into consideration to form a comprehensive chapter focusing on the role of information technology in the supply chain management of the pharmaceutical industry. The chapter finds that IT has made a significant impact in improving the efficiency of SCM. But its successful implementation and collaboration with other firms is the key to success for an efficient SCM. Within each category, gaps have been identified.

A dominant trend in information technology is the convergence of different software functionalities. Even after the dot-com bust or, perhaps because of it, the convergence has gathered steam. Different tools and techniques get concentrated in one solution or software in a short duration. Distinct techniques and technologies, such as accounting software, Web-based businesses, supply chain management, data warehouses and artificial intelligence, are converging as the organizations move from ERP to ERP II, integration of internal functions to integration across supply chain, and the Internet to Internet 2. Today’s ERP software packs all applications into one monster package and offers tremendous functionalities.

This study investigates the impact of enhanced enterprise resource planning (ERP) on firm performance through green supply chain management, supplier integration, and internal integration. The population is the manufacturer domiciled in East Java, Indonesia, which has implemented ERP and been certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in the environmental management system. Data collection used a questionnaire designed with the five-point Likert scale. Of 243 manufacturers, 150 questionnaires were distributed, and 135 questionnaires are considered valid for analysis. Data analysis used smart PLS software. The result indicated that all eight predetermined hypotheses were supported. Enhanced ERP affects supplier integration, internal integration, and green supply chain management. Internal integration affects green supply chain management and firm performance. Supplier integration affects green supply chain management and firm performance. Green supply chain management affects firm performance. An interesting finding is that green supply chain management, internal integration, and supplier integration mediate the effect of enhanced ERP on firm performance. This study’s novelty lies in the research model that analyzes the relationship between the four constructs simultaneously with the green supply chain management, internal integration, and supplier integration as a mediating variable. The research provides an insight for the manager on how to improve the firm performance in supply chain management. This study could also contribute to the current research in supply chain management.

The paper describes the principle of the reengineering of supply chain management integrated scheduling processes in order to increase in efficiency of business process and decrease the decision-making time at collision of plan-fact deviations. The basic concept of business-processes reengineering is analyzed. The experience of reengineering of supply chain integrated scheduling business processes for the oil and gas branch is presented. The bottlenecks of the current practice were revealed. The purpose of this paper is to carry out recommendations for improving business processes based on an analysis of the current realization of the process, his provision with information systems and data flows.
