The last two decades have seen an exponential growth in the fields of electronic communication and information technology. Not surprisingly, ICT devices have become an integral part of our daily life. As demands for the development of more compact and versatile devices arise, there is mounting pressure on the designers to efficiently use the available resources. The new age ICT has become a matter of serious concern for the environment due to increased power consumption by the devices, the backbone infrastructure and eventual electronic waste disposal. This chapter describes techniques to reduce power consumption in ICT by reducing power at the very basal level of usage, which is the hardware. Careful architecture and design in hardware that keeps the principles of carbon reduction in mind can not only increase the efficiency of the device but also help in making it a green device. The primary focus of the chapter is to reduce the power utilized in the computation part of the device. The chapter also provides a background to other studies being carried out to reduce power consumed by the device as a whole.

Abstract SHM is a monitoring system which uses sensors, actuators and data transmission, acquisition and analysis, permanently integrated with the inspected object. The objective of SHM is to detect, localize, identify and predict development of fatigue fractures, increasing safety and reliability. This paper presents an assessment of sensor technologies used in aircraft SHM system. Due to the fact that most of these measurement methods are relatively new and still under development the present appraisal focuses on a number of parameters with reference to each method, including a sensor’s installation issues, reliability, power consumption, sensor infrastructure, sensitivity and cost and availability. The work is predominantly focused on the assessment ofpermanently bonded sensors, such as foil strain gages, Comparative Vacuum Monitoring (CVM), Piezo sensors (PZT), Eddy-Current Transducers (ECT). Finally, all these methods are briefly discussed.

Since the advent of information technology (IT) is continuously increasing, energy consumption is on the rise, which forces the global world to be directed toward green IT. The Joulemeter program developed by Microsoft used to make the comparisons between computers types. The results showed that laptops consume less power than desktops, and CO2 emissions of the laptop are about 4.5 times less than desktop emission. A questionnaire was developed to evaluate green IT readiness from the perspective of the IT employees. The data collected from 401 IT employees. The results showed the dimension maintenance gain the highest average, which indicates the IT employees realize that the maintenance is an important factor for green IT readiness. The factors, technology, practice, attitude, and maintenance, have an agree degree of agreement; the factors, policy, governance, and green IT readiness, have neutral degree of agreement. The governance has the highest correlation and influence on green IT readiness. The study recommends organizations setup strategies for implementing green IT.

Cloud Computing has been viewed as the cutting edge design of Information Technology. The Cloud worldview included points of interest and its potential for diminishing expenses and time for an administration that favors towards security issues. Distributed computing is an accumulation of data technology(IT) that offered to the client dependent on renting. In spite of the fact that countless security issues are tended to, in any case some are not tended to and a few calculations are proposed for security issues. This paper shows an on the Power Consumption of utilizing our refreshed H-HABE calculations and contrast and the different encryption systems. A similar report made on a few encryption systems are utilized for power utilization in the cloud. At long last, the significant measurements like Power Consumption issues present in distributed computing are examined

In order to overcome the limitation, some traditional distance measurement methods in some special occasions go beyond measure flaw. This design centres on P89LPC932 and realizes non-contact air measurement by use of an ultrasonic sensor, which fully considers the close relationship of velocity and temperature, thus temperature compensation, further get measurement distance about 700cm, optimal precision at 1%. This design has some features, such as the strong anti-jamming capability, simple installation, small size, low power consumption, easy to embed in other system.
