This study investigates the determinants of the corporate dividend policy in the context of agency relation. The analysis of the study has based on the random sample of eighty firms from the listed companies in Pakistan, for the period of eight years ranging from 2003 to 2012. Stepwise multiple regressions have used to investigate for the relationship of ownership variables with the dividend payouts. The empirical results suggested that there has a negative relationship between the dividend payouts and managerial share ownership and thus these are alternative tools that can be used to minimize the agency problem. And also where there has positive relationship between the institutional suggested that the higher has their shareholdings the higher will be the firm dividend payouts that will leads to less availability of the cash flows with the opportunities managers to expropriate the shareholders wealth.

Ownership structure is considered to be of prime importance in corporate governance of a firm. The ownership structure significantly varies across the nations. The main focus of this chapter is twofold: firstly to see the impact of ownership structure on performance of the firm and secondly to investigate the relationship between stock market performance and ownership structure during the crisis period. Panel data analysis of CNX 200 companies has been done for the time period of 2006-2013.The study also takes into account the relationship between crisis period stock return and ownership structure. The results of this study reveal a positive relationship of promoter's shareholding with performance while a negative relationship of performance is found with the non-promoters shareholding. The regression of stock price performance on ownership variable gives a significant negative relationship during the crisis period.

This paper explores the relationship between ownership structure and dividend policy in Russian public companies with dual-class shares. The sample includes all companies issuing both ordinary (voting) and preferred (non-voting) shares traded on the Russian Trading System (RTS) in the period of 2003-2009. Using panel data and employing both linear and nonlinear regression modeling approach, we tested the relationship between ownership structure and dividend payout. One of the major conclusions is the existence of a negative relationship between the dividend payout on ordinary shares and institutional ownership, as well as between dividend payout on ordinary shares and offshore ownership. Unlike for ordinary shares, ownership structure is not related to dividend payments on preferred shares. Dividend policy on preferred shares is, instead, essentially related to a company’s performance.

Abstract Background: Female household heads are faced with many more problems than men due to their multiple concurrent roles. The present study was conducted to determine the relationship of supportive roles with mental health and satisfaction with life in female household heads using a structural equations model. Methods: The present descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 286 eligible female household heads in Karaj, Iran, in 2020, who were selected by convenience sampling. Data were collected using VAX social support, the perceived social support scale, the general health questionnaire (GHQ), and the satisfaction with life questionnaire plus a socio-demographic checklist, and were analyzed in SPSS-16 and Lisrel-8.8.Results: The participants’ mean age was 43.1±1.7 years. According to the path analysis results, satisfaction with life had the highest direct positive relationship with perceived social support (B=0.33) and the highest indirect positive relationship with age (B=0.13) and the highest direct and indirect positive relationship with education and social support (B=0.13). Also, mental health had a direct negative relationship with satisfaction with life (B=-0.29), an indirect negative relationship with social support, and both a direct and indirect negative relationship with perceived support (B=-0.26).Conclusion: Based on the results, supportive roles had a negative relationship with mental health and a positive relationship with satisfaction with life in female household heads. Accordingly, given the status and role of women in the health of family members and the community and the greater vulnerability of this group, further attention and support should be directed toward these women by the government and relevant organizations.

The relationship of fear of COVID-19, resilience, and religiosity in the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, which affects life in many areas of psychological, social, economic, cultural, religious, has been examined in this study. In this study, 337 people, including 219 women (65%) and 118 men (35%), participated. The present research was a descriptively based quantitative study based on the relational survey model. COVID-19 Fear Scale, Brief Resilience Scale and Religiosity Scale were used to collect data. In addition, a Personal Information Form was used to obtain information and opinions about COVID-19 and determine demographic characteristics. The t-test, correlation and regression analysis were used in statistical processes. The findings obtained in this research showed that women have more fear of COVID-19 than men, and men have higher resilience and religiosity scores than women. In addition, it was observed that there was a significant and negative relationship between the fear of COVID-19 and resilience, religiosity and age, a significant and positive relationship between resilience and religiosity and age, and a significant and positive relationship between religiosity and age. Finally, it was found that resilience, religiosity and age together were predictors of COVID-19 fear. However, when looking at the t-test results of the significance of the regression coefficients, it was seen that only resilience was a significant predictor of COVID-19 fear. The findings obtained are discussed in light of the literature.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship of altruistic and egoistic motives with person- and organization-oriented citizenship behaviors as mediated by affective commitment. The author hypothesized that altruistic motives are positively associated with person-oriented citizenship behavior and affective commitment while egoistic motives are positively associated with organization-oriented citizenship behavior and negatively associated with affective commitment. Design/methodology/approach – The data were collected from 248 middle and senior managers from 20 different locations of a power generation organization in India. Self- and other reported method were used to collect the data by administering the questionnaires. Findings – Results of structural equation analysis have supported, with some exception, the hypotheses. Affective commitment has mediated the relationship between motives and both forms of citizenship behavior. However, altruistic motives had shown a negative relationship with affective commitment and had a positive relationship with person-oriented citizenship behavior. Meanwhile, egoistic motives had a positive relationship with affective commitment and organization-oriented citizenship behavior. Practical implications – Results suggest that organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs) per se is not important rather motives play an important role during the performance appraisal process. Further there is a differential impact of altruistic and egoistic motives on employees’ attitude and behavior, and both can coexist in this process. Originality/value – This is the first study on the relationship of motives, affective commitment and OCBs in India.

The ownership structure of large Russian companies is characterized by a high share of state participation, but the relationship of dividend policy with the ownership structure (public or private) is not defned. Statistical analysis of the Russian companies shows that this relationship exists and can be nonlinear. In the course of the regression analysis, the authors tested hypotheses about the existence of a negative relationship between the volume of dividends paid and the share of state participation. We use panel data from nonfnancial companies listed in the Moscow stock exchange from 2008 to 2016, who paid dividends during this period; 150 companies in total. Three specifcations were tested: the frst one uses the dividend payout ratio as a dependent variable; the second — the share of dividends in the free cash flow; the third has a quadratic form — the nonlinear dependence of dividend payout ratio and share of state participation. Control variables were based on life cycle theory. Testing has shown that in the linear form there is no statistically signifcant relationship between the indicators of dividend payouts and the share of state participation. We have shown that the relationship between the dividend payout ratio and the share of government participation is non-linear and has the form of an inverted u-shape parabola. For a low level of state participation the dependence is positive but for a high level of participation, it is negative. This result can be explained in the framework of the agency theory: a positive relationship indicates the use of dividend payouts to resolve the agency conflict; a negative — the concentration of money in the hands of managers due to minority shareholders weakness. Further development of the study may include the addition of institutional constraints to the model, as well as the expansion of the concept of the dividend policy outcome within the framework of the frm’s sustainable development theory.

This study empirically examines the relationship between corporate sustainable management (CSM) and dividend policy. Among the various motivations related to dividends, this study examines the relationship between CSM and dividend policy based on the agency and signaling theory. After examining the relationship between CSM and dividend policy, we investigate whether belonging to a large business group (chaebol group) has a significant effect on the relationship between CSM and dividend policy. The analysis period is from 2011 to 2018, and the ESG ratings of the Korea Corporate Governance Service are used as proxies for CSM. The empirical results show that CSM and dividends have a significant relationship in the positive direction. This means that firms with excellent CSM activities have higher dividend levels than those that do not. Furthermore, the association between CSM and dividends is more negative for firms belonging to a chaebol group. This indicates that the positive relationship between CSM and dividends in a firm that belongs to a chaebol group is weakened. This means that the relationship between CSM and dividends in the group belonging to the chaebol group is weakened. It belongs to the group of conglomerates, meaning that the relationship between the amount of dividends and CSM weakened. Our study focuses on CSM as a determinant of dividends, and examines the effects of belonging to a chaebol group in the relationship between CSM and dividends. Given that resolving the interest incompatibility between investors and managers is the focus of corporate governance, dividend policies can be used as a method for resolving the interest incompatibility between investors and managers.

Introduction: The implementation of qualified sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain (5S) is a significant factor to prevent the occurrence of occupational accidents in companies with a high-risk level of occupational accidents, such as being exposed to falling objects or tripped with objects, especially in departments that handle goods or materials. This research aims to identify the enactment of 5S as occupational accidents preventions in the logistic department at PT. X. Metods: This research is descriptive-analytic research which describes the company policy regarding the employment of 5S and the characteristics of the workers in the logistic department at PT. X. Moreover, this research also intends to analyze the strength of the relationship between the workers’ characteristics based on the correlation coefficient value by using the cross-sectional approach. The data is in the form of secondary data obtained by using questionnaires and interview. Results: It has been noticed that there is a qualified policy regarding the implementation of 5R in the form of technical instructions and the SOP of the company that has been well-enacted. Majority of the workers in the logistic department at PT. X is between 15-30 years old with high school educational attainment and has been serving in the company for <6 years. It is also perceived that all workers in the logistic department have a good 5S understanding level and good attitudes toward the implementation of 5R. However, there is a difference in the direction of the relationship of the variables analyzed; one is a negative relationship while the other is a positive relationship. Conclusion: It can be affirmed that PT. X has implemented 5S in a good way, seen from the understanding level of the workers regarding 5S or the attitude of the workers in implementing 5S, particularly in the logistic department. This is also proven by the company policy on the enactment of 5S that has been well-carried out. Keywords: 5S implementation, logistic, occupational accidents
