This empirical study focuses on private university students’ perceptions regarding the advantages and limitations of web-based blended learning using a learning website. The focus is on the use of a learning website as an additional learning method combines with the traditional face to face learning instructions. This new method of learning is known as Blended Learning. It is transforming learning and teaching in higher education institutions. The sample consist of 40 randomly picked university students from various programs. Two questions raised: (1) What are students’ perceptions of the advantages of web-based learning? (2) What are students’ perceptions regarding the limitations of web-based learning? The results indicate clear advantages of this new experience in broadening students’ views on different methods of learning. Furthermore, this study highlighted that the learning web serves as helpful simulations in which enable students to experience the real learning experience and enable students to interact with each other virtually. The component on advantages gathered students’ feedback on how the learning website provides an environment for more effective learning strategies. However, several research findings showed some gaps and limitations that need to be handled wisely. This paper is to discover the roles and challenges of web-based learning on students’ learning.

Blended learning is not just simply combining online learning with face-to-face learning. It is dynamic and context dependent. It can be viewed from different contexts and perspectives. Different context has different needs and characteristics. It needs different blend of blended learning. But, blended learning has one same ultimate goal, i.e. to determine the most appropriate blend to make optimum learning experience occur. Recent literatures and studies showed that e-learning and blended learning are synonymous with synchronous and asynchronous learning. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a conceptual model of blended learning design and its definition viewed from the perspective of those learning setting. This conceptual model, called quadrant of blended learning. It consists of four quadrants, i.e.: 1) quadrant 1: live synchronous learning; 2) quadrant 2: virtual synchronous learning; 3) quadrant 3: collaborative asynchronous learning; and 4) quadrant 4: self-directed asynchronous learning. As a conceptual model, it is expected that it can provide framework and idea for instructional designers in designing effective blended learning strategies.

Blended learning became the most popular educational model that universities apply for teaching and learning. This model combines online and face-to-face learning environments, in order to enhance learning with implementation of new web technologies and tools in learning process. In this paper principles of DeLone and Mclean success model for information system are applied to Kano two-dimensional model, for categorizing quality attributes related to satisfaction of students with web based learning system used in blended learning model. Survey results are obtained among the students at “Mediterranean” University in Montenegro. The (dys)functional dimensions of Kano model, including Kano basic matrix for assessment of the degree of students’ satisfaction level, have been considered in some more detail through corresponding numerical, graphical, and statistical analysis.

This study investigates the Mechanical Engineering students’ perspectives on their E-learning experience using SPADA as the primary platform in learning English, including understanding its features and material delivered, difficulties during the learning process, and suggestions to improve the quality of learning English through SPADA ITN Malang. As the Indonesian government requires every school and institution to begin implementing E-learning, starting from March 2020, in the National Institute of Technology (ITN) Malang, all learning activities that have been performed conventionally converted into virtual learning using the web-based learning management system named SPADA ITN Malang. The findings show that SPADA ITN Malang has positive appraisal by the students in accessibility, comprehension, and satisfaction aspect. However, the difficulties found, which were internet connection and the lack of understanding of the material, should be addressed with suitable learning strategies to create a better English learning environment for the non-English department students.

The use of web based learning in primary schools has been neglected. The aim of the study is the design of a hybrid web based learning model for primary school mathematics especially in the teaching and learning of perimeter and areas. It is indicated in a study in I calculus teaching and learning at a higher institution by Naidoo (1998) that students have fundamental problems in understanding pre-concepts such as perimeter and areas which are taught in primary schools and that the Piagetian pre-formal and formal stages have not been developed. ti Primary school learners' first encounters with mathematics in a traditional learning environment often create lifelong 'math phobia' (Papert, 1980). The situation in a country I emerging from an oppressive education system designed to educationally disempower the I majority of the population is much worse. The typical scenario in a previously disadvantaged South African primary school is a classroom filled beyond capacity with the educator struggling to establish an effective learning environment. Thus the educator I resorts to rote learning, drill and practice and 'chalk and talk' methods of teaching. The I individual needs and levels of learners are disregarded and blanket assessment methods I are employed (Naidoo and Naidoo, 2006b). Collaborative learning is minimal or nonexistent. These traditional teaching strategies often disregard cultural and social factors, and pre-knowledge frames of learners. Furthermore there is a dire shortage of qualified mathematics educators in the South African schooling system. Therefore there is an urgent need for alternative teaching and learning strategies to address the teaching of mathematics in primary schools.

In the era of digital learning, multimedia-based classroom has been commonly used in higher education including Malaysian higher education institutions. A case study has been performed to evaluate web-based learning using Level 1 to 3 of Kirkpatrick's model in a multi-disciplinary course at Multimedia University, Malaysia. In this study, mixed method research was employed in which triangulation was performed from multiple sources of data collection to give deeper understanding. Students perceived that learning with multimedia was enjoyable. They were also motivated in learning and engaged through the use of web module as multimedia was perceived to motivate them and make learning fun. Students showed significant improvements in their knowledge based on the pre-test and post-test results on learning evaluation. Students were perceived to transfer the learning from web-based learning into the learning outcome. The systematic evaluation can provide the feedback that educators and institution as a whole need to improve the learning environment and programme quality. This study contributes to the research field by adding another perspective in evaluations of web-based learning. It also provides empirical evidence on student perspectives, learning and behaviour in a private university. It demonstrated that the Kirkpatrick's model is useful as an evaluation tool to be used in higher education.

This chapter showcases how the collaborative learning and teaching strategy known as Team-Based Learning™ (TBL) can deliver against the conceptual components within active blended learning (ABL), through exploration of different case studies from the authors' university. It begins by detailing the core concepts and theories underpinning each pedagogic approach before considering how adoption of TBL is consistent with the wider implementation of ABL. Case histories are used to highlight how these approaches enhance the student learning experience and how learning technologies can enable staff to do more of what they value within the classroom. The value of different learning spaces to facilitate TBL and augment the learning experience for both staff and students is considered. Finally, the chapter explores some of the more difficult questions around the lack of broader uptake of TBL within an institution committed to ABL as its standard approach to learning and teaching.

In this chapter it is argued that blended learning with web-based support by the Moodle e-learning environment based on social constructivist learning theory is an effective tool for teaching and learning ergonomics and human factor issues for future managers. The author has eight years experience of computer based teaching and learning. The author`s own teaching experience of the Moodle e-learning environment for creating and providing courses in Tallinn University of Technology (TUT), in Tallinn School of Economics and Business Administration at TUT, will be presented. According to the questionnaires given to students at the end of each course, the teaching and learning in the Moodle e-learning environment as blended learning is very useful for development of a learning culture and efficiency. The efficiency and motivation for learning are higher than providing traditional methods of learning. New possibilities and dimensions for teaching and learning are opening.

Much research has shown that the blended learning can effectively enhance the motivation, communication skills, and learning achievement compared with teaching in a single form. However, a crucial issue in blended learning is how to integrate each blended format, media and experience into a coherent learning model, and then to keep interaction between teacher and students either in or outside the classroom. This study introduces a highly interactive strategy for blended learning that incorporates web-based and face-to-face learning environments into a semester course through answering the warm-up questions before class, interactive teaching in class, and review and exercise after class. By the empirical study in a ‘Data Structure’ class, most students made progress in learning achievement and gain more motivation and interaction within the class.
