This study was aimed to find out the size distribution of scad (Decapterus spp) caught by Likupang fishermen and to find out theirgrowth patterns. Fish samples were collected by traditional purse seine fishermen in Likupang waters. Total catches were 139 individuals consisting of 89 D. macarellus and 50 D. macrosoma. The former was dominated by size of 19.2-20.6 cm, while the latter was dominated by size of 13.1-14.1 cm. Length-weight relationship analysis showed that the growth patterns of D. macarellus and D. Macrosoma were isometric meaning that the increase in length is consistent with weight gain. Keywords: Likupang, Decapterus spp and growth patternsABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui distribusi ukuran ikan layang (Decapterus spp) yang ditangkap oleh nelayan Likupang and untuk menduga pola pertumbuhannya. The length-weight and condition factor can be used as an indicator of the condition for fish growth and to determine the suitability of the environment. The research objective was to evaluate the relationship between length-weight and condition factor of Hamilton's thryssa fish (Thryssa hamiltonii) from Pabean Bay West Java Indonesia. The researchers have been carried out to analyze the two essential parameters: the lengthweight relationship that can be used to evaluate and investigate stock density and condition factor of Hamilton's thryssa fish (Thryssa hamiltonii). A total of 195 fish samples were collected over the 8th month from the sea estuary and measured and weighed during a field survey conducted from April to December 2015. Samples of fish were collected using gillnet and set net. The total length of the fish ranged from 47-186 mm, with body weights ranging from 0.47 - 45.37 g. The results of the length-weight relationship were shown as regression was Y = 7E-07 X3.4339 or W = 7.45 x 10−7.L3.43389, and the condition factors ranged from 0.77 to 1.39. These research results indicated that the growth pattern of Hamilton's Thryssa fish (Thryssa hamiltonii) was positive allometric.

Molluscs are important for ecological function, livelihoods and fisheries, but are often forgotten in research and management. Here, we investigated intra-annual variation in the landing and growth patterns of three mollusc species, i.e., Corbicula moreletiana, Pila virescens and Pila ampullacea, using one-year daily data on landing catches and values, recorded in Kampong Chhnang province of Tonle Sap (TS) Lake. Overall, 8330 tonnes with a first sale landing value of US$ 1.4 million for the three species were reported. Also, we found that C. moreletiana was abundant during the dry season with high temperature and less precipitation. By contrast, the two Pila species were abundant from the early rainy to early dry seasons when precipitation and water levels increase. The length–weight relationship analysis indicated that a faster growth in weight of Pila species occurred in the rainy season, and a general negative allometric growth was observed for the three species. This implies that their populations were intensively fished. Our preliminary results suggest that molluscs in the TS Lake (i) are important resources in support of people's livelihoods, (ii) respond differently to intra-annual variation in temperature, precipitation and hydrology and (iii) are being intensively exploited with significant reduction in growth rate. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further comprehensive research describing status of mollusc stocks and their ecology to support long-term management and conservation of this important aquatic fauna. Our study contributes to establishing the first important baseline data and information on key mollusc species for the TS.

The present study investigated catch and size composition of Etroplus suratensis (Bloch, 1790), based on the data collected from two main fishing practices common in the Vembanad Lake, South India. Both the fishing practices viz., gillnetting and scare line fishing were in vogue round the year and the landings showed considerable variations. E. suratensis constituted 49% of the gillnet landings, while scare line fishing is exclusively for this species. In Kumarakom region of the lake, the estimated annual landings of E. suratensis by scare line and gillnet varied from 14,369 to 30,232 kg and 1,747 to 2,142 kg respectively during the study period. Size distribution studies showed that young ones constituted a significant proportion of gillnet landings, whereas subadults and adult fishes were more in scare line catch. Length-weight relationship showed isometric growth pattern with b values of 2.890 and 2.700 for gillnet and scare line fishing respectively.

Portunus pelagicus (blue swimming crab) is one of the important economical marine commodities produced from Indonesian coastal waters that has increasing market demand among fishery commodities. The purpose of this research is to reveal the relationship of carapace width and weight, the growth pattern and the carapace width-weight ratio of P. pelagicus crabs at two different research sites in Manado Bay. The benefits of this study, can be a reference for further studies on blue swimming crabs, P. pelagicus, and information obtained in this study could become important information needed for the maximum sustainable utilization of blue swimming crab, P. pelagicus. This research was conducted at two locations, namely Kelurahan Bahu, Sub-district of Malalayang with coordinates of 1 ° 27'49.86 "North and 124 ° 49'35.79" East and second location in Tumumpa Dua, Sub-district of Tuminting with coordinates 1 ° 31'14.51"North - 124 ° 50'28.67"East. Samples of blue swimming crabs were collected by deploying traps which are placed at 5-7 meters with the distance between traps 10 meter. Traps were placed at 17.00 pm and lifted on the next day at 06.00 am. Measurement of the width of the carapace conducted by using the ruler with 0.1 cm accuracy and weight measurement using the scales with 0.1 gram accuracy. The correlation value obtained for the wide and weight relationship of blue swimming crabs in the Sub-district of Malalayang is 0.953 for males and 0.898 for females. In Kelurahan Tumumpa Dua, Sub-dis ittrict of Tuminting 0.829 for males and 0.920 for females respectively. Based on these values the increase in the width of the carapace will affect the weight gain of the crab. The growth pattern of P. pelagicus crab in Kelurahan Bahu, Sub-district of Malalayang and Tumumpa Dua Sub-district Tuminting showed negative allometric growth pattern with b <3 value which means faster carapace growth compared to the weight of crab. From the result of chi square test on wide body and weight relationship analysis, is found same for both locations with value x2 table = 7.815 <x2 count = 112.3134. This is presumably due to one of the external factors is the availability of food. Kata  kunci : Rajungan,  Pola pertumbuhan, Teluk Manado.
