The article has analyzed the benefits and barriers of creating the Sino-Russian free trade based on the legal documents governing the formation of the Silk Road taking into account features of the economies’ development at the current stage. The main trading partners of the Russian Federation among the far-abroad countries have been identified. The structure of exports-imports of the Russian Federation with the foreign trade partners among the APEC countries has been analyzed, including the structure of the trade between China and Russia, and the volume of bilateral trade between countries. The article has analyzed the state of trade cooperation between Russia and China by industries, and also assessed the competitiveness of the trading environment of the Silk Road countries. The authors have compared the parametric characteristics of Russia and China, and also forecasted the changes in the commodity structure of imports and exports for the Russian-Chinese foreign trade relations.

This article provides an analysis of China ‘s initiative called the New Silk Road, which involves stimulating the economy of the People ‘s Republic of China by accelerating the delivery of goods to Europe and generally improving the transport situation. It is noted that the strategy for Russia to realize its transit potential could be the operational preparation of international transport corridors on its territory and effective diplomacy to convince neighbouring rival countries to join Russian projects, to develop proposals for them on favorable conditions of foreign trade relations and transportation of goods through the territory of the Russian Federation.

Foreign trade relations between Russia and China are now evolving in fairly unusual difficult conditions. So, only over the past six years, many negative processes have been noted in the system of international commodity exchange that have influenced the dynamics of bilateral trade partners. The article analyzes the most relevant and important problems and trends that have manifested themselves in the foreign trade relations of the Russian Federation and China - two strategic partners - over the past six years (2013-2018). It reveals the main trends and development prospects in the positions of individual countries - members of the European Union in foreign trade with Russia. The article shows the dynamics in the main directions of Russia's foreign trade against the background of economic sanctions. It examines the dynamics of Russia's foreign trade with China, carries out an analysis of trade relations between Russia and China after the Ukrainian crisis. During the study, the article uses methods of comparative and statistical analysis.

The article considers the dynamics and structure of foreign trade of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia, as well as the impact of tariff preferences on foreign trade between two countries. The analysed measures were: dynamics of the Russian Federation’s exports to the Republic of Serbia, dynamics of the Russian Federation’s imports from the Republic of Serbia, tariff preferences applied between countries. The article provides statistical data on the dynamics and structure of foreign trade of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia for 2010–2019 and their dependence on the application of tariff preferences, as well as indicators of trade between the EAEU and the EAEU member states with the Republic of Serbia for 2017–2019. The paper analyses the possible directions of Serbia’s participation in the EAEU and the European Union, assesses the benefits of creating a free trade zone between the EAEU and Serbia, as well as the costs of Serbia’s integration into the European Union. The importance of tariff preferences in the development of foreign trade relations between Russia and Serbia is shown.

Regulation of international trade relations is an essential part of international policy. The article provides a classification and describes the features of the main trade and economic unions of countries, analyzes measures and tools for organizing international trade and protecting domestic agri-food markets of countries that are members of these unions, and also reveals the principles on which their work is based. We consider the effect of certain regulatory measures for countries where food exports or imports play a significant role in their economy. Examples are given of situations in which countries or unions decide to use certain tools. The example of the Russian Federation shows how the use of tools for regulating foreign trade operations affects the domestic market and describes the obstacles that Russian food exporters may face when entering international markets.

This paper analyzes the consequences of the diplomatic conflict that began in 2014 between the European Union and the Russian Federation caused by the political and military crisis in Ukraine. In March 2014, the leaders of the European Union condemned the actions of Russia in Ukraine and imposed the first restrictive measures against Russian Federation. In turn, Russia took retaliatory measures materialised in an import ban on certain agricultural food products from the EU. The aim of this research is to identify and evaluate the impact of the sanctions and countersanctions on the economy of the Russian Federation and on bilateral trade between Russia and EU member states. This article will focus on the following main objectives: analyzing the evolution of trade relations between the two major powers in the period 2014-2019, determining the factors that may explain the decline in bilateral trade during the period mentioned above and the factors that may explain why some EU Member States have suffered higher losses than others. This article examines the prospects _ for the implementation of the Chinese project “New Silk Road" and assesses the degree of influence of this project on the economic well-being of partner states. Using the examples of the implementation of individual stages of the New Silk Road, the author examines geopolitical shifts that affect trade relations, the existing global_ financial system, including the declared interests in the distribution of world resources between countries. The “New Silk Road" project makes it possible to determine the degree of the Russian Federation’s interest in participation, as well as to identify key issues in the _ field of cooperation and economic interaction between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.
