Thanks to a relationship of mutual interdependence developed between the formulation of the internationalization strategy and innovation, on a larger scale they are entitled as decisive factors in the process of lasting growth of SMEs. The aim is to study the connections between internationalization, innovation and strategy as well as the results in terms of business competitiveness, covering a relatively consistent gap in terms of knowledge and inconclusive or even diffuse interactions regarding these interactions. In terms of internationalization, innovation and strategy, failure rates are quite high and have correspondingly consistent costs for companies. These are related to implementation details. Assuming there is a poor implementation of internationalization, innovation and strategy and to the extent that firms examine in detail each dimension of their business, they will tolerate an increase in costs. Even in these conditions, contrary to their weight, many SMEs do not have structured processes and protocols for internationalization, innovation and strategy. In entrepreneurial micro-enterprises, which is the main object of research, this aspect is particularly important and real. Identifying the tools used by companies to design the processes of development and implementation of internationalization, innovation and strategy, determinants and causes is very important to identify the main factors with particular impact on business performance and how these effects act or occur.

The present paper attempts to deal with two classical themes in a new and fresh context. The amount of works on leadership and entrepreneurship is vast, but the authors identified a gap in the research of these concepts in relation with tech start-ups, a domain that developed significantly in the recent period. The authors performed a detailed literature review, followed by an interview with a selected panel of entrepreneurs in Romania. The results of the study highlights few important trends related to the leadership traits of Romanian entrepreneurs. The results also confirmed a positive mindset and attitude which triggers an optimistic outlook for the Romanian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Even if in Europe the costs of the transition to a green economy are reflected in the final consumer’s bills and in the prices of finished products - an effect already felt in the Community - the necessity to clean up the economy cannot be disputed. However, Europeans need to determine if the priority is to give up conventional energy or to develop the green energy production, because it is becoming increasingly clear that the two objectives cannot be achieved simultaneously without affecting the purchasing power of Europeans. Within this context, the study involves: a) the statistical analysis of the impact of the conventional energy overtaxation and the renewable energy subsidization on the average price charged by suppliers for final consumers on the Romanian market in the first three quarters of 2021 and b) to identify the correlation coefficient between the spot price for energy on the Romanian market and the share of renewable energy in the national mix for the same period. The objective of the research is to assess the costs paid by the final consumers within the context of the energy transition and the production capacity of renewable sources that must be added to the National Energy System for their amortization. The results show the importance of the Black Sea basin in the regional energy equation and its potential to become a point of attraction for European energy investments.

This article represents an empirical research on the competitiveness of the European Union Member Countries. The main objective is to analyze the level of competitiveness of these countries, focusing on the situation of the new non-Eurozone member countries. At the same time, we want to identify the main measures to stimulate competitiveness. The research methodology we applied is based on critical comparative analysis, statistical data and econometric analysis. The results showed that there are large gaps in competitiveness between the new EU Member Countries that are not part of the Eurozone and the EU-28 average, and even larger compared to the performers Netherlands and Germany, gaps that in the current conditions will be very difficult to be reduced. Research has also shown that ICT adoption do not have a significant impact on the competitiveness indicator, and the main factors influencing this indicator are innovation capability, financial system, institutions, business dynamism, product market and skills. Thus, we believe that for a sustainable growth of competitiveness and for meeting the economic objectives, developing countries must adopt concrete measures to develop these fundamental pillars of competitiveness.

This paper analyzes the consequences of the diplomatic conflict that began in 2014 between the European Union and the Russian Federation caused by the political and military crisis in Ukraine. In March 2014, the leaders of the European Union condemned the actions of Russia in Ukraine and imposed the first restrictive measures against Russian Federation. In turn, Russia took retaliatory measures materialised in an import ban on certain agricultural food products from the EU. The aim of this research is to identify and evaluate the impact of the sanctions and countersanctions on the economy of the Russian Federation and on bilateral trade between Russia and EU member states. This article will focus on the following main objectives: analyzing the evolution of trade relations between the two major powers in the period 2014-2019, determining the factors that may explain the decline in bilateral trade during the period mentioned above and the factors that may explain why some EU Member States have suffered higher losses than others. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, both qualitative and quantitative analyses were used. Official documents, academic articles and studies conducted by various prestigious think-tanks were analysed. Also, th

This paper’s objectives are the following: describing the impact of the COVID 19 crisis on the mechanism of export-import operations; the evolution of Romania’s export-import activities during 2020-2021 and identifying some recommendations meant to help companies fight the sanitary crisis’ effects. The study is based on a theoretical research investigating the impact of the sanitary crisis on the management of an export-import operation. Due to disruptions in global supply chains, the companies operating in the field of international trade had to redefine their operating strategies for the foreign markets. The magnitude of these changes related to the transactional mechanism specific to export-import activities will lead to profound mutations in the global supply chain, with benefits in term of resilience in all phases of the supply chain.

The risks derived from climate change and the social inequalities of the economic model en-danger the continuity of society as we know it. The investment community is developing financial products in order to channel the environ-mental and social transition process, with green bonds and social bonds being key instruments to facilitate the change of model. In just a few years, investments made in assets that respect environmental sustainability, social responsibility and good management practices have in-creased from 12% to 42% of total investments made by investors around the world. The current paper it is intended to discuss the regulation and evolution of green bonds since its inception in 2007, globally and nationally, focusing on the principles of implementation, benefits and role of the COVID-19 pandemic in issuing green bonds.

IAS/IFRS represent a set of global accounting standards that have gained a tremendous influence over national standards, regulations and organisations all across the globe. Romania’s argument for being an interesting research case is given mainly by its longer experience with the standards over other countries in the region. Through this study, my aim is to highlight the arguments in favour of IAS/IFRS over the national GAAP by conducting a survey, addressed to the employees of the biggest 7 accounting firms in Romania.

The EU seeks to affirm itself as a major actor within the realm of international relations, trying to promote key democratic values throughout its network of diplomatic missions. Thus, EU’s foreign and internal policies are constructed as to commonly represent member states in global issues as a well-defined political entity of its own. It is through these lenses that we can observe the ways in which EU’s efforts, to remain a major global actor, are diminished because the entity lacks the force (self-reliant army) through which it could efficiently represent its military interests. The only military might, at EU’s disposal, being member state’s own troops, which can be deployed in emergency-related situations through the common security policy. As such, there are some foreign and defence ministers from the community block which are demanding, after the Afghanistan chaotic developments, an increased military independence for both the EU and its intervention forces. On a similar tone, Josep Borrell Fontelles, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, believes that it is the right time for EU to form its own military corps. Furthermore, overseeing the emerging security contexts, to which NATO responded by engaging into an ample transformation and adaptation process, we can underline some key developments, which showcase the need to revaluate EU’s military efforts, especially in terms of using its capabilities and capacities as a primordial source of credibility. As citizens’ security remains one of Brussels’ main objectives, and one of the primordial European institutions’ responsibilities, they have put forward and accepted, almost two decades ago, the European Security Strategy, which has established, for the first time, tangible goals, and objectives when it comes to protecting EU’s interests in terms of security and defence. It is this document which transforms the current approach across the continent, and its analysis can prove a starting ground for punctual optimizations to take place, to gain resilience in the face of alternative or emerging threats and risks.
