One of the widely used prominent biometric techniques for identity authentication is Face Recognition. It plays an essential role in many areas, such as daily life, public security, finance, the military, and the smart school. The facial recognition task is identifying or verifying the identity of a person base on their face. The first step is face detection, which detects and locates human faces in images and videos. The face match process then finds an identity of the detected face. In recent years there have been many face recognition systems improving the performance based on deep learning models. Deep learning learns representations of the face based on multiple processing layers with multiple levels of feature extraction. This approach has made sufficient improvement in face recognition since 2014, launched by the breakthroughs of DeepFace and DeepID. However, finding a way to choose the best hyperparameters remains an open question. In this paper, we introduce a method for adaptive hyperparameters selection to improve recognition accuracy. The proposed method achieves improvements on three datasets.

Nowadays, face recognition becomes one of the important topics in the computer vision and image processing area. This is due to its importance where can be used in many applications. The main key in the face recognition is how to extract distinguishable features from the image to perform high recognition accuracy.  Local binary pattern (LBP) and many of its variants used as texture features in many of face recognition systems. Although LBP performed well in many fields, it is sensitive to noise, and different patterns of LBP may classify into the same class that reduces its discriminating property. Completed Local Ternary Pattern (CLTP) is one of the new proposed texture features to overcome the drawbacks of the LBP. The CLTP outperformed LBP and some of its variants in many fields such as texture, scene, and event image classification.  In this study, we study and investigate the performance of CLTP operator for face recognition task. The Japanese Female Facial Expression (JAFFE), and FEI face databases are used in the experiments. In the experimental results, CLTP outperformed some previous texture descriptors and achieves higher classification rate for face recognition task which has reached up 99.38% and 85.22% in JAFFE and FEI, respectively.

Face recognition algorithms based on deep learning methods have become increasingly popular. Most of these are based on highly precise but complex convolutional neural networks (CNNs), which require significant computing resources and storage, and are difficult to deploy on mobile devices or embedded terminals. In this paper, we propose several methods to improve the algorithms for face recognition based on a lightweight CNN, which is further optimized in terms of the network architecture and training pattern on the basis of MobileFaceNet. Regarding the network architecture, we introduce the Squeeze-and-Excitation (SE) block and propose three improved structures via a channel attention mechanism—the depthwise SE module, the depthwise separable SE module, and the linear SE module—which are able to learn the correlation of information between channels and assign them different weights. In addition, a novel training method for the face recognition task combined with an additive angular margin loss function is proposed that performs the compression and knowledge transfer of the deep network for face recognition. Finally, we obtained high-precision and lightweight face recognition models with fewer parameters and calculations that are more suitable for applications. Through extensive experiments and analysis, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

During the last few years, many algorithms have been proposed in particular for face recognition using classical 2-D images. However, it is necessary to deal with occlusions when the subject is wearing sunglasses, scarves and such. In the same way, ear recognition is arising as a new promising biometric for people recognition, even if the related literature appears to be somewhat underdeveloped. In this paper, several hybrid face/ear recognition systems are investigated. The system is based on IFS (Iterated Function Systems) theory that are applied on both face and ear resulting in a bimodal architecture. One advantage is that the information used for the indexing and recognition task of face/ear can be made local, and this makes the method more robust to possible occlusions. The distribution of similarities in the input images is exploited as a signature for the identity of the subject. The amount of information provided by each component of the face and the ear image has been assessed, first independently and then jointly. At last, results underline that the system significantly outperforms the existing approaches in the state of the art.

With the development of society, deep learning has been widely used in object detection, face recognition, speech recognition, and other fields. Among them, object detection is a popular direction in computer vision and digital image processing, and face detection is a focus of this hot direction. Although face detection technology has gone through a long research stage, it is still considered as one of the more difficult subjects in human feature detection technology. In addition, the face detection technology itself has two sides, imperceptibility and complexity of the environment, and other defects cause the existing technology to be unable to accurately recognize faces of different proportions, obscured and different postures. Therefore, this paper adopts an advanced deep learning method based on machine vision to detect human faces automatically. In order to accurately detect a variety of human faces, a multiscale fast RCNN method based on upper and lower layers (UPL-RCNN) is proposed. The network is composed of spatial affine transformation components and feature region components (ROI). This method plays a vital role in face detection. First of all, multiscale information can be grouped in detection, so as to deal with small areas of the face. Then, the method can use the inspiration of the human visual system to perform contextual reasoning and spatial transformation, including zooming, cutting, and rotating. Through comparative experiments, the analysis results show that this method can not only accurately detect human faces but also has better performance than fast RCNN. Compared with some advanced methods, this method has the advantages of high accuracy, less time consumption, and no correlation mark.

Face recognition plays a vital role in security purpose. In recent years, the researchers have focused on the pose illumination, face recognition, etc,. The traditional methods of face recognition focus on Open CV’s fisher faces which results in analyzing the face expressions and attributes. Deep learning method used in this proposed system is Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Proposed work includes the following modules: [1] Face Detection [2] Gender Recognition [3] Age Prediction. Thus the results obtained from this work prove that real time age and gender detection using CNN provides better accuracy results compared to other existing approaches.

Attendance management can become a tedious task for teachers if it is performed manually.. This problem can be solved with the help of an automatic attendance management system. But validation is one of the main issues in the system. Generally, biometrics are used in the smart automatic attendance system. Managing attendance with the help of face recognition is one of the biometric methods with better efficiency as compared to others. Smart Attendance with the help of instant face recognition is a real-life solution that helps in handling daily life activities and maintaining a student attendance system. Face recognition-based attendance system uses face biometrics which is based on high resolution monitor video and other technologies to recognize the face of the student. In project, the system will be able to find and recognize human faces fast and accurately with the help of images or videos that will be captured through a surveillance camera. It will convert the frames of the video into images so that our system can easily search that image in the attendance database.

Attendance Management System under unconstrained video using face recognition technology has made a great variation from the traditional method of attendance marking system. This attendance management system has been developed under the domain of Deep Learning by using Face recognition. Automatic Attendance Management under unconstrained video using face recognition systems which automatically mark attendance by detecting end to end face from the frames obtained from live stream video of surveillance camera which placed in center of the classroom. From the recognized faces, it will be compared with stored images in database, then the attendance report will be generated and it also provides attendance reports to parents of the absentee’s student.

Face recognition (FR) has received considerable attention in the field of security, especially in the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in security monitoring. Although significant advances in the field of computer vision are made, advanced face recognition systems provide satisfactory performance only in controlled conditions. They deteriorate significantly in the face of real-world scenarios such as lighting conditions, motion blur, camera resolution, etc. This article shows how we design, implement, and conduct the empirical comparisons of machine learning open libraries in building attendance taking (AT) support systems using indoor security cameras called ATSS. Our trial system was deployed to record the appearances of 120 students in five classes who study on the third floor of FPT Polytechnic College building. Our design allows for flexible system scaling, and it is not only usable for a school but a generic attendance system with CCTV. The measurement results show that the accuracy is suitable for many different environments.

For face recognition systems, liveness detection can effectively avoid illegal fraud and improve the safety of face recognition systems. Common face attacks include photo printing and video replay attacks. This paper studied the differences between photos, videos, and real faces in static texture and motion information and proposed a living detection structure based on feature fusion and attention mechanism, Dynamic and Texture Fusion Attention Network (DTFA-Net). We proposed a dynamic information fusion structure of an interchannel attention block to fuse the magnitude and direction of optical flow to extract facial motion features. In addition, for the face detection failure of HOG algorithm under complex illumination, we proposed an improved Gamma image preprocessing algorithm, which effectively improved the face detection ability. We conducted experiments on the CASIA-MFSD and Replay Attack Databases. According to experiments, the DTFA-Net proposed in this paper achieved 6.9% EER on CASIA and 2.2% HTER on Replay Attack that was comparable to other methods.

In scientific world, Face recognition becomes an important research topic. The face identification system is an application capable of verifying a human face from a live videos or digital images. One of the best methods is to compare the particular facial attributes of a person with the images and its database. It is widely used in biometrics and security systems. Back in old days, face identification was a challenging concept. Because of the variations in viewpoint and facial expression, the deep learning neural network came into the technology stack it’s been very easy to detect and recognize the faces. The efficiency has increased dramatically. In this paper, ORL database is about the ten images of forty people helps to evaluate our methodology. We use the concept of Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) in deep learning model is to recognize the faces and increase the efficiency of the model compared to previously existing face recognition models.
