This study was conducted with 157 mothers with children aged 3 to 5 who were living in attending a daycare center in J city to examine the correlation and influence between mothers' play beliefs and play participation on children's play performance and happiness. Specifically, we sought to answer the following: (1) Do mothers' play beliefs, children's playfulness, and infant happiness differ depending on the children's background variables? (2) What correlations and influences do mothers' play beliefs and the degree of play participation have on children's play performance? (3) What is the relationship between mothers' play beliefs, playfulness of children, and happiness of children? The data collection period was about two weeks from the fourth week of September to the first week of October 2018. For the collected data, t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and one-way ANOVA were performed using the SPSS 22.0 program. The research results are as follows. First, according to the background variables of the children, the mother's play beliefs, the infant's playfulness, and the infant's happiness were different. The play support beliefs, there was no significant difference in the age of young children but mothers of 5-year-old children showed that they supported learning-centered beliefs more, and the level of play performance and happiness of 5-year-olds was the highest. According to the number of children, the two-child and multi-child parent groups supported the play support belief, and the one-child parents supported the learning support belief, and the children's playfulness and happiness were found to be highest in the order of multiple children, two children, and one child. Second, play support belief showed a significant correlation with play participation and children's play performance. The higher the mother's play support belief was, the higher the play participation rate and the higher the infant's playfulness were. Conversely, the more mothers held the learning-centered belief, the lower the play participation rate was. Third, the higher the mother's belief in play support, the higher the level of playfulness of children, and the level of playfulness were, the higher the happiness of children was. This study is meaningful in recognizing the importance of parents having the correct perception of children's play and in providing basic data for parent education to promote the development of playfulness and happiness in children.

Sandpits are commonly found in playgrounds but in a world full of high-tech entertainment is their role in the developmental growth of young children undervalued? Professor Hiroyuki Kasama, Doshisha Women's College, Japan, is exploring the impact of sandpits on children, including the role they can play in deepening the relationship between parent and child. Sandpits first came about in Europe in the mid-19th century but have recently become unfavourable to many parents who consider them to be 'dirty' play. However, playing with sand yields important benefits, including the use of natural materials and the fact it provides a valuable sensory experience that enables children to build on emotional, social and athletic skills. Kasama is investigating the important potential of sandpits as well as working on childcare and education programmes that use sandpits for learning. Kasama is keen to improve the sandpit environment by standardising the type of sand used in order to make play more effective and observing the suitability of the sand by observing children's play and the reactions of their caregivers. Kasama and the team have also supervised the installation of indoor sandpits that can be used year-round. Ultimately, by clarifying the significance and necessity of playing with sand and discovering its potential, Kasama is aiming to provide children with effective environments that promote growth and development.

In this study, the relationship between academic achievement and attitudes towards “technology and design lesson” of the middle school, eighth grade students’  gender, family income level, parent education level attitudes towards technology and design lesson have been investigated, and examined the relationship between attitudes and academic achievement. Eighth-grade total of 98 students selected from 3 middle schools by simple random sampling method has been identified at research in North Cyprus. The data collection tool used in this study was the ‘technology and design course attitude scale’. Descriptive survey model was used in the research. The data were analyzed using independent sample t-test, Anova, correlation, frequency and percentage calculations. At the end of the research; no significant difference found between attitudes towards technology and design lesson according to students’ gender, family income, parent education levels. Also no significant relationship found between students’ academic achievements in “technology and design course” and “attitudes toward the technology and design course”.   Keywords: Technology and design, academic achievement, attitude towards lesson, students

This study aims to investigate the relationship between amateur football players’ mental readiness and difficulty in dealing with the level of emotion regulation. The study group consisted of 219 volunteer male athletes who actively played amateur league football in Bingol, Turkey during the 2018-2019 season. Along with a consideration of various demographic variables, the “Mental Readiness Scale” and the “Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale” have been used in this study. SPSS packaged software has been utilized for data analysis purposes. Descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlation and the One-Way ANOVA test have been utilized in the data analysis. According to the findings, a negative relationship has been determined between mental readiness and difficulty in emotion regulation on the part of the amateur football players. Furthermore, a statistically significant difference has been found between the variable of the football playing year and the total degree of mental readiness, mental preparation, cool-headedness and goals sub-dimensions (p< .05). Moreover, another statistically significant difference has been determined between the variable working period with the current coach and the total degree of mental readiness, mental preparation and cool-headedness sub-dimensions. As a consequence, the results suggest that as the mental readiness levels of the amateur players taking part in the study increase, the difficulty they experience in emotion regulation decreases. Additionally, it has been found out that as the football playing year and working period with the current coach increases, the athletes’ mental readiness levels go up, and the level of difficulty with regard to emotion regulation decreases.

The present study attempts to analyze the relationship between the use of ICT on the one hand and the performance of master students (future primary school teachers) on the other hand. A sample of 400 master students from the teacher training colleges of seven (7) administrative regions of Niger (Tillabery, Niamey, Dosso, Maradi, Zinder, Tahoua and Agadez) was selected. Data were collected using a questionnaire and the government's logbook. It has been postulated that the use of ICT by masters’ students, outside normal class hours, improves performance, both in terms of the annual average of students and practical internship grades preparing them for the teaching profession. The results indicate that 92% of respondents say that ICT improves their academic performance. However, the statistical analysis does not show a significant difference between the performances of those who use ICT outside their normal hours and those who do not use them.

Considering that instrumentation of the apical foramen has been suggested for root canal infection control, this study analyzed the relationship between the files that bind at the apical foramen and the foraminal openings in 50 maxillary central incisors. After preparation of the pulp chamber, access to the canal was obtained with #1 and 2 LA Axxess and K-files with tip cut were inserted up to the apical foramen until binding was felt. The files were fixed with methyl cyanoacrylate and the tooth-file sets were cross-sectioned 10 mm short of the apex. Scanning electron microscopic analysis was carried out and files and foraminal areas were measured using Image Tool software. Statistically significant difference (p<0.0001) was found between files and the apical foraminal areas. The mean foraminal area was 3.8 times larger than the mean file area. The results of this study suggest that it would require 4 files of greater size beyond the one that bound to the foramen in order to allow a better relationship between files and apical openings of maxillary central incisors.

The current study was targeted at investigating the relationship between translation students’ personality types and the quality of their English-to-Persian translations with respect to different text types. To this aim, 35 undergraduate senior students of translation were randomly sampled. To obtain some demographic information about the participants, the researchers used a background questionnaire. The participants were given three different text types for the translation task. An advertisement, a scientific text and a narrative text were chosen to serve Reiss’ text typology (1971) including operative, informative and expressive texts, respectively. The students were also provided with retrospective questionnaires to shed light on their performance in the act of translating. Subsequently, once the participants’ personality types were determined via the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) anchored in Jung’s psychological theory, their dominant mental functions involving intuition, sensation, feeling and thinking were identified. To analyze the data, the One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) procedure and post-hoc analysis were employed. The results of the study indicated that the only dichotomy showing a significant difference was that of intuition versus sensation. Simply put, the intuitors outperformed their sensor counterparts in the translation of the expressive text. Taking into account the findings of the current study, the researchers suggest some pedagogical guidelines too.
