The development of Halal industry points out an amazing result around the world, including Indonesia. Surprisingly, the biggest contributor for its growth is Micro, Smalland Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). In order to improve its significant contribution, thecombination of Halal MSMEs and Islamic financing becomes very crucial. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of awareness of the concept and of intention from MSMEs regardingthe penetration of Islamic financing. Therefore, this study investigates the determinantsaffecting the MSMEs’ desire for utilizing Islamic financing from the Islamic financialinstitution and encouraging Halal MSMEs to adopt Islamic financing in all businessactivities. A survey was conducted on 58 MSMEs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia byemploying self-administered questionnaire as the main approach for data collection.By using Structural Equation Modeling- Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) analysis, thisstudy reveals that from the variables examined, Cost Benefit and Halal Awareness arethe two factors that have impact on the Use of Islamic Financing. In addition, CostBenefit and Reputation are the two variables that have direct impact on the Attitudeof MSMEs toward Islamic Financing. Interestingly, this research also finds that Berkahas the key component in Islamic financing will be gained by MSMEs when they useIslamic financing instrument, and, thus will encourage Halal MSMEs’ intention to reuseIslamic financing. Moreover, service quality and competitiveness are very crucialto maintain the customer satisfaction. In addition, preaching Berkah as key componentin Muslim life is an important agenda in the future development of Halal Industry, especially in MSMEs sectors.

Agriculture has long been the backbone of the Zimbabwean economy contributing in excess of 40% at its peak. There has been a sharp decline in the performance of this sector over the years especially from 2000. Concurrently the sector has been struggling to access financing from the conventional financial system despite its strategic importance to the economy. This study sought to unravel the major fundamentals behind the financing vacuum in the agricultural sector. It adopts a survey approach for data collection and applies both descriptive and inferential methods . A questionnaire was used for data collection on a sample of 117 respondents comprising of farmers’ representatives, bank employees and ministry of agriculture officials. Data was analyzed using SPSS’ Analysis of Moment Structures software which allows for structural equation modeling to identify multiple relationships among variables simultaneously. The study identifies the efficient and reliable value chain mechanism, volatile government policy, short term deposits experienced by banks, land tenure system and lack of investor confidence as the underlying fundamentals behind the low financing in agriculture.

ABSTRACT Obesity is a condition of excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissue that occurs due to nutritional transitions in food consumption patterns by population that practices modern lifestyles, trend to higher consumption of energy-dense foods and low physical activity. Food consumption is the main cause of adult obesity 18+ years old. Based on UNICEF (1998) concept, food consumption is influenced by food security, including food access and food availability. The purpose of this study is to determine the obesity and food security modeling in West Java Province. This study used secondary data from Riskesdas 2013, SUSENAS 2013, and Daerah Dalam Angka2013-2014 from BPS. Unit analysis is 26 districts of West Java Province. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that ten percent increase in food availability could directly reduce 9.2 percent in food access, reduce 8.9 percent in food consumption as a result of  food access changes, and reduce 0.4 percent of obesity as a result of food access and food consumption changes. Ten percent increase in food access could directly increase in 3.0 percent of food consumption, and increase 3.6 percent obesity as a result of food consumption changes. Ten percent increase in food consumption could increase 6.0 percent of obesity prevalence. [Penel Gizi Makan 2018, 41(2):89-100] Kata kunci: obesitas, ketahanan pangan, partial least squarestructural equation modeling (PLS-SEM)
