Agriculture has long been the backbone of the Zimbabwean economy contributing in excess of 40% at its peak. There has been a sharp decline in the performance of this sector over the years especially from 2000. Concurrently the sector has been struggling to access financing from the conventional financial system despite its strategic importance to the economy. This study sought to unravel the major fundamentals behind the financing vacuum in the agricultural sector. It adopts a survey approach for data collection and applies both descriptive and inferential methods . A questionnaire was used for data collection on a sample of 117 respondents comprising of farmers’ representatives, bank employees and ministry of agriculture officials. Data was analyzed using SPSS’ Analysis of Moment Structures software which allows for structural equation modeling to identify multiple relationships among variables simultaneously. The study identifies the efficient and reliable value chain mechanism, volatile government policy, short term deposits experienced by banks, land tenure system and lack of investor confidence as the underlying fundamentals behind the low financing in agriculture.

As urbanization has occurred without the attendant growth and development spillovers in underdeveloped nations including Ethiopia, the phenomenon brought undesirable social and economic consequences. This article investigates the relationship between urbanization and urban household income and housing problem. Structural equation modeling was used to run mediation analysis. Correlation and regression analyses were also carried out to measure the direction and magnitude of the effect of the independent variable on the dependent. Regression analysis results indicate the existence of a significant direct effect of urbanization on limitations in income generating capacity of citizens. This article recommends taking policy measures to include development agendas of small and medium towns into regional plans as they absorb the influx to large cities and can help migrants experience the challenging complex urban life step by step. In addition, a policy intervention in the area of land tenure system and real estate development is required before the housing problems gets worsened.

Because bank employees have been found to be especially susceptible to burnout and depression, we explored the relationship between these variables, and examined the moderating effect of perceived employability on the burnout–depression relationship in a sample of Chinese bank employees. As we expected, burnout and perceived employability were, respectively, positively and negatively associated with depression. The results of hierarchical regression and structural equation modeling indicated that perceived employability moderated the relationship between burnout and depression; higher perceived employability was associated with a weaker relationship between burnout and depression. Interventions aimed at developing the perceived employability of Chinese bank employees may help to improve mental health in this group.

Climate change and water scarcity are the most important challenges of the agricultural sector, and pressurized irrigation systems (PISs) are one of the most significant ways to improve agricultural water productivity. The main purpose of this research was to identify the factors affecting the use of PISs by farmers. The statistical research population was a total of 2396 Iranian model farmers. The Cochran formula was used to determine the number of statistical samples. Accordingly, this comprised 331 people. The methodology of the study was mixed method research. The structural equation modeling technique, Mann–Whitney U, and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that the personal characteristics, tendency, attitude, self-efficacy, subjective norms, governmental support, environmental tensions, and technological features were the most important factors which influenced the farmers. It was found that all of these variables had a positive and significant relationship with the using of PISs by farmers, and they were able to predict 52% of the behavioral changes (R2) of the farmers. Among these variables, the attitude, with a path coefficient (β) of 0.48, had the highest impact on the using of PISs by the farmers.

This study investigates the impacts of various organizational ethical climates (egoism, principle, benevolence) on individual performance of bank employees. The research is conducted on the sample consisting of employees working in the commercial banks with less than 50% of state capital in Vietnam. The total of 364 valid complete questionnaires are input into SPSS database for processing. The research model and hypotheses are tested using the technique of Structural Equation Modeling. The research results show that different perceptions on organization ethical environment would lead to different individual performance. When the employee perceives his/her ethical environment as Eegoism, productivity, quality, and work efficiency would be significantly higher than those of the environments of benevolence. No impact, however, is identified of principle ethical environment on employees’ performance.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a model to understand how and when employees’ perceived privacy violations and procedural injustice interact to predict intent to leave in the context of the use of social networking sites (SNSs) monitoring. Design/methodology/approach This study was conducted in a field setting of Facebook to frame the hypotheses in a structural equation model with partial least squares-structural equation modeling. Variables were measured empirically by administering questionnaires to full-time employed Facebook users who had experienced SNS monitoring. Findings The results showed that when an employee believed that he/she had more ability to control his/her SNS information, he/she was less likely to perceive that his/her privacy had been invaded; and when an employee believed that the transparency of the SNS data collection process was higher, he or she was more likely to perceive procedural justice in SNS monitoring. Research limitations/implications This research draws attention to the importance of intent to leave in the absence of perceived procedural justice under SNS monitoring, and the partial mediation of the perception of justice or injustice by perceived privacy violations. Practical implications For employers, the author recommends that employers come to know how to conduct SNS monitoring and data collection with limited risk of employee loss. Social implications For employees, the author suggests that SNS users learn how to control their SNS information and make sure to check their privacy settings on the SNS that they use frequently. Originality/value This study provided an initial examination and bridged the gap between employer use of SNS monitoring and employee reactions by opening a mediating and moderating black box that has rarely been assessed.

Majority of the Muslim countries around the globe have been still experiencing a low level of development in various aspects of life compared to non-Muslim countries. Indonesia as the most populous Muslim country is not an exception. As far as Islam is concerned, this fact shows an irony for this religion strongly propels its adherents to pursue an excellent life (hayatan thayybah) both in worldly life and hereafter. Moreover in Islam, religion and development are very closely related each other where the level of development is dependent upon the implementation of religion in the society. The existence of Islam in a particular society should ideally lead such a society to be developed. This paper attempts to investigate the connection between Islam and development in South Kalimantan province, Indonesia. The province is selected for the study as it has long tradition of Islam, but it is reported to have a low level development. The objective of this study is to reveal the actual role of Islam on the society and to examine its connection to socioeconomic development using Maqasid al-Shari’ah framework. The survey method was employed for the data collection and Structural Equation Modeling used for the analysis. The findings showed that religiosity was positively related to various aspects of socioeconomic development as measured by the components of Maqasid al-Shari’ah.
