In the absence of uniform and unified requirements for the assessment of industrial risks at an enterprise, the system approach remains the only tool for a comprehensive assessment of the workplace safety. Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) system involves identifying, analyzing and reducing risks at the workplace. The purpose of the article is to calculate the minimum expenses for occupational safety measures and minimize production risks identified through the developed procedure for analyzing the hazards of the machine-building enterprise. The research methodology is based on the integrated use of qualitative and quantitative approaches to risk assessment, namely, structured assessment and integral assessment using the “rucksack problem” optimization model. The study identifies the risks that are most common and the most serious ones. The procedure of risk reduction is proposed, which is to determine the minimum costs for achieving each of the integral assessments for the machine-building enterprise. The practical value of work consists in the ability to directly apply the developed methodology for risk assessment at the enterprises of the machine-building industry, and to easily adapt the risk assessment procedure to other conditions.

PurposeThis study aims to (1) investigate the association between companies' investment in occupational safety and their financial performance and (2) discuss the importance of occupational safety to overall performance.Design/methodology/approachOccupational safety is often considered to be a practice that can yield suboptimal return on investment. However, it is not known whether this belief is substantiated by evidence. A mapping review of the eligible research literature (N = 36) regarding firms' investment in occupational safety and their financial performance, published between 1945 and2018, was carried out in the Web of Science database.FindingsBy dispelling myths regarding return on investment associated with occupational safety, the findings of this study underscore financial gains firms can obtain by promoting occupational safety measures in their organizations.Originality/valueThese issues are important because they can help policymakers understand the pressures companies face in terms of occupational safety and financial performance sustainability.

Farming is an ancient traditional business, but still it is not a profitable business sector due to risk factor attached to it. It is a high-risk business. Although profit is lucrative, loss rate is also high. Occupational safety is a big issue of discussion for agricultural workers. The methods of working in field in extreme climate (heat, rain) totally depends on environmental factors. Due to rain and droughts, the loss of profit impacts on economic condition and market. Extreme weather condition, heavy workload during their working procedure gives them early old age, bone and muscle problems. So to attain better efficiency of performance and to improve productivity of the worldwide farmers in the agricultural sector it is essential to minimize risk factors. Agricultural workers need sufficient precaution and safety measures at the time of field and machine work to minimize risk factors. Still risk is major discussion topic in agricultural business. So, an effort is taken to prioritize safety majors by fuzzy ahp, and prediction are done by fuzzy logic modelling.

Background: Globally, mining is considered as one of the most hazardous occupation. Significant numbersof workers are killed or become disabled due to occupational injuries and diseases. Accidents and injuriesoccur because of unsafe behavior, poor and specific work knowledge and human errors. A cross-sectionalstudy of consecutive (non probability) sampling technique was carried out from October 2012 toApril 2013in which 252 coal mine workers of Shakot were assessed for Knowledge Attitude & Behavior safety ofoccupational health & safety measures in the Department of Community Medicine Khyber MedicalCollege, Peshawar. The majority of the miners were unaware of the occupational safety at coal mines.54.76% had poor, 30.16%, had average knowledge while only 15.08% had good knowledge of occupationalhealth & safety measures among coal miners. 43.65% coal mine workers has low safety attitude and 38.49%coal mine workers has un-safe behavior of occupational health & safety measures in coal mines. Keywords: Coal mining, Knowledge,Attitude, Behavior Safety, Occupational health & safety

Abstract Introduction COVID-19 transmission was significant amongst Qatar’s working population during the March–July 2020 outbreak. The study aimed to estimate the risk of exposure for COVID-19 across various workplace settings and demographics in the State of Qatar. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted utilizing surveillance data of all workplaces with 10 or more laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19. These workplaces were categorized using a mapping table adapted from the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes, 2017 version. The data was then analyzed to estimate and compare the positivity rate as an indicator of the risk of developing COVID-19 infection across various workplace settings in the State of Qatar. Results The highest positivity rate was reported amongst the Construction & Related (40.0%) and the Retail & Wholesale Trade sectors (40.0%), whereas, the lowest positivity rate was attributed to the healthcare workplace setting (11.0%). The highest incidence of COVID-19 infections occurred in South Asian nationalities and in the male gender. The private funded sector employees have seen higher positivity rate than employees of the governmental funded sector. Conclusion The elevated risk of infection in Construction and Retail & Wholesale Trade is probably due to environmental and educational vulnerabilities. The predominant labor force of those workplace categories is South Asian craft and male manual workers. Alternatively, the better containment of the healthcare workplace setting can be attributed to the enforcement of infection control and occupational safety measures. These findings imply the importance of using preventive and surveillance strategies for high-risk workplace settings appropriately.

Analysis of cognitive ergonomics in nursing in hemodialysis clinicAbstract: Occupational safety measures, aiming at the biopsychosocial integrity of the individual, were necessary for the development of norms that would lead to the minimization of occupational hazards existing in the workplace. Based on this context, the present study presented an analysis of cognitive ergonomics, among which the present risks, which influence the research. The aspects that compose cognitive ergonomics, be it memory, perception, reasoning and motor response, allow interferences in the development of nurses' care practices, leading the study to the understanding that this ergonomics contributes to psychosocial risks and, consequently, occupational risks. Therefore, through this reality that was raised by the research, it is proposed the commitment to direct the educational process to the nursing scope, in order to overcome the challenges that permeate the care in the hemodialysis clinic.Descriptors: Occupational Risks, Work Nurse, Cognitive Ergonomics.
