Students four grade semester English Education Department have difficult in writing. They have  limitation in English vocabulary building, students didn’t understand  systematically in writing. They usual use common words in writing English so that they weak in writing skill. Lecturer choose clustering technique to improve students’writing skill. The advantages this technique can mapp students’mind, an idea or theme with symbols and diagram after that they can improve become written or text. Furthermore all of the content in which they want to write based on the outline. This research aim to know improving students’writing skill  through clustering technique on students STKIP Kusuma Negara, Jakarta. It is qualitative research using classroom action research method. It was conducted two cycle. Each of cycle consist of four steps. There are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This research was conducted with the subject twenty five students in fourth semester English Education STKIP Kusuma Negara Jakarta. Data were collected  through interview, observation and test. The result of this research is improving students’writing skill through Clustering Technique showed an increasing percentage and average score. Cycle I was  32 % students pass in writing skill or the average score is 73.28, in Cycle II was 88 % students pass in writing skill or the average score is 81.6. The students given positive responses, they were enthusiastic and motivated when they written in English by Clustering Technique. Based on the result, it  can be concluded Clustering Technique could improve the students’writing skill on STKIP Kusuma Negara.

The obejectives of this research are to know the improvement  of the students’ achievement in poetry mastery and their perception regarding to the semiotic method in teaching and learning poetry in  English Education Department, Languages and Art Faculty of State University of Medan. The research method used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of the research are the fifth semester of 37 students of 2013/2014 academic year. The data are collected by test in order to know the students’ achievment in poetry mastery. The students’ perception toward the implementation of the semiotic method for teaching and learning poetry is collected by questionaire. The data are analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result of research shows that (1) the average score of the students’ achievement of poetry mastery is (71.75) or it increases (11,59) point from pre-test (60.16) and (2) in general, the students’ perception toward the semiotic method for teaching and learning poetry are good and positive.

This research was intended to find out the level anxiety and the factors of students’ anxiety at speaking learning. This approach using qualitative research with survey research method, the subject of the research were students second-semester in the English Education Department at University of Banten Jaya. The collecting data of this research used interviews, questionnaires, and student observations through speaking lecturer. The results of the research showed that the level anxiety of students there is 65%, which means students’ anxiety  sat a high level. The result factors anxiety of this research there are some factors of anxiety. They are: First, speaking in front of the class. Second, students’ belief about language learning. The last, lack of preparation. The writer found third factors of students’ speaking anxiety at speaking learning.

This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning result and activities by using the cooperative learning model of Talking Chips type on the subject matter of Biodiversity in class X MIA1 MAN 1 Medan T.P. 2018/2019. The research method is classroom action research and the subject of this research are students of class X MIA1 as many as 35 people. The instrument that used in the study are test of student learning result namely pretest and postest as many as 30 questions and observation sheets of student activities. The results showed that based on the learning result of the first cycle, the average score of pretest was 40.6 increased to 68.6 in the postest. At the second cycle, there was an increase from 62.8 in the pretest to 74.5 in the postest. In this study, the data of individual and classical learning completeness criteria are obtained as follows: as many as 30 out of 35 students or 85.72% who scored above 70 or equal to 70, and 5 other students or 14.28% got a score below 70. Based on observations of student activities, the percentage of students who were active in the first cycle was 48.2% with total of students 17 out of 35 students, and students who were active in the second cycle was 80% with total of students 28 from 35 students

This study investigated the use of cable TV to increase listening comprehension of the students of English education department of Muria Kudus University. The aims were to find out: (1) the listening comprehension achievement of the students taught by using cable TV, (2) the students’ response towards the teaching of listening comprehension class by using cable TV, and (3) the students’ difficulties when being involved in the listening class taught by using cable TV are. A classroom action research was conducted with three cycles. The data was collected by using test, observation checklist, & a questionnaire. The subject consisted of 29 students joining Advanced Listening class. The findings show that: (a) The listening comprehension achievement of the students taught by using cable TV in cycle I, II, & III is fair, (b) The students have enthusiasm and seriousness and motivation in joining the class in all cycles, (c) In cycle III the students’ difficulties when being involved in the listening comprehension class taught by using cable TV are more and more decreasing. Abstract: The objective of this study was describing the application of CTL model assisted by origami media for increasing learning result of plane circumference in the fifth grade of primary school. It was a qualitative research by using Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology. The subject research was 43 students in the fifth grade in Bunuwetan Pakis primary school. The steps are: (1) Introduction, (2) Material presentment step (constructivism, inquiry, questioning, learning community, modelling, reflecting, and authentic assessment), conclusion and (3) Closing. The scoring result of this study was 80% in the activity of the teacher in cycle I, it included good category. In cycle II was getting 96% and including excellent category. The activity of the students was getting 67,14% and including quite active category. Besides, in cycle II it got 92,86%, involved very active category. The result study in cycle I was gotten from classical mastery 69,77% and the average score was 63,83. The cycle II was 81,39% and the average score was 80,93. Therefore, can be concluded that the assembling of CTL model assisted by origami could increase the learning result of the fifth grade in Bunuwetan Pakis Primary school.      Key words: CTL, origami, plane

The objectives of this research was to know the process of learning English vocabulary by using guessing words game and to know the students’ problem in learning English vocabulary by using guessing words game for the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Palu in academic year of2019/2020 with the use of guessing words game technique. In this research, the researcher used qualitative research method. The researcher chose class VII D as sample which consisted of 23 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used four kinds of instruments, they were: observation,interview, test and document. Based on the observation, there are some problems in the teaching and learning. To solve those problems, the researcher implemented guessing words game as vocabulary activities. This research was conducted through classroom action research that consisted of two cycles. Each cycles consisted three meetings. The result of the research showed that there were some improvements of the students’ vocabulary. In cycle 1 average score was 62,86 there were some unsuccessful score. Meanwhile, in cycle 2 average score was 72,34 the implementation of guessing words game was successful in developing students vocabulary. Guessing words game gives better result to develop the students’ vocabulary. In other words, guessing words game is effective to use in teaching English vocabulary.

Artikel ini  bertujuan menanamkan sikap anti-plagiasi di kalangan mahasiswa di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FBS UNY yang tercermin pada pendapat dan hasil tulisan mereka.  Penelitian ini dilakukan di sekelompok mahasiswa Jurusan bahasa Inggris UNY Semester IV yang menempuh perkuliahan Writing for Academic Assignments tahun akademik 2015/2016 sebanyak 1 kelas (20 orang, terdiri dari 12 perempuan dan 8 laki-laki).  Data diambil dengan  teknik observasi terhadap proses tindakan, pemberian kuesioner untuk menjajagi pendapat dan sikap, wawancara untuk keperluan penajaman atau penggalian informasi, dan unjuk kerja menulis karya ilmiah berupa essay dan proposal penelitian.  Penelitian ini mampu mengurangi secara signifikan jumlah pelanggaran yang dilakukan dalam penulisan sumber, dari 85% di awal penelitian menjadi 40% di akhir Siklus 1, dan 20% di akhir Siklus 2.Kata Kunci: anti-plagiasi, kutipan, parafrase, rangkuman FOSTERING ANTI-PAGIARISM ATTITUDE IN THE SUBJECT OF WRITING FOR ACADEMIC ASSIGNMENTS ABSTRACTThe article disseminates the results and findings of a study aiming to foster the attitude towards anti-plagiarism among students of the English Education Department of FBS, UNY, as reflected on their opinions and writing products.  The study was implemented on a group of semester IV students of the English Education Department of UNY in the academic year 2015/2016 taking the course of Writing for Academic Assignments. The group consisted of 20 students, 12 female and 8 male.  The data were collected through a series of observation on the action process, a questionnaire on the respondents’ opinions and ideas, interviews for deeper facts and information, and tasks of writing academic essays and research proposal mini project. The action research stages were carried out through two cycles, each of which was completed in 7 class sessions.   This study finally was able to decrease the number of violations and plagiarism in a significant quantity, from initially 85% to 40% by the end of Cycle 1 and to 20% by the end of the study.Keywords: anti-plagiarism, quotation, paraphrase, summary

The aims of the study were to get increasing of students’ English academic writing ability through the jigsaw technique. It is done in the English Education Program Study of Postgraduate Program Universitas Indraprasta PGRI Jakarta. In this study has emphasized teamwork learning. The research approach is mixed research using action research method. The process of collecting data used test, observation, documentation, interviews, and daily note. The technique of data analysis used qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. The sample of the study is 20 students. The result of the study shown that the average score of the student English academic writing test is different. The average of the test in cycle 1 is 51.1, cycle 2 is 51,2 and cycle 3 is 79,6.Keywords: Academic Writing, English, Jigsaw Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan peningkatan kemampuan menulis akademik bahasa Inggris menggunakan teknik Jigsaw. Penelitian dilakukan di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris pada Program Pascasarjana Universitas Indraprasta PGRI Jakarta. Penelitian ini menitiberatkan pada pembelajaran kerja tim. Pendekatan penelitian adalah penelitian campuran menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan. Proses mengumpulkan data menggunakan tes, observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara dan catatan harian. Teknik analisis data terdiri dari analisis data kualitatif dan analisis data kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 20 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan nilai tes menulis akademik bahasa Inggris. Nilai rata-rata tes pada siklus 1 sebesar 51.1, siklus 2 sebear 51,1 dan siklus 3 sebesar 79,6..Kata Kunci: Menulis Akademik, Bahasa Inggris, JIgsaw

This study aimed to improve students’ public speaking skills at the English Education Department (JTBI) of IAIN Batusangkar through the use of videotaped feedback. The research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) whose participants were the fourth semester students. The data were collected through observation, test, and interviews and were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings shows that the use of videotaped feedback improved the students’ public speaking skills in which the average score  increased from 6.95714 (Mid Term Test) to 7.026 (Final Test). This implies that there was an increase in the ability of students from the level of need improvement to the satisfactory. Even in the aspects of Introduction, Body, Conclusion and Time, which were the focuses of this class action research, there were increases from 7.38, 7.1, 6,8, and 6.6 (UTS) to 8, 7.5, 7,3 and 7.2 (UAS) respectively. It also means that there were increases in students’ public speaking skills in all four aspects, which were from satisfactory (Introduction, Body), and need improvement (Conclusion, Time) to good (Introduction), and satisfactory (Body, Conclusion and Time). It is expected that the results of this study can be applied to other aspects of public speaking skills and other similar subjects.

This study is to describe the process of teaching descriptive writing skill by using Think Talk and Write (TTW) at second semester of English Education Department Teacher Training and Education Faculty Madura Islamic University. The study used descriptive qualitative research. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation such as observation list for students, students’ writing result, and describing the situation of class during the observation.  In analyzing the data, the researcher used simple formula such as numerical data to support the research. The result of this research, in can be concluded that using Think Talk and Writing (TTW) to teach writing especially descriptive text is very effective and help students to develop their skill in writing, it showed by the students’ response (78.26% of Students enjoyed the class), and it was also supported by the score of students’ writing skill in writing descriptive text (82.7% of students got the target score).   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran keterampilan menulis deskriptif dengan menggunakan Think Talk and Write (TTW) pada semester dua Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Islam Madura. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan observasi seperti daftar observasi untuk siswa, hasil tulisan siswa, dan menggambarkan situasi kelas selama pengamatan. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan rumus sederhana seperti data numerik untuk mendukung penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan Think Talk and Writing (TTW) untuk mengajar menulis terutama teks deskriptif sangat efektif dan membantu siswa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan mereka dalam menulis, hal ini ditunjukkan oleh respon siswa (78,26% siswa menikmati kelas), dan itu juga didukung oleh skor keterampilan menulis siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif (82,7% siswa mendapat skor target).
