This study investigated the use of cable TV to increase listening comprehension of the students of English education department of Muria Kudus University. The aims were to find out: (1) the listening comprehension achievement of the students taught by using cable TV, (2) the students’ response towards the teaching of listening comprehension class by using cable TV, and (3) the students’ difficulties when being involved in the listening class taught by using cable TV are. A classroom action research was conducted with three cycles. The data was collected by using test, observation checklist, & a questionnaire. The subject consisted of 29 students joining Advanced Listening class. The findings show that: (a) The listening comprehension achievement of the students taught by using cable TV in cycle I, II, & III is fair, (b) The students have enthusiasm and seriousness and motivation in joining the class in all cycles, (c) In cycle III the students’ difficulties when being involved in the listening comprehension class taught by using cable TV are more and more decreasing. This research begun from the students’ problems in understanding the English structure at the first semester of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Madura Islamic University (UIM) Pamekasan. From the data, it showed that most of students did not achieve the target score 75 (B), it was only 43.75% students. These problems occurred because 1) they used to memorize the pattern of English structure, 2) they seldom practice it in spoken or written, 3) they felt afraid of making mistakes. Concerning with these, the researcher tried to solve by implementing an appropriate strategy, it is SAVI (SOMATIC, AUDITORY, VISUAL AND INTELLECTUAL) which was introduced by Dave Meire. The research design is Classroom Action Research (CAR). It was done in two cycles with four steps; planning, acting, observing and reflecting. After conducting the research, there were significant improvements of students’ score. From the data, in the preliminary study, there were only 43.75% who achieved the target score. After implementing SAVI in the cycle I, there were improvement of students score, it was 62.5% students who achieved the target score. In cycle II, there were 87.5% students. From the data above, it could be concluded that implementing SAVI is success because it achieved the target score, it is more than 85% students got 75 (B). This research was directed to solve problem on low life skill students, namely : ignorance attitude, dishonest to posent, dishonest in doing assigment from lectuter, and dishonest toward their own attitude. Life skill constitutes personal competent which must be mastered by student to life harmonic in their environtment. Students with low life skill can not be a creative and innovative toward their knowledge, attitude and skills. If this problems were not overcame, so it can hider their assignment goal and surely hider nett development. Guidance and conseling in university has a duty to prepare students to life indepently in society, so one at the conseling is which was appired to increase students life skill. Responsife conseling constitutes did conseling for students who hate need or problem urgent help. The objectives at this study is increasing low life skill student to high life skill student. The method used to reach the objective is qualitative research ( Guidance and Conseling Action Research ). The subject at research is students teacher training and education faculity, meanwhile interview observation and test were applied to collect data. To get data validity, the reseacher used triangulation, college discussion and memberchecking. More over, interative analysis was used to analysis the data. The results showed that in cycle one and cycle two, religious based responsive conseling improve students life skill.

The objective of this research is to know whether Podcast can improve the students’ pronunciation in speaking English when it is implemented in teaching learning process in class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year.This research method used a Classroom Action Research which was implemented in two cycles. The subject of the research was class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year. This study was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consisted of four meetings, and the second cycle consisted of three meetings. The procedure of the action research consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, field notes, and test. To analyze the quantitative data, the researcher applied descriptive statistics. It was used to compare the scores and means of pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was conducted in the preliminary research while post-test was conducted at the end of cycle 1 and 2. The result of the test was used to know how well the students understand the text of listening. To analyze the qualitative data, the researcher analyzed the improvement of the teaching learning process based on the results of questionnaire, interview, and field notes.The result of the research showed that the use of Podcast has helped students to get exposed to correct pronunciation. By constantly listening to Podcast of native speakers of English, students develop their skill not only in listening but also in pronouncing the words in English correctly. It also has helped the students in improving the students’ vocabulary mastery. In conclusion, by listening to Podcast, students can improve their pronunciation and vocabulary mastery so that they also can speak more during the speaking activity.Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that students’ pronunciation in English can be improved by the use of Podcast. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers and students can use Podcast as one of the alternative techniques in teaching and learning speaking.Keywords : Podcast, Proununciation, Speaking Skill, Action Research

Students four grade semester English Education Department have difficult in writing. They have  limitation in English vocabulary building, students didn’t understand  systematically in writing. They usual use common words in writing English so that they weak in writing skill. Lecturer choose clustering technique to improve students’writing skill. The advantages this technique can mapp students’mind, an idea or theme with symbols and diagram after that they can improve become written or text. Furthermore all of the content in which they want to write based on the outline. This research aim to know improving students’writing skill  through clustering technique on students STKIP Kusuma Negara, Jakarta. It is qualitative research using classroom action research method. It was conducted two cycle. Each of cycle consist of four steps. There are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This research was conducted with the subject twenty five students in fourth semester English Education STKIP Kusuma Negara Jakarta. Data were collected  through interview, observation and test. The result of this research is improving students’writing skill through Clustering Technique showed an increasing percentage and average score. Cycle I was  32 % students pass in writing skill or the average score is 73.28, in Cycle II was 88 % students pass in writing skill or the average score is 81.6. The students given positive responses, they were enthusiastic and motivated when they written in English by Clustering Technique. Based on the result, it  can be concluded Clustering Technique could improve the students’writing skill on STKIP Kusuma Negara.

Artikel ini  bertujuan menanamkan sikap anti-plagiasi di kalangan mahasiswa di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FBS UNY yang tercermin pada pendapat dan hasil tulisan mereka.  Penelitian ini dilakukan di sekelompok mahasiswa Jurusan bahasa Inggris UNY Semester IV yang menempuh perkuliahan Writing for Academic Assignments tahun akademik 2015/2016 sebanyak 1 kelas (20 orang, terdiri dari 12 perempuan dan 8 laki-laki).  Data diambil dengan  teknik observasi terhadap proses tindakan, pemberian kuesioner untuk menjajagi pendapat dan sikap, wawancara untuk keperluan penajaman atau penggalian informasi, dan unjuk kerja menulis karya ilmiah berupa essay dan proposal penelitian.  Penelitian ini mampu mengurangi secara signifikan jumlah pelanggaran yang dilakukan dalam penulisan sumber, dari 85% di awal penelitian menjadi 40% di akhir Siklus 1, dan 20% di akhir Siklus 2.Kata Kunci: anti-plagiasi, kutipan, parafrase, rangkuman FOSTERING ANTI-PAGIARISM ATTITUDE IN THE SUBJECT OF WRITING FOR ACADEMIC ASSIGNMENTS ABSTRACTThe article disseminates the results and findings of a study aiming to foster the attitude towards anti-plagiarism among students of the English Education Department of FBS, UNY, as reflected on their opinions and writing products.  The study was implemented on a group of semester IV students of the English Education Department of UNY in the academic year 2015/2016 taking the course of Writing for Academic Assignments. The group consisted of 20 students, 12 female and 8 male.  The data were collected through a series of observation on the action process, a questionnaire on the respondents’ opinions and ideas, interviews for deeper facts and information, and tasks of writing academic essays and research proposal mini project. The action research stages were carried out through two cycles, each of which was completed in 7 class sessions.   This study finally was able to decrease the number of violations and plagiarism in a significant quantity, from initially 85% to 40% by the end of Cycle 1 and to 20% by the end of the study.Keywords: anti-plagiarism, quotation, paraphrase, summary

The research aims at describing the implementation of inductive approach in pre-intermediate structure subject to English Education Study Program students. It describes how the response of the implementation of inductive approach through communicative activities to students of English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI University of Yogyakarta.The research was done qualitatively. It included some actions. The actions were activities of teaching and learning processes by implementing inductive approach through some communicative activities in the classroom. The subject of this research was the students of English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI University of Yogyakarta. The research data was analyzed qualitatively by using deep observation and interview. The result was represented descriptively.The result of the research was that the implementation of inductive approach through the communicative activities can (a) train students to be familiar with the rule of discovery; (b) exploit students’ greater degree of cognitive depth, (c) make the students are more active rather than being passive in the process, (d) involve students to collaboratively do problem solving, (e) involve students to get opportunity for extra language practice.

<p><em>This research is </em><em>aimed to </em><em>find out the </em><em>contribution of: (1) students’ motivation to students’ translation; (2) students’ vocabulary to students’ translation ability; and (3) students’ motivation and students’ vocabulary, to students’ translation. Th</em><em>is correlational study involved 35 students of the sixth semester students of English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of a University in Surakarta. The technique of choosing the sample was cluster random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaire and test. Single Correlation and Multiple Linear Regressions were used to analyze the data.</em><em> T</em><em>he research findings show </em><em>that</em><em>: (1)</em><em> motivation</em><em> brings 10.30</em><em>% contribution to translation; (2)</em><em> vocabulary</em><em> brings 29.58</em><em>% contribution to translation; and (3) motivation and vocabulary simultaneously</em><em> bring 39.88</em><em>% contribution to translation. Based on the study, it can be implied that motivation and vocabulary are important factors that give contribution to translation.</em></p>

To write an ‘attention grabbing’ paragraph, the students should do a lot of practices in writing. However, the fact showed that writing skill was frightening and boring skill to learn as lecturers applied boring and monotonous teaching technique. Thus, the present research was mainly intended to answer the following questions: how effective is simultaneous roundtable in improving the students’ genre-based paragraph writing ability? and how do the students respond the application of simultaneous roundtable in teaching genre-based paragraph writing? The subjects of this research were two classes of the second semester students of English Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Mahasaraswati Denpasar University which consisted of 62 students altogether. The design of the present study was classroom action research which were carried out in three cycles. The progressing results of the pre-test, post-test 1, 2 and 3 confirmed that simultaneous roundtable was effective in improving genre-based paragraph writing ability. In addition, the results of the questionnaire showed that most of the subjects agreed on the application of simultaneous roundtable in teaching genre-based paragraph writing.

This research aims to improve speaking ability on speaking for specific purposes class of class A1 students of English Education Department students, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI University of Yogyakarta in the academic year of 2012/2013. The effort which was done is using role-playing as a technique in teaching and learning activities. This collaborative and participative action research consisted of three cycles, with plan, action, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The participants were the students of class A1 of English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI University of Yogyakarta. The data were collected by means of interviewing, recording technique, observing, and assessing. The qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing, while the quantitative data was analyzed descriptively by counting the mean score and the score percentage of the result of the observation. The results of research show that using role-playing technique can improve students’ speaking ability on speaking for specific purposes class. It can be indicated by the improvement of the activity of speaking classroom English, the interaction between teacher and students, and the students and teacher’s attention. The improvement of speaking ability on classroom English is also supported by the improvement of students’ achievement in speaking performance to a mean score of 161,18 or 70,579% (cycle I), 176,31 or 76,956% (cycle II), and 198,16 or 85,797% (cycle III).
