The Czech National Bank issued seven commemorative coins in 2018. Three of them are in silver: the 200 CZK piece celebrating the 500th anniversary of edition of the Klaudyán map of Bohemia, the 200 CZK piece celebrating the 200th anniversary of foundation of the National Museum, the 200 CZK piece celebrating the 300thdeath anniversary of John Brokoff and the 500 CZK piece celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the Czechoslovak Nation by its Provisional Government in Washington. Two gold 5,000 CZK commemorative pieces were produced under the scheme called Castles: the Zvíkov Castle and the Rabí Castle. In the same year, also one gold commemorative 10,000 CZK piece was issued celebrating the 100th anniversary of birth of the Czechoslovak Republic.

The article is devoted to the literary and philosophical origins of Sergei Durylin’s report “On a Symbol in Dostoevsky” (the report was read in 1926 at a meeting of the Commission for the Study of Dostoevsky at the Literary Section of GAKhN). The history of the report in the context of the Literary Section is considered. Аbstracts and debates on the report are published for the first time. The relationship of Durylin’s ideas with the complex of Dostoevsky’s interpretations, developed by both the Symbolists (G.I. Chulkov) and Russian religious philosophers (P.A. Florensky, A.F. Losev) is shown. Both the report “On a Symbol in Dostoevsky’s” and the subsequent report “Landscape in Dostoevsky’s” are devoted to an anthropological and Christological story, connected with the symbolism of the setting sun, the symbolism of “oblique rays”, and its embodiment in Dostoevsky’s novels. Both texts are a continuation and a development of the same theme. A landscape is an artist’s mapping of nature, the created world; interiors are the artist’s image of the anthropomorphic world, the human space. The ontological symbol receives its sociocultural projection: a landscape or an interior. The problem of the relationship between the mapping/image and the object of the image, the problem of the ontological status of reality and its embodiment in the artistic/mythopoetic language, reflected in the report, corresponded to the focus of GAKhN on the development of a new “language of things” and a new concept of the humanitarian knowledge. The article is timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of F.M. Dostoevsky, the 135th anniversary of S.N. Durylin, and the 100th anniversary of GAKhN.

The joint exhibition of National Museum of Czech Republic and Slovak National Museum dedicated to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the creation of Czechoslovakia was an opportunity to create a cooperative international educational program for the children of school age to effectively learn about modern history.

The article is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the library.

These are the first two volumes out of the ten planned by the National Museum in Cracow, which together will constitute the publication of the body of work donated to the museum by Feliks “Manggha” Jasieński. One volume presents the collector’s creative biography and the history of his various collections. There are also attempts to interpret the nature of the content of his collections, mainly woodcuts and other Japanese objects, as well as modern Polish art, paintings, engravings (together with a set of European engravings) and decorative arts. The second volume is the first part of a monumental catalogue of the collection which covers drawings, watercolours and pastels by Polish artists. The subsequent eight volumes are envisaged to cover particular parts of this extensive collection (of Polish, European and Eastern paintings, drawings, sculpture, engravings and decorative arts). This enormous undertaking marks the 100th anniversary of Jasieński’s donation (1920–2020), and, as Zofia Gułubiew put it, is intended to visualise and fix the extent and variety of the collection in the public’s awareness. The publishing project by the National Museum in Cracow is extremely valuable, and it should be hoped that it will succeed as intended.

Статья посвящена культурным связям между Республикой Тыва и Монголией в связи со 100-летием российско-монгольских дипломатических отношений. Автор приводит обзор ряда фактов из истории тувинского и монгольского изобразительного искусства, совместных выставочных проектов. Так, ключевыми событиями, повлиявшими на творчество мастеров, стали первая крупная выставка тувинских художников и Нади Рушевой в Монгольской Народной Республике в 1984 году, другие выставки в Монголии, Москве и Туве, групповые обменные поездки монгольских и тувинских художников в XX–XXI веках. Важными для сотрудничества стали выставки 2017 года: рисунков Нади Рушевой в Улан-Баторе и восковых фигур «Хаан хаанов» из Музея Чингисхана (Улан-Батор) в Национальном музее имени Алдан-Маадыр Республики Тыва. The article is devoted to the issue of cultural ties between the Republic of Tyva (or Tuva) and Mongolia in view of the 100th anniversary of the Russian-Mongolian diplomatic relations. The author gives an overview of a number of facts from the history of Tuvan and Mongolian fine art, joint exhibition projects. Thus, the key events that influenced the work of the masters were the first large exhibition of Tuvan artists and Nadya Rusheva in the Mongolian People's Republic in 1984, other exhibitions in Mongolia, Moscow and Tuva, group exchange trips of Mongolian and Tuvan artists in the 20th and 21st centuries. Exhibitions of 2017 became important for the development of Tuvan-Mongolian cultural relations: drawings by Nadya Rusheva in Ulaanbaatar and wax figures “Khaan Khaans” from the Genghis Khan Museum (Ulaanbaatar) in the National Museum named after Aldan-Maadyr of the Republic of Tyva.

In 1976 we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the formal birth of our country. In our protracted war for independence, the freedom loving people of the United States were engaged in a bitter struggle against the greatest world power of that time. The war was not over at the time of independence. But that declaration symbolized both the beginning of the end of colonialism in America and the coming into the world community of a new state, the United States of America. The British neither recognized our right to self-determination, nor the declaration of independence, nor did they voluntarily hand over power to us. We seized it because it was our inalienable right.
