Abstract: The massive arrival of foreign people in the last decades has originated a new group of people with new healthcare needs. The aim of this paper is to ensure the hypothesis that a previous interpreter-doctor contact or an out of the routine encounter contributes to improve the interpreting services during the consultation and it enhances better quality. To that end, some key factors such as communication, roles, code of ethics, law, clinical interview stages and visibility are studied in this research work. We have carried out an observational, descriptive and follow-up study and a case study to discover the opinions of professional interpreters and healthcare professionals. Finally, the previous encounter assumption is confirmed based on the findings of the study. In this sense, medical interpreting constitutes an interesting growing field. This research focuses on the mentioned field due to the lack of studies.

The growing use of “smart” toys has made it increasingly important to understand the various privacy implications of their use by children and families. The article is a case study of how the risks to young children’s privacy, posed by the commercial data collection of producers of “smart” toys, were represented in the media. Relying on a content analysis of media coverage in twelve European countries and Australia collected during the Christmas season of 2016/2017, and reporting on a follow-up study in selected countries during the Christmas season of 2017/2018, our article illustrates how the issue of children’s privacy risks was dealt with in a superficial manner, leaving relevant stakeholders without substantive information about the issue; and with minimum representation of children’s voices in the coverage itself.

This case study describes a recent learning activity involving pharmacy undergraduate students in which a final (fourth) year student trained 21 second year students to administer questionnaires about antibiotic resistance to over 700 student users of a large university building. The aim was to raise awareness of the problem of antibiotic resistance.  The second year students were also trained to correct any misapprehensions held by the questionnaire participants about antibiotic resistance, and to encourage them to become "Antibiotic Guardians". Finally the 22 students analysed the data to give a picture of what the other students understood about antibiotic resistance.  Peer-assisted learning therefore cascaded from a single fourth year student to 21 second year students and then to 700 students from various disciplines and year groups.  The first stage of the cascade was evaluated and the 21 second year students overwhelmingly believed that their knowledge of antibiotic resistance was enhanced.  A follow-up study using the same questionnaire will be used to determine whether the exercise was effective in raising awareness of antibiotic resistance among the body of students surveyed.

Some of the main challenges faced in accounting education are developing professional skills and encouraging deep learning in students. The literature offers numerous accounts of the case study method as a successful tool for developing professional skills and linking theory with practice. This paper reports on a follow-up study which aimed to contribute to the field in three ways: 1) in corroborating the findings of a prior study on case studies as a tool to develop professional skills, 2) by investigating whether changes in the way the case study was administered had an effect on students’ perceived development, and 3) by gaining some insight into the actual learning that took place by analyzing the assessment outcomes. The findings show that the changes in the way the assignment was administered had no significant effect on the perceptions of students, but that team selection and the provision of homework assistance should be carefully considered. The assessment results support students’ generally positive perceptions on their development of certain professional skills, although deep learning seems to remain a challenge. The paper highlights the importance of research in the field of teaching and learning in accounting education in order to better equip accounting students for the “real world”.

BACKGROUND In a previous study, we assessed burnout in geriatric healthcare workers during the first lockdown that lasted from March to May 2020 in France, in response to the Covid-19 crisis. OBJECTIVE We carried out a follow-up study to assess burnout in the same population during the second lockdown that was implemented at the end of October 2020. METHODS We carried out an online study to assess burnout in the geriatric healthcare workers. RESULTS We found higher levels of exhaustion, disengagement, and burnout among geriatric healthcare workers during the second than during the first lockdown. We also found high levels of exhaustion but moderate disengagement and burnout during the second lockdown. CONCLUSIONS The increased exhaustion, disengagement, and burnout during the second lockdown can be attributed to the increased workload in geriatric facilities throughout this crisis and during the second lockdown due to shortage in staff and increased number of shifts and allocated duties. The high levels of exhaustion reported among geriatric healthcare workers during the second lockdown can reflect their physical fatigue, as well as their feelings of being emotionally overextended and exhausted by their workload.

Iatrogenic or drug induced disease is of great clinical significance in therapeutics. Treatment with antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and antipsychotics reveal Bruxism (excessive grinding and clenching of the teeth) as such type of iatrogenic disease, however it is rarely found with atypical antipsychotic drugs like Olanzapine. A 50-year male patient, suffering from schizophrenia was under regular antipsychotic medication receiving Tab. Olanzapine 5 mg O.D., Tab. Clonazepam 0.5 mg O.D. regularly for past 25 years. Recently he gradually developed excessive grinding and clenching of teeth despite of any dental and ENT clinical complications. Biochemical and hematological tests also showed normal result. On admission with the complication of bruxism, tab. Olanzapine dose was reduced to 2.5 mg OD, however even after dose reduction there was not much improvement in bruxism. On the 4th day of the admission tab. Olanzapine has been substituted with tab. Clozapine 50 mg TDS. After 1 week of withdrawal of Olanzapine there was no complain of bruxism and he was discharged. On follow up after 1month the complication was occasional. Causality assessment revealed a probable relation between Olanzapine and Bruxism. Though among the atypical neuroleptics, extrapyramidal side effects are thought to be less common with olanzapine, but it may cause fatal consequences. Therefore, this case study and proper investigation may be helpful in designing the treatment strategy in more effective way and also aware all the healthcare professionals to monitor the patients on neuroleptics.

One of the challenges of the Secretary-General of Dewan Perwakilan Daerah Republik Indonesia (Setjen DPD RI) is to support both development of National Legislation Priority (Prolegnas) and the Bill of DPD RI. Researchers and policy analysts possess a strategic position in facing the challenge. However, researchers and policy analysts have not had clear roles, tasks, and functions yet on the making of both Prolegnas and the Bill. This study aims to provide a model of role for researchers and policy analysts on the making of both Prolegnas and the Bill in Setjen DPD RI. This study uses qualitative case study approach and aims to show that both researchers and policy analysts have each different roles. The differences can be seen from the momentum of task implementation, output, and the level of influence. This study recommends a follow-up study that will explore the role of all employees involved on the making of Prolegnas and the Bill of DPD RI

Scanning microscopy was used to study the surface of human gallstones and the surface of fractures. The specimens were obtained by operation, washed with water, dried at room temperature and shadowcasted with carbon and aluminum. Most of the specimens belong to patients from a series of X-ray follow-up study, examined during the last twenty years. So it was possible to evaluate approximately the age of these gallstones and to get information on the intensity of growing and solving.Cholesterol, a group of bile pigment substances and different salts of calcium, are the main components of human gallstones. By X-ray diffraction technique, infra-red spectroscopy and by chemical analysis it was demonstrated that all three components can be found in any gallstone. In the presence of water cholesterol crystallizes in pane-like plates of the triclinic crystal system.
