The problem of walking machine leg transfer is considered. Optimal laws of transfer are determined with regards to geometrical features of ground and underwater. Complex optimality criterion is introduced as sum of indexes of quality of the movement multiplied each by weight coefficients. The solution is presented based on walking machine “Ortonog”.

Experiments on mechanical deformable vocal folds replicas are important in physical studies of human voice production to understand the underlying fluid–structure interaction. At current date, most experiments are performed for constant initial conditions with respect to structural as well as geometrical features. Varying those conditions requires manual intervention, which might affect reproducibility and hence the quality of experimental results. In this work, a setup is described which allows setting elastic and geometrical initial conditions in an automated way for a deformable vocal fold replica. High-speed imaging is integrated in the setup in order to decorrelate elastic and geometrical features. This way, reproducible, accurate and systematic measurements can be performed for prescribed initial conditions of glottal area, mean upstream pressure and vocal fold elasticity. Moreover, quantification of geometrical features during auto-oscillation is shown to contribute to the experimental characterization and understanding.

Abstract The popularity of TCP/IP has resulted in an increase in usage of best-effort networks for real-time communication. Much effort has been spent to ensure quality of service for soft real-time traffic over IP networks. The Internet Engineering Task Force has proposed some architecture components, such as Active Queue Management (AQM). The paper investigates the influence of the weighted moving average on packet waiting time reduction for an AQM mechanism: the RED algorithm. The proposed method for computing the average queue length is based on a difference equation (a recursive equation). Depending on a particular optimality criterion, proper parameters of the modified weighted moving average function can be chosen. This change will allow reducing the number of violations of timing constraints and better use of this mechanism for soft real-time transmissions. The optimization problem is solved through simulations performed in OMNeT++ and later verified experimentally on a Linux implementation

In location problems we want to determine the best way to serve a set of clients, or communities, whose location and demand are known. This implies to decide the number and location of the facilities, the size or capacity of each facility, and the allocation of the demand points to the open facilities in order to optimize some objective function. The type of optimality criterion depends on the nature of the activities or of the equipment to be installed. Most location models deal with desirable facilities, such as warehouses, service and transportation centers, emergency services, and so forth, which interacts with the customers and where usually travel is involved. The typical criteria for such decisions include minimizing some function of the distances between facilities and/or clients. However, during the last two or three decades, those responsible for the areas overall development, where the new equipment is going to be located (i.e., central government, local authorities) as well as those living there, are showing an increasing interest in preserving the area’s quality of life.

Abstract In this work, the authors present a robust and integrated procedure for the design of multi-stage gear pumps to be used in dry sump system applications. Based on the target delivery flow rate, rotational speed and fluid properties, the developed iterative method enables to directly obtain the geometrical features and the working parameters of the pump components, such as gearpair specifics, shaft and journal bearing dimensions, clearance values. The methodology is then applied to a case study in order to highlight its features and detail the achievable outcomes. Quality of the results is assessed by means of a CFD analysis, demonstrating the capability to obtain the expected volumetric efficiency.

An experimental analysis is presented which investigates the relationship between cutting parameters and the volume of material removal as well as its cutting quality on a Nd:YAG laser cutting system. The parameters that varied on two testing thickness during cutting include cutting speed, incident laser power and focal position in a continuous through cut. Various trends of the kerf geometrical features in terms of the varying process parameters are analyzed and shown to be reasonable. Discussions are also given on kerf geometry control in situations with cutting parameters. It shows that the effects of varying parameters such as cutting speed, laser power and focal position on cutting kerf width, surface roughness, and striation that have provided a deeper understanding of the laser machining.

Abstract Objective To construct the evaluation index system of general medical graduates' competence, provide the basis for improving the comprehensive quality of general medical graduates and promoting the further reform and optimization of the training program of general medical talents in colleges. Methods Two rounds of expert consultation by Delphi method were used to determine the evaluation index system of general practice graduates' competence. AHP was used to calculate the weights of all levels of indicators.Result The evaluation index system of general practice graduates' competence is constructed with 3 primary factors, 9 secondary factors and 32 tertiary factors. Delphi results showed that the positive coefficient of experts was 1 and the authority coefficient was 0.858. Index system weight results showed that the weights of knowledge, skill and quality were 0.1532、0.4207 and 0. 4261 respectively. Among the second-level factors, the top three weight coefficients were professional ethics (0.2614), community practice(0.1526) and communication skills (0.1308).Conclusion This study constructed the evaluation index system of general practice graduates' competence, which can be used as the basis to evaluate the ability of general practice graduates and provide guidance for the cultivation and evaluation of general practice talents.

An approach to solving the problem of stabilizing the nozzle of the apparatus for the production of polymer products mounted on a robotic manipulator is proposed. An approach to constructing a stabilization algorithm with respect to a given program of spatial printing in the form of a solution to the problem of designing optimal controllers is proposed. The simulation of the stabilization process with simultaneous deviation in coordinates and velocities is carried out. The infl uence of the weight matrix values in the expression for the optimality criterion on the fi nal stabilization accuracy is analyzed.

It was proposed to improve the existing method of determining the quality of interaction of the elements of subsystems of the Machine Operator-Machining Center-Control Program for manufacturing parts (MO-MC-CP) system. This method combines estimates of social (machine operator), technical (machining center), and informational (control program for manufacturing parts) subsystems. Improvements were achieved through the use of four independent indices which are defined separately. One index takes into account single, double and triple interactions of integrated indicators where values of specific weight of weight coefficients depend on the sample size. The other three indices are a synergistic effect where the weight coefficients do not depend on the sample size. Therefore, the model of this index was modified at the expense of additional subsystems. Existing approaches to determining the indices are not focused on the assessment of the quality of interaction of the MO-MC-CP system, have software limitations, and work with limited sample sizes. With this in mind, it was decided to improve the existing tools of determining the quality indices of interaction to assess levels of interaction of the subsystem elements. The proposed software-implemented methods and the technology of index assessment improve the efficiency of the assessment of complex systems. Experimental verification has shown the superiority of interaction quality indices over those in the existing methods. A sign of efficiency is as follows: a smaller value of mean-square deviation of the proposed indices in comparison with the existing ones: S(ІQI1)=0.812; S(ІQI2)=0.271; S(ІQI3)=0.675; S(ІQI4)=0.57 and S(І)=0.947; S(І)=0.833; S(І)=0.594, respectively. The results obtained in the study of the interaction quality index are useful and important because they make it possible to better assess the interaction of subsystem elements and apply the proposed technology at industrial enterprises.
