Background Estimation of stature is usually done by measurement of the long bones. Although hand and foot dimensions are useful in predicting stature, they are population-specific. Methods We compared the accuracy of predicting stature by hand and foot dimensions, with long bone (tibia and ulna) lengths, and developed a stature predictive regression formula from the parameters used for the sample population in Kolhapur. We recorded hand and foot measurements and long bone measurements of 1000 consenting participants 18–50 years of age using a stadiometer for height and an anthropometric rod compass for other measurements. Correlation between the variables and stature was determined using Pearson’s correlation analysis (p<0.05). A multiple linear regression formula was derived for the prediction of stature. Results A positive correlation was observed between mean stature and foot length (r=0.67, p<0.05), tibia (r=0.66, p<0.05), ulna (r= 0.75, p<0.05) and hand length (r=0.69 left, r=0.72 right, p<0.05). There was no correlation between foot breadth and stature. Multiple linear regression analysis of hand and foot dimensions returned R2=62.96 and standard error of estimate 4.689 with comparable computed and experimental measurements. Conclusion The dimensions of the hand and foot can be used to predict stature. The formula derived from the multiple regression analysis incorporating hand and foot dimensions is a good fit to estimate stature in the study population.

We applied the seismic net-pay (SNP) method to an oil discovery and predicted thicknesses consistent with the actual thicknesses at the wellbore locations. This was accomplished by applying the method in a self-calibrating mode that did not require the direct use of well information. For net-pay estimation under a self-calibration scenario, the SNP method thickness estimates proved to be more accurate (mean absolute prediction error at well validation locations under [Formula: see text]) than estimates from a reflectivity-based detuning method ([Formula: see text]) or multiple linear regression ([Formula: see text]). Statistical [Formula: see text]-tests indicated that the correspondences of the predicted thickness estimates with actual net-pay values for the SNP and reflectivity methods (F approximately 5.5–6 for both) were statistically significant, whereas the multiple regression results did not prove to be statistically significant.

Abstract Solar Energy is the most popular among several clean energies. As a tropical country, Indonesia has big opportunity to develop solar power, particularly in East Kalimantan which spans around the equator. Solar energy generation, however, is influenced by weather parameters which give uncertain values of the amount of the captured energy. Therefore, this research is conducted to overcome the effect of weather towards solar energy. The aim of this research is to examine the model for sun power forecasting based on the data. The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Multiple Linear Regression have taken as the approach models to determine energy forecasting. This study used five input variables; temperature, precipitation level, humidity, wind speed, and surface pressure, while the solar radiation was taken as the output variable. Moreover, the daily solar power and weather data from East Kalimantan has been taken along the period of 27th July 2018 – 28th July 2021. The result of this study showed that the RMSE of ANN was slightly similar with the multiple linear regression methods which were calculated by 160.26 and 160.46 respectively. However, the ANN is preferable to use in the solar energy forecasting since the tendency of nonlinearity of the climate data.
