The Role of Identity Management Life Cycle

The life cycle management of a person's identity includes the technologies used for provisioning and password resets, the processes and policies associated with different technologies, and the important events that happen around the management issues of a person's identity. This chapter will discuss the entire process in managing the life cycle of identities using scenarios in illustrating how life cycle management is being used in handling the different activities in IAM.

This article examines the influence of contract life cycle management on procurement performance of Local Governments in Uganda using Bugiri District as the case study. The three specific objectives of this study were to: examine the influence of contract creation on procurement performance; to assess the influence of contract execution on procurement performance and lastly, to determine the influence of contract analysis on procurement performance. The researcher employed a descriptive case study research design. Using a researcher’s made five point Likert scale questionnaire, data was collected from a sample of respondents. Seventy (70) respondents out of a population of eighty (80) were selected using purposive and random sampling techniques (response rate of 94.3%). Data was analyzed using means and the regression analysis. Findings revealed that; the extent to which contract creation predicts performance was low (r2 = 0.36, Sig. Value= 0.000); the extent to which contract execution influences procurement performance was low (r2 = 0.34, Sig. Value = 0.003) and lastly, the extent to which contract analysis influences procurement performance was moderate (r2 =0.44, Sig. Value = 0.001). On the other hand, findings revealed that contract management at Bugiri District local government in Uganda highly and positively influences procurement performance (R2= 0.779 Sig. Value= 0.000). This implies that where each of these variables; contract creation, execution and analysis are handled separately, each has a low influence on procurement performance. However if handled wholesomely, results show that high procurement performance (78%) will be achieved. Life cycle management has become increasingly important in the formulation of regional sustainable development policies and programs, while research on and the application of life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies are predominantly conducted in a business context or for materials and product-related issues. In light of the growing importance of regional policymaking, this article discusses the current scientific landscape of regional life cycle management approaches. It conducts a bibliometric analysis using the Scopus database and integrates a co-word analysis to highlight important linkages. Our analysis reveals that an increasing number of papers have been published on regional-level LCAs in recent years; however, they remain focused on issues related to the traditional materials-oriented aspects. Conversely, little research appears to be conducted on regional life cycle management issues and activities. The research is strongly centralized, with a clustering of regional LCA studies within a relatively small group of countries, institutes, journals and authors. Despite a rapid increase in recently published papers, our analysis reveals a gap in research and knowledge transfer of regional LCA results to public policymakers and regional planners.

Improving the efficiency of life cycle management of capital construction projects using information modeling technologies is one of the important tasks of the construction industry. The paper presents an analysis of accumulated domestic practices, including the legal and regulatory framework, assessing the effectiveness of managing the implementation of investment construction projects and of complex and serial capital construction projects, as well as the life cycle management of especially dangerous technically complex and unique capital construction projects using information modeling technologies, especially capital construction projects, as well as their supporting and using systems, primarily in the nuclear and transport sectors. A review of modern approaches to assessing the effectiveness of life cycle management systems of complex engineering systems in relation to capital construction projects is carried out. The presented material will make it possible to formulate the basic principles and prospects of applying approaches to assessing the effectiveness of the life cycle management system of a capital construction project using information modeling technologies.


The variants of the division of the life cycle of a construction object at the stages adopted in the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as in other countries are considered. Particular attention is paid to the exemplary work plan – "RIBA plan of work", used in England. A feature of this document is its applicability in the information modeling of construction projects (Building information Modeling – BIM). The article presents a structural and logical scheme of the life cycle of a building object and a list of works that are performed using information modeling technology at various stages of the life cycle of the building. The place of information models in the process of determining the service life of the building is shown. On the basis of the considered sources of information, promising directions for the development of the life cycle management system of the construction object (Life Cycle Management) and the development of the regulatory framework in order to improve the use of information modeling in construction are given.
