Assessing the Maturity of Green IT Adoption Within the Philippine Manufacturing Industry

Green IT is the sustainable use of computing resources in organizations with minimal or no impact on the environment. The role of Green IT is recognized to achieve sustainability in organizations. This study presents the extent of Green IT adoption in a developing country. This study used GIT maturity model to assess the overall level of Green IT maturity among manufacturing organizations. The results suggest that participants recognized Green IT, however, a low level of maturity is found within the manufacturing organizations. To further Green IT adoption in organizations, practical and research implications are presented.

Drawing from this need, this article aims to examine the influential factors that affect Green IT adoption in SMEs. This article is an initial attempt to understand the Green IT adoption experience of SMEs in the Philippines. A framework is created encompassing the interactions of factors that facilitate the successful Green IT adoption of SMEs in developing countries. The framework was then analyzed with data from multiple case studies of Philippine SMEs. The results suggest that individual attitude, IT infrastructure, managerial support, availability of budget, and government support have significantly facilitated Green IT adoption in SMEs. The results of this article will assist business owners, policymakers, and industry associations to further Green IT adoption by SMEs in the Philippines. Practical and research implications are presented.

The purpose this study is to examine the importance of incorporating both technical-oriented and people-oriented Total Quality Management (TQM) within the context of the Malaysian manufacturing industry with the aim of improving overall productivity within the industry. The study adopts a quantitative approach usingPearson’s correlation and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to investigate the relationships between technical- and people-oriented TQM, production performance and productivity on a sample of 169 senior production or TQM managers. The results demonstrated substantial evidence whereby technical-oriented TQM dimensions, namely ‘benchmarking’, ‘quality measurement’ and ‘process improvement’ exhibited significant impact on production performance and productivity. Furthermore, people-oriented TQM dimensions, namely ‘employee focus’, ‘customer focus’ and ‘supplier relations’ played a significant role in enhancing productivity. As such, the results of the study suggest that both TQM orientations are crucial for a successful adoption of TQM. The findings of the effect of TQM dimensions on production performance and productivity of Malaysian manufacturing organizations have been encouraging. Future studies should exploredeterminants of productivity that is in line with the business landscape of specific industries, in order to meet the growing demands of high-quality outputs.

We investigated the change of tryptophan-niacin metabolism in rats with puromycin aminonucleoside PAN-induced nephrosis, the mechanisms responsible for their change of urinary excretion of nicotinamide and its metabolites, and the role of the kidney in tryptophan-niacin conversion. PAN-treated rats were intraperitoneally injected once with a 1.0% (w/v) solution of PAN at a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight. The collection of 24-hour urine was conducted 8 days after PAN injection. Daily urinary excretion of nicotinamide and its metabolites, liver and blood NAD, and key enzyme activities of tryptophan-niacin metabolism were determined. In PAN-treated rats, the sum of urinary excretion of nicotinamide and its metabolites was significantly lower compared with controls. The kidneyα-amino-β-carboxymuconate-ε-semialdehyde decarboxylase (ACMSD) activity in the PAN-treated group was significantly decreased by 50%, compared with the control group. Although kidney ACMSD activity was reduced, the conversion of tryptophan to niacin tended to be lower in the PAN-treated rats. A decrease in urinary excretion of niacin and the conversion of tryptophan to niacin in nephrotic rats may contribute to a low level of blood tryptophan. The role of kidney ACMSD activity may be minimal concerning tryptophan-niacin conversion under this experimental condition.

Background: The term "ovarian cancer" includes several different types of cancer that  arise from cells of the ovary, most commonly, tumors arise from the epithelium or lining cells of the ovary.  Ovarian cancer risk is positively associated with higher consumption of dietary cholesterol and eggs, and inversely associated with a higher intake of vegetables. High consumption of fats may increase circulating estrogen levels, thus increasing the possibility of cell damage and proliferation that is responsible for cancerous growth. Material & Methods: The present study was conducted at Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, Udaipur (Rajasthan). Total  100 cases (females) attending the obstetrics and gynecology department for some gynecological and other problem  were selected for this study between the age of 40-60 years, who were attending cancer centre at GEETANJALI MEDICAL COLLEGE AND  HOSPITAL, Udaipur (Rajasthan).                GROUP I: - It consisted of healthy females control subjects (n=50) .By routine examination and tests, we ensured that all the subjects were healthy and there were no signs and symptoms or history of ovarian tumor and diseases GROUP II: - It consisted of ovarian cancer females subjects (n=50) with a history of ovarian tumor. Results:   Higher level of cholesterol, LDL, VLDL and low level of HDL are found in ovarian cancer patients. Conclusion: The present study we highlights the importance and role of serum lipid profile in diagnosis, prognosis and recurrence of the disease. The study shows that serum level of cholesterol, LDL, VLDL was elevated in  patients of ovarian cancer while low level of HDL are found in ovarian cancer patients. Purpose- The primary purpose of the study is to determine the impact of organizational justice (OJ) on employee sustainability. Along with that, it also describes how organizational commitment mediates this direct relationship. This study includes all dimensions of OJ which are distributive, procedural and interactional (interpersonal & informational) within the context of a developing country (Pakistan). Design/Methodology- This study has considered employees working in the banking sector of Pakistan. Two hundred ten questionnaires were received back from employees. Regression analysis was used to analyze direct relationships between variables, while smart partial least squares (PLS) were used for mediation analysis. Findings- Results demonstrated that all hypothesis were accepted and it was also confirmed that organizational commitment (OC) mediates the direct relationship between OJ and employee sustainability (ES). Originality/value- Multidimensional construct of organizational justice was tested in this study, in the context of a developing country (Pakistan), to address the research gap.
