Web-based customization refers to an e-commerce business model whereby customers can individualize their products via the electronic channel. The success of this business model to a great extent depends on the appropriateness of the information system, which supports online interaction between customer and supplier (Franke & Piller, 2003). For example, computer manufacturers offering their products online enable customers to select the type of components to be built in the final product (e.g., type of processor, motherboards, graphic and sound cards, etc.). This type of interaction is referred to as Web-based product configuration. In order to increase the chances that customers find suitable products, Web-based customization offers large variety. However, due to the limited information processing capacity of humans and lack of technical product knowledge, excessive product variety confuses customers (Piller, Koch, Moeslein, & Schubert, 2003). It triggers decision-making difficulties and uncertainty concerning the suitability of choices. In effect, customers are generally unaware of their needs and not capable of making optimal buying decisions. Furthermore, the support provided by common information systems is more consistency check than real assistance, since their main task is to verify the compatibility of components between each other. On the other hand, the resulting variety brings about an increasing complexity of operations and manufacturing-related tasks on the supplier’s side. The complexity that is perceived by customers during the interaction process is called “external complexity,” whereas complexity that is experienced inside manufacturing and operations is referred to as “internal complexity.” Therefore, a suitable information system that supports Web-based customization should simultaneously address both challenges. It should provide customers with appropriate assistance during the search for adequate products and support suppliers in managing variety. In the following, an information system that is capable of coping with both types of complexity will be developed.

Information on the list of seminar events and seminar registration which is still done manually results in limited information access being given to the seminar participants, besides the data processing process carried out by the committee becomes less effective and efficient. To solve these problems, an online computerized information system is needed that can provide information related to seminar participant registration, data management, and seminar events. With the implementation of this system, it is expected to facilitate access to information about the seminar event schedule and reduce the risk of recording errors in seminar participant registration. This system is also expected to further accelerate the process of making reports which in turn can help the performance of the seminar committee. The research method used is a survey method involving certain people, especially students. Whereas the system development method (SDLC) is carried out using the waterfall method

The object of research is the processes of operation of a web-based information system. The conducted research is based on the application of existing approaches to organizing the operation of IT products, as well as on the previously developed formal model of the problem of managing the operation of an information system. The existing assessment of the satisfaction degree of the requirements for the system was adopted as the main criterion for managing the operation of the information system. The main hypothesis of the study is the assumption that the main criterion for managing the operation of a web-based information system should be considered the efficiency indicator as the ratio of the degree of satisfaction of requests for changes in individual components of the information system and the total costs of operating the system. The analysis of the applicability of the criterion «Satisfaction of the requirements of users of the information system» is carried out and its incomplete objectivity is shown for describing the goals of managing the operation of the information system. The use of the management efficiency indicator is substantiated, the features of the use of this indicator for solving the problem of managing the operation of the information system are considered. The existence of two approaches to determining the efficiency of the operation of an information system is recognized. Based on the results obtained, a concept for managing the operation of a web-based information system is proposed. This concept represents the main task of managing the operation of a web-based information system as a special case of a multicriteria optimization problem, the solution of which will be a Pareto-optimal system. On the basis of the proposed concept, a mathematical model of the problem of effective management of a web-based information system has been developed. To describe the function of the goal in the course of developing the model, it is proposed to move from descriptions of requirements to knowledge-based models of requests for changing the information system. It is also proposed to divide the set of model constraints into two separate complexes – a set of technical management constraints and a set of operating process constraints. Application of the developed model will make it possible to create new information technologies for managing the operation of web-based information systems for enterprise management. In contrast to the existing ones, such technologies will allow formalizing and automating the work on the formation and approval of the most profitable for the participants in the operation of the information system of project plans for fulfilling requests for changes in the operating system.

Poverty is one continuing social issue which is hard to solve. Dealing with this problem, Islam has already had the alternative solution that is tithe (Zakat). Zakat is implemented to decrease economy imbalanced appeared in the society. While in fact, not all the Moslem pay Zakat. There are five factors as the reason why Moslem didn’t do that. First, some Muzakki wants to deliver his zakat directly.Seconde, not all Muzakki know how much Zakat must be paid. The other factors are Limited information about Mustahik home, limited time that Muzakki have to deliver his Zakat directly and the easiness to report Mustahik data. Dealing with those factors, it is required to have an information system which can make Muzakki meets Mustahik. In this research, information system application used Extreme Programming (XP) development method. XP method is required to program a system which will be made by accomodating the users’ needs and expectations.

Aim. The use of intelligent agents in modeling an integrated information system of transport logistics makes it possible to achieve a qualitatively new level of design of control systems in supply chains. Materials and methods. The article presents an original approach that implements the possibilities of using multi-agent technologies in the interests of modeling the processes of functioning of an integrated information system of transport logistics. It is shown that the multi-agent infrastructure is actually a semantic shell of the information system, refl ecting the rules of doing business and the interaction of its participants in the supply chains. The characteristic of the model of the class of an intelligent agent, which is basic for solving problems of management of transport and technological processes, is given. Results. The procedures of functioning of the model of integration of information resources of the participants of the transport services market on the basis of intelligent agents are considered. The presented procedures provide a wide range of network interaction operations in supply chains, including traffi c and network structure “fl exible” control, mutual exchange of content and service information, as well as their distributed processing, and information security. Conclusions. The proposed approach showed that the use of intelligent agents in modeling the functioning of an integrated information system makes it possible to take into account the peculiarities of transport and technological processes in supply chains, such as the integration of heterogeneous enterprises, their distributed organization, an open dynamic structure, standardization of products, interfaces and protocols.

Information system maintenance is an important aspect of information system development, especially in systems that provide dynamic content, such as Web-based systems and Knowledge Management Systems (KMS). Design for Maintenance (DFM) is an approach that argues that maintenance effort should be considered during the design of information systems in addition to the usual system design considerations. This research examines how the design of links among knowledge documents in a KMS affects both their maintenance and use. We argue that providing links among knowledge documents increases the cost of maintenance because when a document changes, the documents that link to and from that document are more likely to need changes. At the same, linking knowledge documents makes it easier to locate useful knowledge and thus increases use. We examine this tension between use and maintenance using 10 years of data from a well-established KMS. Our results indicate that as the number of links among documents increases, both maintenance effort and use for these documents increase. Our analyses suggest two DFM principles for dynamic content in practice. First, knowledge coupling (i.e., linking) to documents internal to the KMS rather than sources external to the KMS better balances maintenance effort and use. Second, designing small, knowledge cohesive documents (e.g., 250-350 words) leads to the best balance between maintenance effort and use.
