Blockchain is the new “buzz” word that has attracted the attention of industries and businesses. It is an innovative technology that provides information exchange in an efficient and transparent manner. It has a wide range of application varying from cryptocurrency, healthcare, risk management, education, financial services, internet of things (IoT), border security to public services. However, security issues and threats of this novel technology is also an important topic. In this chapter, the authors provide a comprehensive study of applications, challenges, and issues and how to combat them in the blockchain. Major areas of concern are security, scalability, cryptocurrency's malicious attacks, etc.

Blockchain-based technology is becoming increasingly popular and is now used to solve a wide range of tasks. And it's not all about cryptocurrencies. Even though it's based on secure technology, a blockchain needs protection as well. The risks of exploits, targeted attacks, or unauthorized access can be mitigated by the instant incident response and system recovery. Blockchain technology relies on a ledger to keep track of all financial transactions. Ordinarily, this kind of master ledger would be a glaring point of vulnerability. Another tenet of security is the chain itself. Configuration flaws, as well as insecure data storage and transfers, may cause leaks of sensitive information. This is even more dangerous when there are centralized components within the platform. In this chapter, the authors will demonstrate where the disadvantages of security and privacy in blockchain are currently and discuss how blockchain technology can improve these disadvantages and outlines the requirements for future solution.

Where treatment and health care is no longer able to bring relief and improve functioning, social care should take over. In this chapter, we discuss the development of social care in the context of adult autism, and the range of its concerns and interests is considered. The key role of the social worker, particularly as a broker of social care, is developed. Health professionals define the need for reasonable adjustments to assessed disability, and the content of a personal passport, summarizing individual’s needs. Health professionals also have a key role in risk management, although the social worker may have a key co-ordinating role. A wide range of contexts for social care within and beyond health care is considered. The distinction between individual need and care planning, and the role of the wider society, which will be covered in Chapter 14, concludes this chapter.

Blockchain is one of the most growing technologies that is playing a vital role in the professional world today. Blockchain is the technology that is going to revolutionize many industries in the future including healthcare. It is simply defined as a decentralized, distributed ledger that records the provenance of a digital asset. Blockchain is used as a backbone for many industries such as cryptocurrencies, bitcoin, and many more. Although its capability and application have to be extended far beyond. The objective of blockchain is to allow digital information to be recorded and distributed, but not edited. In the last couple of years many industries finding new ways to implement blockchain technology with a wide range of domains. And this sudden increase in technology also provided many new application opportunities, including financial services, smart contracts, energy trading, supply chain, healthcare, etc. In this paper, we know briefly about blockchain technologies and some of their applications. We also show how blockchain is going to revolutionize the healthcare industry in the future.

This chapter intends to document the various ways that the nascent technology, blockchain, and other forms of distributed ledger technology (DLT) can provide both increased and decreased risk as well as offer FinTech industries a fertile environment to pursue key technological advancements that can help shape almost every facet of the financial world. Issues of trust, transparency, and privacy will be explored as it pertains to the execution of blockchain technology within financial sectors. Strengths and weakness will be explored within regulations, legal environments, risk management, and the environment. Based on the findings of a comprehensive literature review, possible solutions and recommendations will be provided for governmental agencies, regulators, and users of financial services with a special focus on Islamic FinTech. Future research directions will also be shared that can assist Islamic FinTech.

This paper is an attempt to reassess the role of the Locarno Treaties (1925) in terms of the Versailles-Washington system of international relations evolution. The authors argue that the Locarno Treaties represent one of the turning points in the development of the international order after World War I. The Treaties were not a mere add-on to the Versailles system, in fact, they had replaced it and became the main legal instrument for maintaining security in the region. In order to test this hypothesis and provide a better understanding of how the contemporaries themselves assessed these agreements, the authors examine them within a broader context of debates on the European security issues, which took place in the 1920s.The views of the British elites on this matter are of particular interest here, since it was the British diplomacy that was at the origin of the Locarno Conference in 1925. The paper draws on a wide range of recently declassified archival documents, as well as on the materials of the debates in the House of Commons and publications in the leading British newspapers. It allows the authors to trace the evolution of approaches by the main British political parties to security issues in Europe. A systematic comparison of views of the Conservative and the Labour party representatives on the Geneva Protocol and the Rhineland Pact shows that by mid-1920s the British political elites advocated for an in-depth transformation of the Versailles order, particularly, through the development of an effective mechanism for maintaining international security. On that basis a broad political consensus had arisen, which led to the formation of a new two-party structure (Tory-Labour) after World War I.The study begins with an overview of the political situation in Europe and in Great Britain in the early 1920s. Then, it examines the Labour Party’s draft of the Disarmament Protocol, as well as the principal causes of its failure. Finally, the paper covers the preparatory process for and the progress of the Locarno negotiations. Special attention is paid to the debates in the House of Commons on the conference, particularly, on its outcome document - the Rhineland Pact.

Abstract. There are a number of different financial market institutions such as banks, credit unions, leasing and insurance companies, as well as capital market players in Lithuania. The bank sector makes the largest part of the financial market (more than 80%). Thus, the bank sector has a considerable influence on the country’s economy. Banks are not specialized in Lithuania, i.e. they are universal banks which seek to provide quite a wide range of financial services. The successful performance of a bank mostly depends on how it succeeds to manage the risks. The problems of risk management are becoming an object of exceptional attention while enhancing the variety of analysed risks as well as developing the investigation instruments both in the whole world and in Lithuania. Loans make the largest part of bank assets. So, the loan risk management is one of the most important guarantees of safe banking. The article considers the possibility of including the technology of sample-engineering in the process of training students - future teachers of Musical Arts. The purpose of the article is to highlight the concept “sample-engineering” in its historical and technical aspects and to determine the possibilities of practical application of the innovative technology for arranging musical material by future teachers of Musical Arts. The main development stages of the technology facilitating the artificial production of non-traditional sound tones are considered, it is associated with the revolutionary inventions obtained at the end of the twentieth century and a qualitative breakthrough in microprocessor technology, which allowed us to significantly increase the volume and speed of information processing as well as the role of discoveries in the field of applied music programs and provided the emergence of new ideas regarding sound synthesis. The author describes the features of three technological stages related to sound synthesis, sampling and sample-engineering, as well as to new opportunities that are opened up for musicians through their use. The distinguishing features of using these technologies and devices are presented, in particular, the features of the sampling phenomenon and the emergence of a new variety of electronic keyboard instruments – a sampler in the memory banks of which you can store sounds that are “borrowed” from the environment. Particular attention is drawn to the importance of the widespread practice of developing modern sample-engineering technology which arose due to the microprocessor technology and the opportunity to convert an analogue sound to a digital one without any noticeable loss in quality. The essence of the concept “engineering”, the significance of its use in musical practice and the main stages-tasks of using the technology of sample-engineering in the educational process are revealed. The universal role of the computer in the application of the sample-engineering technology is determined, its technical capabilities growing when connecting external sound sources (tone generators) to it. The article substantiates the feasibility and prospects for the future teachers of Musical Arts to study the sampling-engineering technology a good command of which might allow them to achieve timbre diversity and greater artistic expression in the processing of school songs arranged by them and in their own creativity. The work reveals the prospects of using the technology of sample engineering as a way to increase the capabilities of future specialists-arrangers to process musical material, the importance of mastering creative self-realisation by the future teachers in a modern innovative way. The author presents the stage-by-stage process regulating the acquisitions of skills to use sample engineering by students in educational and creative practice alongside the prospects of mastering this technology involving a wide range of teachers of institutions of higher musical and pedagogical education.


Data security is the key to the development of modern internet technology. By allowing digital information to be distributed but not copied, blockchain technology created the backbone of a new type of internet. It allows storage of all transactions into immutable records and every record distributed across many participant’s nodes. As there is huge increase in the use cases for blockchain technology, nowadays, the primary issue is to enable secure data sharing, data integrity and authentication. The goal of this study paper is to provide a systematic literature survey exploring the use of blockchain as a base technology for securing financial as well as non-financial applications. The purpose is to identify the whether blockchain technology is capable to provide the desired security solutions in various application. The advantages, challenges and the solution provided by previous research is discussed. The survey was focused on various security issues like Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authenticity, Accountability, and Reliability. The study shows that the Blockchain technology is prospective for financial and non-financial services since it can provide solutions for majority of security issues. Future research needs to provide the implementations of desired solutions discussed in security challenges of Blockchain technology
