Blockchain is one of the most growing technologies that is playing a vital role in the professional world today. Blockchain is the technology that is going to revolutionize many industries in the future including healthcare. It is simply defined as a decentralized, distributed ledger that records the provenance of a digital asset. Blockchain is used as a backbone for many industries such as cryptocurrencies, bitcoin, and many more. Although its capability and application have to be extended far beyond. The objective of blockchain is to allow digital information to be recorded and distributed, but not edited. In the last couple of years many industries finding new ways to implement blockchain technology with a wide range of domains. And this sudden increase in technology also provided many new application opportunities, including financial services, smart contracts, energy trading, supply chain, healthcare, etc. In this paper, we know briefly about blockchain technologies and some of their applications. We also show how blockchain is going to revolutionize the healthcare industry in the future.

One of the most important discoveries and creative developments that is playing a vital role in the professional world today is blockchain technology. Blockchain technology moves in the direction of persistent revolution and change. It is a chain of blocks that covers information and maintains trust between individuals no matter how far they are. In the last couple of years, the upsurge in blockchain technology has obliged scholars and specialists to scrutinize new ways to apply blockchain technology with a wide range of domains. The dramatic increase in blockchain technology has provided many new application opportunities, including healthcare applications. This survey provides a comprehensive review of emerging blockchain-based healthcare technologies and related applications. In this inquiry, we call attention to the open research matters in this fast-growing field, explaining them in some details. We also show the potential of blockchain technology in revolutionizing healthcare industry.

It is an innovative technology that provides information exchange in an efficient and transparent manner. It has a wide range of application varying from cryptocurrency, healthcare, risk management, education, financial services, internet of things (IoT), border security to public services. However, security issues and threats of this novel technology is also an important topic. In this chapter, the authors provide a comprehensive study of applications, challenges, and issues and how to combat them in the blockchain. Blockchain technology is also one of the emerging technological advances that is expected to change the way transactions are conducted, thus affecting a wide range of potential applications. Blockchain is a distributed software network that works both as a digital logger and a method that allows secure transfer of assets without a mediator. Just as the Internet is a technology that facilitates the flow of digital information, blockchain is a technology that facilitates the digital exchange of digital value. Anything from coins to land titles to votes can be token, stored, and exchanged via a blockchain network.

Blockchain technology has gained considerable attention, with an escalating interest in a plethora of numerous applications, ranging from data management, financial services, cyber security, IoT, and food science to healthcare industry and brain research. There has been a remarkable interest witnessed in utilizing applications of blockchain for the delivery of safe and secure healthcare data management. Also, blockchain is reforming the traditional healthcare practices to a more reliable means, in terms of effective diagnosis and treatment through safe and secure data sharing. In the future, blockchain could be a technology that may potentially help in personalized, authentic, and secure healthcare by merging the entire real-time clinical data of a patient’s health and presenting it in an up-to-date secure healthcare setup. In this paper, we review both the existing and latest developments in the field of healthcare by implementing blockchain as a model. We also discuss the applications of blockchain, along with the challenges faced and future perspectives.

Data security is the key to the development of modern internet technology. By allowing digital information to be distributed but not copied, blockchain technology created the backbone of a new type of internet. It allows storage of all transactions into immutable records and every record distributed across many participant’s nodes. As there is huge increase in the use cases for blockchain technology, nowadays, the primary issue is to enable secure data sharing, data integrity and authentication. The goal of this study paper is to provide a systematic literature survey exploring the use of blockchain as a base technology for securing financial as well as non-financial applications. The purpose is to identify the whether blockchain technology is capable to provide the desired security solutions in various application. The advantages, challenges and the solution provided by previous research is discussed. The survey was focused on various security issues like Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authenticity, Accountability, and Reliability. The study shows that the Blockchain technology is prospective for financial and non-financial services since it can provide solutions for majority of security issues. Future research needs to provide the implementations of desired solutions discussed in security challenges of Blockchain technology

Blockchain technology has been discussed and analyzed throughout numerous practitioner and scholarly applications, but the majority of said analysis has tended to focus on the financial services space. From a blockchain and broader cryptoasset space this seems to make logical sense, but overlooks other potential applications. Specifically, as intellectual assets and intangible property assume greater importance in virtually aspect of the economy, the potential for blockchain and cryptoassets does appear to be increasing. Written in a tone and manner of interest to both practitioner and academic audience, this analysis examines how the Brave browser attempts to rebalance the proverbial scale between who controls the valuable information that continues to dominate the business landscape. In addition this research presents a potential framework for how organizations and individuals can monetize what potentially may be the most value resource going forward – digital information - and do so in a manner that is both equitable as well as leveraging the emerging technology of blockchain.

This study examines the current state of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology applications and their impact on the healthcare industry. In addition to a thorough review of the literature, this study analyzed several real-world examples of AI applications in healthcare. The results indicate that major hospitals are, at present, using AI-enabled systems to augment medical staff in patient diagnosis and treatment activities for a wide range of diseases. In addition, AI systems are making an impact on improving the efficiency of nursing and managerial activities of hospitals. While AI is being embraced positively by healthcare providers, its applications provide both the utopian perspective (new opportunities) and the dystopian view (challenges to overcome). We discuss the details of those opportunities and challenges to provide a balanced view of the value of AI applications in healthcare. It is clear that rapid advances of AI and related technologies will help care providers create new value for their patients and improve the efficiency of their operational processes. Nevertheless, effective applications of AI will require effective planning and strategies to transform the entire care service and operations to reap the benefits of what technologies offer.

PurposeThe world is witnessing the advent of a wide range of technologies like machine learning, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, robotics, additive manufacturing, augmented and virtual reality, cloud computing, Internet of Things and such others. Amidst this concoction of diverse technologies, the future of work is getting redefined. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to understand the future of work in the context of an emerging economy like India.Design/methodology/approachThe authors undertook a qualitative research with a positivist approach. The authors undertook expert interviews with 26 respondents. The respondents were interviewed with a semi-structured open-ended questionnaire. The responses were content analyzed for themes. System dynamics was applied to explicate the phenomenon studied.FindingsThe authors found that the future of work has multiple facets. The authors found that in future, organizations would not only use automation for lower end routine manual jobs, but also for moderate knowledge-centric tasks. Future jobs would have significant data dependency, and employees would be expected to analyze and synthesize data for sense making. Another finding pointed out that in future, individuals would be constantly required for skills upgradation and thus learning would become a continuous lifelong process. In future, individuals would get short-term tasks rather than long-term secured jobs. Thus, job flexibility would be high as freelancing would be a dominant way of work. Organizations would reduce dedicated workspaces and would use co-working spaces to reduce office space investments. In future, jobs that are impregnated with novelty and creativity would remain. A finding of concern was that with the advent of automated technologies a larger portion of workforce would lose jobs and there could be widespread unemployment that might lead to social unrest. The provision of universal basic income has been advocated by some experts to handle social crisis.Research limitations/implicationsThis research is based on an organization centric view that is anchored in the resource-based view and dynamic capabilities. The research contributes to the conversation of human resource co-existence with automated technologies for organizations of tomorrow. Thus, this work specifically contributes to strategic human resource with technology capabilities in organizations.Practical implicationsThese research findings would help organizational design and development practitioners to comprehend what kind of interventions would be required to be future ready to both accommodate technology and human resources. For policy makers, the results of this study would help them design policy interventions that could keep the nation’s workforce job ready in the age of automated technologies through investments in automated technology education.Originality/valueIndia is bestowed with one of the largest English-speaking, technically qualified young workforce working at lower salary levels than their developed county counterparts. The advent of automated technologies ushers in challenges and opportunities for this young qualified workforce to step into future. This is the first study from India that deliberates on the “future of work” in India.
