Sociological Perspectives on Migrant Children's Education

This chapter aims to analyze from a sociological perspective the process of schooling for migrant children based on the observed relationships among students in order to provide inputs to strengthen the dynamics of the Chilean inclusive school system. Its thematic relevance lies in the social impact on minorities of social exclusion in their school experience and its impact on social integration. Through a qualitative approach in five communes of the Santiago metropolitan area (Chile) that concentrate a high migrant population (Bolivian, Colombian, Dominican, Haitian, and Peruvian), the results show the complex social and school reality associated with migration and permanence in the formal school system and migrant group inclusion difficulties in the daily dynamics.

This study aims to find the social impact, morals, and strategies for dealing with COVID-19 among students. Another goal is to find out the social, religious and psychological impact of COVID-19 on students at Ibn Khaldun University, Bogor. The research method approach uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected by in-depth interviews with the head of the student class. The sample was selected through a purposive technique. The results were carefully examined through triangulation. The results showed that students could not establish social relations between students and did not participate in campus social organizations. Another finding, the Covid-19 outbreak has an impact on student morals because online meetings are more difficult to foster student morals because teachers do not meet students. In addition, students experience various stresses due to piling tasks and online learning does not face various obstacles such as difficulty communicating with lecturers and not understanding the material. Students take various ways to overcome stress such as listening to favourite music, watching YouTube, playing games, getting enough rest, eating favourite foods such as eating meatballs, straightening intentions, and also strengthening worship and getting closer to God.

The need to develop adequate methodologies to comprehensively assess the impact of research, especially the social impact of European Union (EU)-funded research, is one of the main concerns within the European Commission as well as for EU citizens, who are more active than ever. This article discusses the rationale behind using a qualitative approach to better address these concerns. Drawing on the FP7 IMPACT-EV research project, the present article discusses how to overcome a positivist approach that evaluates the social impact of research conducted only for its economic objectives and using only quantitative data. The focus on what is needed and what research is expected to bring to society are emphasized and made possible through qualitative inquiry of the social impact of the EU social sciences and the humanities (SSH) research. Thus, the development of qualitative-based analysis of the social impact of research is increasingly required to be conducted in dialogue with citizens.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dampak pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui biogas dalam mewujudkan kemandirian energi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk menemukan dan menganalisis secara detail dampak pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam program biogas di Kampung Areng Desa Cibodas. Ada beberapa dampak yang ditemukan dalam pemberdayaan melalui program biogas ini, seperti dampak ekonomi, berkaitan dengan pengehamatan yang dirasakan masyarakat setelah menggunakan biogas, dampak ekologi, yang terlihat dari terjaganya lingkungan sekitar masyarakat yang lebih bersih dan rapi, dan yang ketiga adalah dampak sosial. The impact of empowering community through biogas program in manifesting energy independence AbstractThe objective of the study was to analyse the impact of empowering community through biogas in manifesting energy independence. Within the study, qualitative approach was implemented in order to identify and analyse the impacts of empowering community within the biogas program in Kampung Areng, Cibodas Village, in details. Then, there are several impacts that have been found within the community empowerment through the biogas program and these impacts are the economy impact, the ecological impact, and the social impact. The economy impact has been related to the savings that have been resulted from the use of the biogas, while the ecological impact has been related to the maintenance of clean and tidy surrounding environment.

Sidoarjo delta fishing becomes one of family destination that has consequences and impact on socio-economics of local tourism area. The purpose of this research is to identify the impacts or effects of fishing activities on the socio-economic life of local communities. This research method uses descriptive research type through qualitative approach. The results showed that the social impact of tourism activities on the local community, among others, the type of community work has more variation, development and improvement in the education level of local communities, as well as increasing the role and awareness of the community in maintaining the fishing tourist area of delta fishing Sidoarjo. Meanwhile, the economic impact of tourism activities include changes in the level of community income is quite significant on job opportunities and entrepreneurial communities.

Abstract : The purpose of this study is to explore the role of social and educational institutions in Bajulmati in the process of community empowerment. This study used a qualitative approach, and was carried out in Bajulmati Hamlet, Gajahrejo Village, Gedangan District, Malang Regency. Informants in this study consisted of government institutions, activists empowering from social and educational institutions, and surrounding communities. Data collection uses interviews, documentation and observations and analyzed by miles and huberman models. The results of the study show the role of social and educational institutions in empowering the Bajulmati community. In the economic field, the community is empowered through the use of natural and human potential. In the social field, it is empowered to always be optimistic and independent. As well as in the field of education, the community is empowered through educational institutions that are built, both schooling and education outside the school system. Schooling education aims to increase competitiveness, education outside the schooling system to maintain the culture and noble values of the Bajulmati community.Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menggali peran lembaga sosial dan pendidikan di Bajulmati dalam proses pemberdayaan masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dan dilaksanakan di Dusun Bajulmati, Desa Gajahrejo, Kecamatan Gedangan, Kabupaten Malang. Informan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari institusi pemerintahan, pegiat pemberdayaan dari lembaga sosial dan pendidikan, serta masyarakat sekitar. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, dokumentasi dan observasi serta dianalisis dengan model miles dan huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peran lembaga sosial dan pendidikan dalam memberdayakan masyarakat Bajulmati. Dalam bidang ekonomi, masyarakat diberdayakan melalui pemanfaatan potensi alam maupun sumber daya manusia. Dalam bidang sosial, diberdayakan untuk selalu bersikap optimis dan mandiri. Serta dalam bidang pendidikan, masyarakat diberdayakan melalui institusi pendidikan yang dibangun, baik pendidikan persekolahan maupun pendidikan di luar sistem persekolahan. Pendidikan persekolahan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan daya saing, pendidikan di luar sistem persekolahan untuk menjaga budaya dan nilai-nilai luhur masyarakat Bajulmati.
