Tourism in Bulgaria is a cross cutting sector of particular importance for unemployment and poverty eradication. As a source of foreign exchange earnings and direct investments it ensures viable medium and long-term economic benefits for both the destination and the local community. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the role of farm-to-table (FTT) activities in agritourism towards sustainable development based on three agritourism farms in Brunei. Design/methodology/approach The study is based on qualitative data using semi-structured interviews with 23 participants involved in the management of the farms. In-depth interviews are considered the most appropriate approach to gain the unexplored perspectives of the agriculture community at the three agritourism farms. Findings The study found that FTT activities imparted in agritourism contribute towards sustainable development economically, socially and environmentally. FTT leads to the establishment of small medium and micro enterprises, which, in turn, creates employment for the local people. It also plays a part in preserving the ethno-culinary heritage of indigenous food, promoting food localism and sustainable agriculture. These findings suggest that FTT activities play an important role in revitalizing the local community. The outcome of this empirical research may enable planners to better formulate regional policy based on a balanced approach taking into account the three dimensions of sustainability towards agritourism development. From a theoretical standpoint, this study adds value to the literature by identifying the contributions of FTT activities towards sustainable development emphasising on the consumption of local ethnic food and food localism. Originality/value The contributions of agritourism for local farms has not been extensively discussed especially in Brunei’s local agriculture industry. This study will provide evidence that FTT activities contribute towards a moderate form of food activism; one that re-forges the disrupted linkages between people, nature and cultural heritage.

Cooperatives are considered an organizational alternative based on principles and values. These organizations seek the fulfillment of social and economic benefits for their members as well as for the community in which they develop. Their nature allows them to solve problems such as social and labor exclusion as well as environmental issues. However, although their benefits to society have been extensively studied, little is known about how these organizations contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim of this study is to analyze the way in which the social benefits generated by cooperatives contribute to the fulfillment of the SDGs in Mexico City. This qualitative study uses interviews and thematic analysis to identify and define the different social benefits generated by 134 cooperatives in Mexico City. These benefits were analyzed to identify whether they contribute to the fulfillment of the SDGs. The results stimulate the theoretical and empirical discussion about the role of cooperatives and their contribution to solving current social problems, as established by the United Nations. The article presented is of scientific interest and it is also relevant for the elaboration of public policies aimed at producing better results for these types of organizations.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the moderating role of positive attitude toward economic benefit of counterfeit products in the relationship between luxury value perception and purchase intention of luxury brands among Iranian consumers. Data were collected using questionnaires, which were completed by 386 customers at various shopping malls. Structural equation modeling was used to test the direct hypotheses in Amos v.18, and moderated regression analysis to test the moderating hypothesis in SPSS v.19. The results indicate that financial and social value are important drivers of luxury value perception in shaping the purchase intention of consumers, while functional value is not involved in this regard. Moreover, attitude toward counterfeits, as a moderator, reduces the positive effect of luxury value perception on purchase intention. This research provides important insights not only with regard to market entry decision-making but also to develop marketing strategies for positioning a luxury brand in an Asian emerging market. The findings could be potentially generalized to other developing countries in the Middle East with analogous socioeconomic and cultural circumstances. While several studies have been conducted regarding counterfeiting and luxury brand consumption, this is an initial investigation on the moderating role of positive attitude toward economic benefits of counterfeits in the relationship between luxury value perception and purchase intention in the context of an emerging market. This research facilitates further investigations in this regard.
