A lightweight data security model is of much importance in view of security and privacy of data in several networks (e.g., fog networks) where available computing units at edge nodes are often constrained with low computing capacity and limited storage/availability of energy. To facilitate lightweight data security at such constrained scenarios, cellular automata (CA)-based lightweight data security model is presented in this chapter to enable low-cost physical implementation. For this reason, a detailed investigation is presented in this chapter to explore the potential capabilities of CA-based scheme towards the design of lightweight data security model. Further, a comparison among several existing lightweight data security models ensure the effectiveness for proposed CA-based lightweight data security model. Thus, application suitability in view of fog networks is explored for the proposed CA-based model which has further potential for easy training of a reservoir of computers towards uses in IoT (internet of things)-based multiple industry applications.

The Internet of things market grew rapidly in recent years. The increased number of connected objects and the diversity of IoT services caused many challenges. The IoT links heterogeneity sensors from different networks in order to address users’ needs. A systematic review study was accomplished to identify and clarify the challenges of the IoT with an initial result set of 811 articles, covering studies published from 2013 to 2019. 50 studies were selected and classified according to the study criteria. The results include highlighting the 10 main challenges with the IoT and introducing data security and privacy as major concerns. The lack of standardization and interoperability is also considered a critical challenge with the IoT. In addition, the descriptive results reported that most of the investigated papers are related either to industrial or technical aspect. A lack of other areas with the IoT, such as educational, social, and cloud, were reported as well.

Key agreement between two constrained Internet of Things (IoT) devices that have not met each other is an essential feature to provide in order to establish trust among its users. Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs) on a device represent a low cost primitive exploiting the unique random patterns in the device and have been already applied in a multitude of applications for secure key generation and key agreement in order to avoid an attacker to take over the identity of a tampered device, whose key material has been extracted. This paper shows that the key agreement scheme of a recently proposed PUF based protocol, presented by Chatterjee et al., for Internet of Things (IoT) is vulnerable for man-in-the-middle, impersonation, and replay attacks in the Yao–Dolev security model. We propose an alternative scheme, which is able to solve these issues and can provide in addition a more efficient key agreement and subsequently a communication phase between two IoT devices connected to the same authentication server. The scheme also offers identity based authentication and repudiation, when only using elliptic curve multiplications and additions, instead of the compute intensive pairing operations.

In our daily life, Internet-of-Things (IoT) is everywhere and used in many more beneficial functionalities. It is used in our homes, hospitals, fire prevention, and reporting and controlling the environmental changes. Data security is the crucial requirement for IoT since the number of recent technologies in different domains is increasing day by day. Various attempts have been made to cater the user’s demands for more security and privacy. However, a huge risk of security and privacy issues can arise among all those benefits. Digital document security and copyright protection are also important issues in IoT because they are distributed, reproduced, and disclosed with extensive use of communication technologies. The content of books, research papers, newspapers, legal documents, and web pages are based on plain text, and the ownership verification and authentication of such documents are essential. In the current domain of the Internet of Things, limited techniques are available for ownership verification and copyright protection. In the said perspective, this study includes the discussion about the approaches of text watermarking, IoT security challenges, IoT device limitations, and future research directions in the area of text watermarking.

The growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), and demand for low-cost, easy-to-deploy devices, has led to the production of swathes of insecure Internet-connected devices. Many can be exploited and leveraged to perform large-scale attacks on the Internet, such as those seen by the Mirai botnet. This paper presents a cross-sectional study of how users value and perceive security and privacy in smart devices found within the IoT. It analyzes user requirements from IoT devices, and the importance placed upon security and privacy. An experimental setup was used to assess user ability to detect threats, in the context of technical knowledge and experience. It clearly demonstrated that without any clear signs when an IoT device was infected, it was very difficult for consumers to detect and be situationally aware of threats exploiting home networks. It also demonstrated that without adequate presentation of data to users, there is no clear correlation between level of technical knowledge and ability to detect infected devices.

Nowadays, for the purpose of investigate in any field; internet of things (IoT) occupies the main themes since datum that IoT has communications between different things, articles and gadgets. In numerous fields, for example, designs, security, protocols, communications and so forth. There have been many improvements and advancements are accomplished by these associations. The primary point of IoT is building a maintained security among objects and furthermore guarantee the talented communications among them by utilizing different sorts of applications. Mixed Network designs play a fundamental job in present day world correspondence that is for all intentions and determinations all interchanges and mystery asset exchanges are broadly relying upon the heterogeneous system engineering. Be that as it may, the current Intrusion location frameworks have various obstructions in framework effectiveness, security, protection, adaptability and versatility. Hence, Block chain innovation has been worried to give the security of information and save the protection of the information by forestalling the unapproved get to. It can bear the charge of high security, without trade of mean worth. The square chain guarantees high protection from assaults. The work proposed is another push to progress the current safety of the diverse design, and it tends to be most valuable in verified IoT.

In order to solve the security problems of the ideological and political teaching system itself, the ideological and political teaching information management technology needs to be further improved. According to actual needs, based on artificial intelligence and data security models, this paper studies and implements a network security information management system based on artificial intelligence and security models. The system can effectively manage the contents of safe work and increase the ability of information sharing and collaborative work. According to the actual needs of most current systems, with data mining, data recognition, and security management as the goals, this paper builds the structure of the functional modules and adopts the function cascade to finally realize the safety information management of this system. In addition, this article designs experiments to verify the performance of the model constructed in this article. The research results show that the model has good performance and meets actual needs.

Weak security of RFID system is concerned by more and more people because of the fast development of internet of things. Some existing RFID authentications protocols begin to be analyzed, such as Mutual three-pass authentication, randomized Hash-Lock, which has some problem of being difficult to resist a variety of network attacks such as forgery tag attacks and a new bidirectional security authentication protocol,A multiple security authentication protocol is proposed to overcome the disadvantage of being vulnerable to cyber attacks. Analysis shows that this approach is of good security and privacy, low cost, and high efficiency.
