Prior research has devoted considerable attention to consumer hedonic experience and customer satisfaction in retailing and e-commerce settings. However, very little effort has been made to investigate the relationship between hedonic experience and customer satisfaction in the context of information system use. To fill this gap, this study investigates the effect of hedonic experience on game player satisfaction using an adapted technology acceptance model. By doing so, this article addresses the core research question: What drives online game player satisfaction? In support of the model and most of the hypotheses, the empirical results not only identify key antecedents of enjoyment and perceived usefulness, but also confirm the significant role of the two constructs in predicting player satisfaction. This study thus helps both information systems and marketing researchers attain a better understanding of customer satisfaction, expand their baseline knowledge of hedonic experience constructs, and conduct more fruitful and illuminating future research on e-commerce service.

PurposeThis paper aims to examine the current technology acceptance model (TAM) in the field of mixed reality and digital twin (MRDT) and identify key factors affecting users' intentions to use MRDT. The factors are used as a set of key metrics for proposing a predictive model for virtual, augmented and mixed reality (MR) acceptance by users. This model is called the extended TAM for MRDT adoption in the architecture, engineering, construction and operations (AECO) industry.Design/methodology/approachAn interpretivist philosophical lens was adopted to conduct an inductive systematic and bibliographical analysis of secondary data contained within published journal articles that focused upon MRDT acceptance modelling. The preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) approach to meta-analysis were adopted to ensure all key investigations were included in the final database set. Quantity indicators such as path coefficients, factor ranking, Cronbach’s alpha (a) and chi-square (b) test, coupled with content analysis, were used for examining the database constructed. The database included journal papers from 2010 to 2020.FindingsThe extant literature revealed that the most commonly used constructs of the MRDT–TAM included: subjective norm; social influence; perceived ease of use (PEOU); perceived security; perceived enjoyment; satisfaction; perceived usefulness (PU); attitude; and behavioural intention (BI). Using these identified constructs, the general extended TAM for MRDT in the AECO industry is developed. Other important factors such as “perceived immersion” could be added to the obtained model.Research limitations/implicationsThe decision to utilise a new technology is difficult and high risk in the construction project context, due to the complexity of MRDT technologies and dynamic construction environment. The outcome of the decision may affect employee performance, project productivity and on-site safety. The extended acceptance model offers a set of factors that assist managers or practitioners in making effective decisions for utilising any type of MRDT technology.Practical implicationsSeveral constraints are apparent due to the limited investigation of MRDT evaluation matrices and empirical studies. For example, the research only covers technologies which have been reported in the literature, relating to virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), MR, DT and sensors, so newer technologies may not be included. Moreover, the review process could span a longer time period and thus embrace a fuller spectrum of technology development in these different areas.Originality/valueThe research provides a theoretical model for measuring and evaluating MRDT acceptance at the individual level in the AECO context and signposts future research related to MRDT adoption in the AECO industry, as well as providing managerial guidance for progressive AECO professionals who seek to expand their use of MRDT in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). A set of key factors affecting MRDT acceptance is identified which will help innovators to improve their technology to achieve a wider acceptance.

Social commerce is the latest development in e-commerce to combine the power of online social networking with shopping. While the adoption of information technology is well studied, new theoretical development is needed to account for the specific characteristics of social commerce applications and their interactions with the user. This study examines factors that are associated with user acceptance of social shopping websites, which are sites designed specifically to support social interactions while users shop. This paper augments the Technology Acceptance Model with constructs that enhance the specificity of the model to the social shopping application of social commerce, including social comparison, social engagement, enjoyment as well as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The model was empirically tested, and the results provided strong support. Implications and directions for future research are also discussed.

<p><em>Nowadays, the Internet is a powerful mean to complement the traditional marketing channels used by banks. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model, this paper explores the importance of two external latent variables—‘Price’ and ‘Convenience’ —as antecedents of ‘Perceived Usefulness’ and consumer acceptance of on-line banking in a Canadian and Spanish environment; the results highlight the predictive power and accuracy of the model cross-nationally. In fact, the findings were quite similar in the Canadian and Spanish samples, and stress that ‘Perceived Usefulness’ and ‘Attitude’ are the key drivers of the consumers’ on-line banking acceptance. Conclusions and recommendations for future research are also provided.</em></p>

The purpose of this study is to assess and test the factors that influence user adoption of e-Government services: the Electronic Approval System (EAS). This study uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the extended TAM (TAM2), the Diffusion of Innovation (DOI), and trust to build a parsimonious yet comprehensive model of factors that influence user acceptance of the EAS. We collected data from a total of 112 public officers in 12 ministries in Cambodia. We assessed the model with regression analyses. The findings in this article show that the determinants of the model (perceived usefulness, relative advantage, and trust) explain 30.5% of the variance in user acceptance of the EAS. At the same time, image, output quality, and perceived ease of use explain 38.4% of the variance in user perception of the usefulness of the EAS. In this article, we discuss our findings, implications, and suggestions for future research.

Location-based services (LBSs) are technology related services that can provide individual users with the capability of being constantly reachable and accessing network services while on the move. The growing influence of LBS has attracted significant attention in developing countries like Bangladesh, where LBS is a new tool for the marketers. However, it is yet to become popular among the mass people. It is therefore important to understand the users' intention to adopt and use LBS extensively in their daily life. In this regard, original technology acceptance model (TAM) has been used along with several other factors to develop a conceptual model for this study. Results claim that constructs like self-efficacy, perceived social value, perceived convenience value, personalization, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use plays vital role in the adoption of LBS in Bangladesh. Accordingly, implications for practice and research, limitations and future research directions of this study are discussed.

YouTube is reshaping teaching and learning across the world and is becoming a preferred platform for students' procedural learning to acquire relevant skills and knowledge in implementing any tasks. The aims of this research are to assess factors influencing student intention to use YouTube for procedural learning. In addition, the technology acceptance model (TAM) was applied as the underpinning theory. Data was analyzed to examine the hypothesized relationships. Results revealed that content richness, task-technology fit, YouTube self-efficacy, and vividness significantly affect students' behavioral intention to use YouTube for procedural learning. Results infer that YouTube enlarges its function as a mass-oriented means for procedural learning as students develop positive perceived usefulness of YouTube to influence their behavioral intention to use YouTube. This study integrated TAM and assessed factors influencing student intention to use YouTube for procedural learning. Future research directions are also put forward.

The main results from the study confirm the influence of the variables from Technology Acceptance Model –perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness– and of perceived compatibility on the adoption of this service. Although self-expressiveness was also found to be an antecedent of perceived usefulness, all other variables –personal innovativeness, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, perceived cost, and perceived quality of service– were found to have no influence on the adoption of mobile video-calls. Other important findings are the critical role played by perceived usefulness, the existing gap between attitudes, intentions and actual use, and the role of perceived cost in the adoption of mobile video-call. Other findings and recommendations for future research are also discussed.

Purpose The study proposes an extended model of the technology acceptance model (TAM) by including Sharia compliance (SC), knowledge of SC and confidence in SC, in addition to perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU). This research aims to investigate its impact on satisfaction, applied in e-banking of Indonesian Islamic banking. Also, the authors study the role of SC, knowledge of SC and confidence in all relationships in TAM in explaining customer satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach Data collecting in this research is a self-administered survey by sending questionnaires to respondents online via e-mail or WhatsApp. The number of collected data are 300 completed questionnaires. Hypothesis testing and analyses in this research use the multiple linear regression model. Findings This study finds that SC, knowledge about SC and belief in SC have a significant impact on customer satisfaction of Islamic banks using e-banking. The most important finding in this study is that SC, knowledge about SC and belief in SC significantly moderate the relationship between PU and PEOU with customer satisfaction. Originality/value The originality of this research is exploring the role of SC, knowledge of SC and confidence in SC in all relationships, and it is expressed in the original TAM to explain customer satisfaction. This study has never been applied in previous studies, particularly studies of Islamic bank e-banking in Indonesia. This study highlights the importance of SC in the extended TAM, as a distinguishing factor between e-banking provided by Islamic banks and conventional banks, as well as the role of knowledge and confidence in SC. The authors propose policies that will be useful for the improvement of the market share of Islamic banking in Indonesia.

The purpose of this article is to explore the mediating role of perceived usefulness, trust and attitude on a user’s intention towards use of mobile wallets in India. While mediation has been studied by earlier researchers in the context of online commerce, mobile banking, short message service (SMS) banking, mobile money, etc., not many studies exist in the context of mobile wallets. Considering the potential of mobile wallets in India, previous relationships from the theories of technology adoption like technology acceptance model (TAM) and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) were adapted to investigate the determinants of user attitude and intention towards mobile wallet adoption. Based on data from 744 respondents collected through a survey, partial least squares (PLS) structural equation modelling was used to test the research model. Convenience sampling was used to select the respondents. The results revealed that out of the nine paths wherein mediation was examined, in two paths full mediation was found while it was partial in the remaining cases. This study extends research in explaining attitude and intention through multiple mediating relationships. The implications for research and practice and future research directions are discussed.

This study sought to explore factors that determine the public&rsquo;s acceptance of and adoption behavior toward e-government health applications launched in Saudi Arabia (SA) by the Ministry of Health (MOH) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research relied on several theories: the technology acceptance model (TAM), information system success model (ISSM), mobile services acceptance model (MSAM), and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The constructs of perceived ease of use (PEOU), perceived usefulness (PU), attitude (ATT), trust (TR), information quality (IQ), facilitating condition (FC), and social influence (SI) were utilized to investigate the user&rsquo;s intention toward using e-government health applications. The proposed model and its seven hypotheses were tested by conducting a survey across social media among citizens and residents in SA. A total of 785 valid responses were analyzed by SmartPLS and a structural equation modeling technique. After analysis, the results showed that PEOU, PU, ATT, TR, IQ, FC, and SI have positive effects on behavioral intentions. As for contributions, this paper is the first research paper to investigate the adoption of e-government health applications launched by MOH in SA during the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide a theoretical framework for pursuing future research work in a similar scope.
