This paper aims to expand the acceptance of the AI Virtual Assistant model from the perspective of user’s cognition. Based on the 240 samples, we used multi-layer regression analysis to investigate the influencing factors and differential effects of users' acceptance of AI Virtual Assistant. The results show that functional cognition and emotional cognition of users are important influencing factors for an artificial intelligence virtual assistant. This provides a new perspective for user acceptance processes of the AI Virtual Assistant. We also examined the moderating effect of social norms between user cognition and AI Virtual Assistant. At last, a new AI acceptance model of AI Virtual Assistant was established.

AbstractIntelligent agents (IAs) are permeating both business and society. However, interacting with IAs poses challenges moving beyond technological limitations towards the human-computer interface. Thus, the knowledgebase related to interaction with IAs has grown exponentially but remains segregated and impedes the advancement of the field. Therefore, we conduct a systematic literature review to integrate empirical knowledge on user interaction with IAs. This is the first paper to examine 107 Information Systems and Human-Computer Interaction papers and identified 389 relationships between design elements and user acceptance of IAs. Along the independent and dependent variables of these relationships, we span a research space model encompassing empirical research on designing for IA user acceptance. Further we contribute to theory, by presenting a research agenda along the dimensions of the research space, which shall be useful to both researchers and practitioners. This complements the past and present knowledge on designing for IA user acceptance with potential pathways into the future of IAs.

Tracing infectious individuals and clusters is a major tactic for mitigating the pandemic. This paper explores the factors impacting the intentions and actual use of COVID-19 contact tracing apps based on a technology acceptance model. A partial least squares structural equation model has been applied to understand determinants for the usage of tracing apps based on a large sample (N = 2,398) from more than 30 countries (mainly from Germany and USA). Further, the paper presents a classification of COVID-19 apps and users. Through that, the study provides insights for technologists and designers of tracing apps as well as policy makers and practitioners to work toward enhancing user acceptance. Moreover, the results are abstracted to general social participation with apps in order to manage future strategies. The theoretical contribution of this work includes the results of our acceptance model and a classification of COVID-19 tracing and tracking apps.

This study is to reveal the challenges of millennials' preferences and criteria in booking a venue via an online platform. The main target users for this study are the millennials ranging in age from 18 – 40. The dependent variable for this study is user acceptance testing on Booktia. The independent variables for this study are content, navigation, multimedia, and usefulness. The result is very interesting. The finding concluded that user acceptance testing shows a positive relation towards the four independent variables with coefficient value for multimedia of 0.066, content of 0.055, navigation of 0.055, and usefulness of 0.060. All independent variables show a significant result between 0.000 to 0.005. Thus, the result shows the millennials are accepting features and usage of Booktia upon testing it. Implications were drawn in the study, such as the benefits this study will bring to the Booktia platform.

The adoption of a personal health record (PHR) is a crucial element in quality healthcare, allowing patients to permit the storage of their health information to create a more inclusive, reliable health record. However, the embracing of PHRs has been slow compared to other healthcare-related systems due to the poor design and behavioral aspects. The objective of this research is to study user acceptance factors to identify a better design for PHR systems and to promote healthy behaviors that support individuals' performance. The study proposes an integrative adoption model for PHRs that integrates theoretical factors from the health belief model with the user acceptance determinants from the technology acceptance model and innovation diffusion theory. Using structural equation modeling with the R “Lavaan” package, the study tested the hypothesis relationships of the constructs. The data were captured from individuals through Amazon’s MTurk. Among the nine relationships studied, the research revealed six significant relationships that inform the final PHR integrative adoption model. The research provides great insights into the factors that influence individuals’ PHR adoption. The results introduce a novel integration model to the current body of knowledge. This model will contribute to a better theoretical understanding of the actual use of healthcare-related technologies and bring greater estimates of patient engagement in healthy activities.
