Anomalistic architecture especially overhanging structure has become a trend of architectural development, Based on the characteristics of a large vertical eccentric, more prominent facade and strong reverse effect,overhanging structure is often serious super-norm and extremely detrimental to the seismic design[1], Now it has become an important part of seismic review. By the analysis and comparison on the coupling of the translational and torsional seismic response from ANSYS program[2]. The behavior of seismic catastrophe of cantilever building structure is studied under bi-directional earthquake action and the change law of cantilever member with the length is obtained, the suggestions on engineering design are put forward for future seismic design of such structures.

<p>The heavy casualties and property losses caused by the earthquake this huge disaster, making high-rise building seismic become the focus of attention. Our new building seismic design code (GB50011-2001) (hereinafter referred to as "Seismic Design Code”) continue to be used (GBJ-89) specification to determine the "three earthquake performance objectives, two-stage design step" seismic design, and made many important supplement and perfect. The new seismic design of buildings in terms of requirements for introducing means as constraints optimization design, optimization design closer to engineering practice.</p>

The framed shear wall structure is a high-rise building structure with a transfer story, which has the poor seismic performance (upper rigid and lower flexible). The frame layer in the earthquake is prone to fail, which may even cause the collapse of building. In this paper, it uses the finite element software SATWE to explore the seismic performance of framed shear wall structure. Then we can draw the following conclusions: When the transfer story is set from the third layer to the ninth layer, the earthquake action of transfer story varies from 437.2kN into 564.9kN and is significantly higher than that of upper and lower layers; All the period of free vibration, angles of drift, bottom shear force, overturning moment of the structure have adverse effects on the structure, which are also detrimental to the structural seismic.

This paper gives a design principle based on behavior, it in the engineering design and more attention. Method based on behavior on the properties of reaction structures under earthquake is evaluated. High-rise buildings must be based on the method of state to confirm that the building to meet seismic performance.

This paper makes a theoretical analysis of necessity for building seismic design concept, in order to explore the method of high-rise building to take the necessary anti-seismic measures.</p>

The complex tower structure appears as modeling of palms together, which is designed as steel frame-core tube structure. This paper uses SAP2000 to analysis seismic response respectively on the linear and elastic-plastic stage, and puts forward some specific suggestions for seismic design according to the analysis and calculation.

High rise structures with strengthened stories are widely used nowadays. A rational seismic design procedure for this kind of structure is thus necessary. Based on mode theory and direct displacement based seismic design of multi-story buildings, this paper proposed a new direct displacement based seismic design procedure. In the proposed method, each mode of the high rise structure is equivalent to a single degree of freedom (SDOF) system. Seismic response of each mode is calculated and adds up to consider the contributions of higher modes. Considering the characteristic of strengthened stories, two stories above the strengthened stories are taken as the “key stories”, whose performance indicates the performance of the building. The proposed procedure is logical, simple and can serve for reference of actual design.

Based on mechanical characteristics of high rise structures with strengthened stories, the author performed direct displacement based seismic design on a high rise structure with 2 strengthened stories according to the direct displacement based seismic design principle. The performance levels are set to be “serviceability” under medium earthquake and “life safety” under major earthquake, respectively. The design procedures are with the following features: (1) Definition and selection of “key” stories are based on mechanical characteristics of high rise structures with strengthened stories; (2) Determination of mode number and calculation of horizontal earthquake action verified the availability of the design procedure; (3) some new ideas are proposed to improve the earthquake action calculation and structural performance control. The design procedure verified the effectiveness, feasibility and availability of the proposed direct displacement based seismic design method.
