The stability and deformation characteristics of the pile foundation in the Karst region of the super big railway bridge Chaogou under different loading levels are analyzed using the FDM-software, FLAC3D. In the analyses the socketed depth of piles, the properties of soil and rock mass, the scale, space position and filling situation of the Karst caves and the features of the contact interfaces between piles and soil and rock mass were taken into account. The research results show that the original design of the pile foundation is safe and the safety coefficient is greater than 2. The bond strength of the contact surface between pile and soil and rock is a controlling factor for the stability of pile foundation. Therefore, injection after construction is suggested to be used when needed, in order to increase the bond strength of the contact surface. The research leads to a conclusion that the mechanisms and the characteristics of the rock socketed piles can be more clearly interpreted in numerical analyses by referring the principle of the interaction between piles and rock, pile foundation and Karst, resistance of both pile ends and sides.

Stability of dam foundation with Karst caves is analyzed in the presented work.Conceptual model is established according to load analysis such as dam gravity and water press. The curve of point safety coefficient on the structure plane is draw out by using stress checking method. With the comparison of curves under different work conditions, it shows that the most dangerous position of Karst cave is at the dam toe area, with the increasing of dip angle of the structure plane, the safety coefficient declines. Then the possible damage zones, mechanism and failure mode of the dam foundation with Karst caves are analyzed. The result can be used in evaluating the stability of dam foundation with Karst cave.

In order to study the deformation mechanism of soft rock roadway in underground mines, it is necessary not only to study the influence of the dynamic disturbance caused by the cyclic mining blasting vibration on the stability of the soft rock roadway but also to study the degradation of the roadway surrounding rock itself and other factors. The paper presented a synthetic research system to investigate the factors that influence roadway rock structure deterioration in Baoguo Iron Mine. Firstly, the stability of rock mass was analyzed from the perspective of the physical and structural characteristics of the rock mass. Afterwards, according to monitoring data of mining blasting vibration, a suitable safety blasting prediction model for Baoguo Iron Mine was determined. And then, combining the results of mining blasting vibration monitoring and deformation monitoring, the effect of cyclic mining blasting on the stability of the soft rock roadway was obtained. By systematically studying the intrinsic factors of rock quality degradation and external environmental disturbances and their interactions, this paper comprehensively explores the deformation mechanism of soft rock roadway and provides the support for fundamentally solving the large deformation problems of soft rock roadway in underground mines.

Based on the fluid-solid coupling theory, we study the stability of surrounding rock mass around underground oil storage in Huangdao, Shandong province, analyze the stress of the surrounding rock mass around three chambers and the displacement change of several key monitoring points after excavation and evaluate the stability of surrounding rock mass using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Research results show that the stress at both sides of the straight wall of cavern increases, especially obvious stress concentration forms at the corners of the cavern, and the surrounding rock mass moves towards the cavern after excavation. The stress and displacement of the surrounding rock mass will increase accordingly after setting the water curtains, but the change does not have a substantive impact on the stability of surrounding rock mass.

There exist the problems such as low bond strength and bad durability in the ordinary grouting slurry of the ground anchor system at present. The high-performance grouting mediums RPC (Reactive Powder Concrete) and DSP (Densified Systems containing homogeneously arranged ultrafine Particles) would become the potential replacement of grouting medium in ground anchor resulting from their high compressive strength, durability and toughness. Based on a series of pull-out tests on ground anchors with different high-performance grouting medium of RPC and DSP , different bond length in the construction field, the bond performance on the interfaces between anchor bolt (deformed steel bar) and grouted medium as well as between grouted medium and rock mass was studied. The results indicate that the interfacial bond strength between RPC or DSP and deformed steel bolt ranges within 23-31Mpa, far greater than that (about 2-3MPa) between the ordinary cementitious grout and deformed steel bar. Even though the interfacial bond strength between the grouted medium and rock mass of limestone was not obtained in the test since the failure mode was pull-out of those steel bar rather than the interface shear failure between grouted medium and rock mass, the bond stress on the interface reached 6.2-8.38 MPa, also far greater than the bond strength (about 0.1-3MPa) between the ordinary cementitious slurry and rocks.

HuJiaDi tunnel construction of Dai Gong highway is troublesome, the surrounding-rock mass give priority to full to strong weathering basalt, surrounding rock integrity is poor, weak self-stability of surrounding rock, and tunnel is prone to collapse. In order to reduce disturbance, taking advantage of the ability of rock mass, excavation adopt the method of "more steps, short footage and strong support". The excavation method using three steps excavation, The excavation footage is about 1.2 ~ 1.5 m; The surrounding rock bolting system still produce a large deformation after completion of the first support construction, it shows that the adopted support intensity cannot guarantee the stability of the tunnel engineering. Using ABAQUS to simulate tunnel excavation support, optimizing the support parameters of the tunnel, conducting comparative analysis with Monitoring and Measuring and numerical simulation results, it shows that the displacement - time curves have a certain consistency in numerical simulation of ABAQUS and Monitoring and Measuring.

As an important field in traffic control science, the research in design of toll plazas has increasingly attracted attention of scholars and society. A good design of toll plaza needs to meet a lot of conditions, such as high safety coefficient, high throughput and low cost level. In this study, we established an evaluation model of toll plaza based on cellular automata and M/M/C queuing theory applying to three aspects: safety coefficient, throughput and cost. Then, we took the Asbury Park Toll Plaza in New Jersey as an example to analyze its performance and further optimized the design of the toll plaza. Compared with the original design, the optimized toll plaza we designed is proved to be safer and preferable. Last but not least, we further analyzed the robustness of the designed toll plaza, proving that the designed toll plaza had a preferable performance in reality.

For the loess cave characteristics, such as the thin coverage soil layer at the hole top, the poor self-stabilizing capacity, the large disturbance deformation after excavation and the easy collapse, thus in this paper, the loess cave safety factor is obtained by the method of strength reduction. And the stability calculation analysis is much more perfect. The Northwest Area Lishi loess cave is used in this paper, and the idea of strength reduction finite element method is applied, based on the Drucker-Prager yield criterion, the loess cave static stability analysis is made by the software of ANSYS.The results show that the actual situation can be reflected by the method of finite element strength subtraction. And the obtained loess cave stability coefficient is much closer to the actual steady state, thus showing the certain advantages of stability analysis. The method is also adopted in this paper. And its feasibility can be applied to the engineering practice, also a theoretical basis of reference is provided for engineering application.
