The experimental investigation on the effects of granular fill and geogrid reinforced granular fill on the behaviour of the static liquefaction potential of the subsoil is reported in this study. A series of plate load test were carried out with different thickness of the granular fill, number of geogrid layers, and size/dimension of the footing. The test results were presented in terms of bearing capacity and subgrade modulus for the settlement ofδ10,δ15, andδ20. The experimental results revealed that the introduction of granular fill significantly increases the bearing capacity and effectively control the settlement behaviour of the footing. The introduction of geogrid in granular fill enhanced the Percentage of Control in Settlement and Bearing Capacity Ratio by a maximum of 328.54% and 203.41%, respectively. The introduction of geogrid in granular fill interrupts the failure zone of the granular fill and enhances the subgrade modulus of the footing by a maximum of 255.55%; in addition subgrade modulus of the footing was increased with an increase in the number of geogrid layers. Based on the test results it is suggested that the footing with large size has beneficial improvement on the reinforced granular fill.

To investigate the accuracy of modeling DC motor, the platform for measurement and calculation dynamic parameters is built by the Hardware-In-the-Loop(HIL) method based on dSPACE system. The running state of DC motor has to be changed with adjustment of PWM duty-cycle using ControlDesk software. Having got measurement and calculation parameters value of DC motor, we compare the test results with simulation value using the model of DC motor with cascade control in Matlab/Simulink software according to the classical mathematical model. It confirms the established model of DC motor accurately and reliability using new parameters, which provides the basis of more complex control algorithms and also indicates that the feasibility and generalization application value of measurement and calculation method for DC motor.

Abstract The ambient vibration test results conducted on the Imperial County Services Building prior to the 15 October 1979 Imperial Valley earthquake are summarized. These results are of significant interest because the Imperial County Services Building has been the source of many postearthquake investigations due to the fact that the 1979 earthquake represented the first time a building instrumented with strong motion recorders suffered and recorded the major structural failure.

Abstract In this paper, the vibration characteristics of laminated composite cantilever beam is taken as the research object. Firstly, a vibration formula specific for laminated composite cantilever beam is derived, from which the low order natural frequency of laminated composite cantilever beam is calculated; Secondly, two experimental methods, electrical and optical measurement, are used to study the vibration characteristics of laminated composite cantilever beam, and the influence of different test methods, sensor types, number of measuring points and excitation methods on the test results are analyzed. Through the combination of theory and experiment, a test method that can be applied to the vibration test of composite material laminated structure cantilever beam is obtained. Based on the laser vibration measurement method in the optical method, the results show that the deviation between the experimental data and the theoretical solution is the smallest when the distance between the probe and the specimen is 0.5m and the sampling time is 5s by using the optical fiber vibrometer. The research content of this article can provide a reasonable reference for related vibration test research.

A field vibration test was conducted on the coal crusher chamber of a thermal power plant to evaluate its vibration performance. The vibration displacements and velocities of the structure, coal crusher body, and vibration-isolation platform were tested. The vibration safety of the coal crusher chamber and the vibration-isolation efficiency of the spring vibration-isolation system were evaluated based on the test results, and the reason the vibration exceeded the limit was analyzed. This study showed that the vibration displacement of a coal crusher with a spring vibration-isolation system met the code requirements, but the equipment had greater vibration displacements, which were related to the connection between the equipment and the platform. Compared to a steel platform, the vibration displacement of a concrete platform was smaller, and the vibration-isolation efficiency was greater. The vibration displacements of the coal crusher body could be reduced by controlling the vibration displacements of the platform.

Compared to the traditional testing technology, the fiber bragg grating(FBG) test technology has many unique advantages and is suitable for the long-term structure health monitoring. By testing the stress and strain conditions of the corrugated steel pipe culverts under different fill heights with FBG sensors set in the inner and outer of the culverts, the mechanical properties of the steel pipe culverts could be obtained. The field fiber optic test results show that the FBG sensors can be used in the structures under complex engineering conditions. When the fill height is added, the FBG test results will change significantly in real-time, and the strain values of all test points on the culvert will change with the increase of the fill height, particularly in the top and bottom test points of the culvert. So the Fiber optic test technology can adapt to the testing requirements of the corrugated steel structure, and can provide a basis for the design of the corrugated steel pipe.
