Camera calibration establishes the relationship between 2D coordinates in the image and 3D coordinates in the 3D world. BP neural network can model non-linear relationship, and therefore was used for calibrating camera by avoiding the non-linear factors of the camera in this paper. The calibration results are compared with the results of Tsai’s two stage method. The comparison show that calibration method based BP neural network improved the calibration accuracy.

Ore blending is an essential part of daily work in the concentrator. Qualified ore dressing products can make the ore dressing more smoothly. The existing ore blending modeling usually only considers the quality of ore blending products and ignores the effect of ore blending on ore dressing. This research proposes an ore blending modeling method based on the quality of the beneficiation concentrate. The relationship between the properties of ore blending products and the total concentrate recovery is fitted by the ABC-BP neural network algorithm, taken as the optimization goal to guarantee the quality of ore dressing products at the source. The ore blending system was developed and operated stably on the production site. The industrial test and actual production results have proved the effectiveness and reliability of this method.

Abstract Due to the vast ocean area and limited human and material resources, hydrographic survey must be carried out in a selective and well-planned way. Therefore, scientific planning of hydrographic surveys to ensure the effectiveness of navigational charts has become an urgent issue to be addressed by the hydrographic office of each coastal state. In this study, a reasonable calculation model of hydrographic survey cycle is established, which can be used to make the plan of navigational chart updating. The paper takes 493 navigational charts of Chinese coastal ports and fairways as the research object, analyses the fundamental factors affecting the hydrographic survey cycle and gives them weights, proposes to use the BP neural network to construct the relationship between the cycle and the impact factors, and finally establishes a calculation model of the hydrographic survey cycle. It has been verified that the calculation cycle of the model is effective, and it can provide reference for hydrographic survey planning and chart updating, as well as suggestions for navigation safety.

With the wind farm data from the southeast coast this paper builds a two-stage combination forecasting model of output power based on data preprocessing which include filling up missing data and pre-decomposition. The first stage is a composite prediction of decomposed power sequence in which a time series and optimized BP neural network predict the general trend and the correlation of various factors respectively. The second stage is BP neural network with its input is the results of first stage. The effectiveness and accuracy of the two-stage combination model are verified by comparing the mean square error of the combination model and other models.

Abstract Prediction of weather condition is important to take efficient decisions. In general, the relationship between the input weather parameters and the output weather condition is non linear and predicting the weather conditions in non linear relationship posses challenging task. The traditional methods of weather prediction sometimes deviate in predicting the weather conditions due to non linear relationship between the input features and output condition. Motivated with this factor, we propose a neural networks based model for weather prediction. The superiority of the proposed model is tested with the weather data collected from Indian metrological Department (IMD). The performance of model is tested with various metrics..

This article analyzes the relationship between Government size and corruption. Unlike the works in the way which suppose a linear relationship between the two variables, we estimate a panel with change of the modes to characterize the impact of the size of the Central Government on corruption, in the countries of the economic community and monetary of Central Africa (EMCCA). The results show that there is a non-linear relationship between these two variables. Indeed, a strong involvement of the Government in economic activity results in a significant increase in corruption when the Government exceeds a size of 13.5508% of the GDP.

For the variable speed estimation of wheel-bearings in strong background noise, a novel method with the short-time Fourier transform and BP neural network (STFT-BPNN) is proposed. In the method, it calculates the time-frequency spectrum with STFT technique. Then the instantaneous frequency is estimated by peak detection. Taking the instantaneous frequencies as the input vectors, the BP neural network is trained to fit the discrete instantaneous frequencies. The effectiveness of proposed method is demonstrated by simulation. Experimental results show that proposed method provides better performance on variable speed estimation for wheel-bearings.
