High temperature stability of asphalt mixture is one of asphalt pavement major performance which concerns the permanent deformation of the pavement. Four different gradations were used to detect the mixture high temperature stability, dynamic stability or short for rut distortion for regress time was obtained from regression for the data of rutting test, and the test indicates that either of these two indexes can better characterize high temperature stability of asphalt mixture.

The dynamic stability of a rutting test does not optimally reflect the high-temperature stability of asphalt mixtures. In this study, a rutting test was performed over a long duration (4 h) at different temperatures (40, 50, 60, 70 °C) for three asphalt mixtures, namely, matrix AC-16, SMA-16, and modified AC-16 asphalt mixtures. Subsequently, the temperature rutting rate was obtained after considering the annual temperature conditions of Guangdong and Beijing in China. Because the conditions of the rutting test were different from that of the actual pavement, the rut depth was calculated using a modified temperature rutting rate. This modification considered four factors: wheel trace distribution, temperature, pavement thickness, and loading rate. The calculation of the temperature rutting rate considered the climatic conditions and utilized the rutting deformation data from hour 1–4 of the rutting tests, during which the asphalt mixture was in a stable creep period. Thus, the high-temperature stability of the asphalt mixture was reflected more scientifically by the temperature rutting rate than the dynamic stability. The high-temperature rut-resistance of the asphalt mixture was found to improve significantly after the introduction of two additives (anti-rutting agent and lignin fiber). The modified formula for rut depth can realistically predict the annual rutting depth for three asphalt mixtures in a one-way driving pavement.

This paper used the method of spread the broken glass and light-colored stone into the asphalt mixture, then rolling to compact, to increase the brightness of the asphalt pavement in highway tunnel. Through a series of tests, we have studied the performance of the light-colored asphalt pavement, including high temperature stability, anti-sliding performance, impermeability, bond performance and the light-colored performance. Experimental studies have shown that the anti-sliding performance, high temperature stability will be lower slightly compared to ordinary asphalt concrete. Its impermeability has increased. The light-colored performance is better. At the same time, after the analysis of the experimental results we know that the improvement of light-colored performance is not only effected by the dosage of the materials, but also has a great relationship with the particle size. In general, the smaller the particle size of the materials joined, the more apparent the light-colored performance improved.

According to high temperature weak stability of common asphalt mixture, rutting tests of diatomite modified asphalt mixture, modified lake asphalt mixture, modified rock asphalt mixture and common asphalt mixture are carried out. Changes of dynamic stability for common asphalt mixture compared with modified asphalt mixtures are comparatively analysed. The results show that compared with common asphalt mixture, rutting resistances of diatomite modified asphalt mixture, modified lake asphalt mixture and modified rock asphalt mixture are greatly improved. It is proposed that those kinds of modified asphalt mixture are adopted in asphalt pavement of large longitudinal slope section.

The high temperature stability of AC-16, AC-13, AC-20 under specimen thickness of 5cm and 6cm is studied through indoor asphalt mixture high rutting test, Through comparison and analysis about experimental data, it is found that the stability of AC-16, AC-13, AC-20 asphalt mixture at high- temperature decreases in turn. It is shown that thickness changes did not affect the change trend of the high temperature stability under gradation change, and the stability of AC-16 at high-temperature is the best, the AC-13 is second and the AC-20 is less.

Fiber asphalt concrete has been more and more widely used in highway construction. For analyzing high and low temperature performance of fiber asphalt mixture, rheological properties of fiber asphalt mortar were studied through indoor test. Impact of Rheological properties of the fiber asphalt mortar on high temperature and low temperature properties of asphalt mixture was analyzed. Results showed that the larger fiber content was, the better performance of asphalt mixture's high temperature stability, fiber asphalt mortar rut factor and rutting tests results of asphalt mixture were linear correlation, reflecting the high temperature performance of asphalt mixture; With the increase of fiber content, variation of stiffness modulus, creep rate indicators and mixture low temperature performance was consistent, and rheological properties of fiber asphalt mortar could characterize low temperature performance of asphalt mixture.

Adding sulphur dilution asphalt modifier SEAM to asphalt mixture is not only a modifier of asphalt mixture, but also an additive of asphalt mixture. When the modifier is added into the asphalt mixture, the road performance of the asphalt mixture can be improved. This paper studies SEAM modified asphalt mixture the Marshall property index, temperature stability, Water stability and fatigue feature in the Laboratory. On the based of the result of the experiment and analysis, SEAM can improve the high temperature stability, Water stability and fatigue feature. But the low temperature stability can’t improve.
