The emerging concept of university social responsibility (USR) consists in the fulfillment of the mission of the university in terms of ethical standards, community support, respect for human beings, and respect for the environment. Thus, universities must not only provide professional training but also instill ethical principles in students to allow them to behave as good citizens and help solve community problems. On the other hand, competition for students requires efficient management of university reputation and communication with their stakeholders, to demonstrate the accomplishment of the university’s mission and attract potential students. The objective of this paper is thus to explain the causal relationship between communication about university social responsibility (USR) activities through institutional websites and university selection, as well as the role of reputation. Research work was carried out based on an explanatory cross-sectional design, with a sample of 356 subjects from a population of 11th-grade students from public and private schools in the City of Barranquilla (Colombia). The results revealed that USR communication through institutional websites has a significant influence on university selection, not only directly but also indirectly, through reputation as a mediating variable. These findings contribute at a theoretical level by providing empirical evidence to understand and explain the analyzed topic. Furthermore, the results provide useful information to evaluate USR disclosure and implement strategies to make progress on USR issues.

This study intends to identify the current employment status of educated Dalit youths and the employment perception of employed Dalit youths in Nepal. A descriptive and exploratory design, with both qualitative as well as quantitative approach, was framed for the study. A random sample of 400 educated Dalit youths was taken for a quantitative study from Dalit Employability Enhancement Database (DEED) project of the NGO named Professional Research and Development Centre in Kathmandu. In addition, focus group discussion (FGD) was conducted with 50 educated Dalit youths. The employment scenario of the Dalit youths is not too encouraging. Female Dalits stay more unemployed in comparison to males, despite having similar educational qualifications and competencies. It may be indicative of non-engagement or empowerment of Dalit women towards employment in the country. Majority of the Dalit youths were found to be satisfied with their current jobs. Those who were dissatisfied with their jobs were so mainly due to their salaries, lack of job security, lack of opportunities to career progression and mismatching in working areas.

The growing number of freelance marketplaces allows students to earn extra money as tutors. The hyper-competitive nature in the marketplaces forces students to compete with non-student tutors in order to get clients (Popiel, 2017). Non-student tutors may be better equipped with a lot of experiences. However, all freelance tutors need to post impressive ads to get their clients, particularly in a niche subject such as Japanese language. The present study explores the differences of information put in ads between student tutors and non-student tutors on a tutor marketplace, Superprof. Content analysis (Cohen et al, 2011) was used to identify categories of information in the ads. The results show that there were 11 categories of information including tutors’ name, origin, current employment status, education background, language proficiency certificate, course level, course type, rhetoric, experience in Japan, coverage area, and availability. The data were then analyzed statistically to find the categories of information with a significant difference. It shows that both groups have difference in putting information related to their current employment status (t = 3.88, p < 0.001, d = 1.05) and their education background (t = 2.78, p < 0.005, d = 0.75). The implication of the study is that student tutors tend to value their relationship with academic institutions and make it as a bargaining power to market their skills in the marketplace.

The application of BIM Technology in civil engineering construction is one of the important trends of the innovation and development of the current construction market and the realization of efficient construction. Through the application of BIM Technology in civil engineering, the whole process of engineering construction can be monitored and managed, the whole civil engineering construction level can be improved, and the quality of engineering construction can be met. In this paper, through the application of BIM Technology in the construction management of construction engineering, the information technology means, visual characteristics and dynamic mode strengthening project management model based on itself are studied. In this paper, through the three-dimensional technical means to build the model, strengthen the systematic supervision of the construction project. The experimental results show that the model can better guarantee the construction completion on schedule, improve the construction quality and reduce the construction cost.

The article highlights the theoretical bases for professional training of future education managers to effectively implement the strategy of corporate social responsibility in educational institutions. There outlined prospects for introducing a cluster of elective courses for masters at faculties of education oriented towards acquiring knowledge on design tools and successfully applying strategies of corporate social responsibility in institutions of pre-school, primary, out-of-school, and alternative education. The authors propose an algorithm for a phased construction of a practice-oriented process of training education masters, which is developed based on their previous theoretical works. Its structure includes a set of individual research tasks aimed to create promising corporate social responsibility projects in institutions of pre-school, primary, special, out-of-school, and alternative education of various forms of ownership

Abstract BackgroundThis study describes post-treatment work patterns in lymphoma survivors treated with high-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem-cell transplantation (HDT-ASCT). It aims to identify determinants for labour force participation and exclusion after HDT-ASCT.MethodsEligible patients were survivors of HDT-ASCT for lymphoma in Norway between 1995 and 2008, aged >= 18 years at HDT-ASCT. We divide survivors by current employment status (working (full vs. part-time) and unemployed). Main outcomes are current employment status, work hours and work ability. Withdrawals are patients who were employed when diagnosed but not before HDT-ASCT.ResultsOf the 274 who completed the survey, 82% (N=225) were included in the final analyses. Mean age at survey was 52 years, 39% were female, 85% were employed when diagnosed, 77% before HDT-ASCT and 69% at survey. Employment before HDT-ASCT corresponds with a higher probability of employment at survey for a given symptom burden. In the most extensive statistical model, it increases with 37.3 percentage points. Work hours amongst withdrawals plummet after HDT-ASCT while work ability shows a rebound effect. The potential economic gain from their re-enter into the work force equals 2/3 of the average annual wage in Norway in 2012.ConclusionsFor a given symptom burden, staying employed throughout diagnosis and treatment is associated with a higher probability of future employment. These results favour policies for labour force inclusion past diagnosis and treatment increasing cancer survivors’ probability of future employment. However, we need more research on withdrawal mechanisms, and on policy measures that promote inclusion.
