This study examines whether Mongolian international students' university selection factors (International student management system, Residential conditions, Student support system, Educational service quality, University awareness) have a significant effect on university satisfaction. And it examines how university satisfaction affects university choice intention. As a result of the analysis, all of the selection factors have a positive impact on university satisfaction. And university satisfaction showed a positive effect on choice intention. This study is expected to be of great help to the university selection process for foreign students who came to choose Korean universities. For that reason, universities should pay great attention to the quality of educational services and the quality of professors and teachers, and continue to manage the attraction of international students.

Previous literature on students’ decisions and choices regarding universities contains a large number of factors that influence these process. This research focuses on two of these factors and its aim is twofold. First, it is analyses how prospective students’ study areas impact on the relative importance of different university selection criteria. Second, it examines whether the environment of residence (i.e., the size of the municipality) leads to differences in these criteria. The results obtained from a sample of 605 prospective university students who live in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha allowed us to conclude that there were significant differences in most of the selection criteria according to the field of study and the size of the municipality (i.e., five and six out of nine criteria, respectively). Some practical implications for the design of segmentation strategies and communication campaigns in the context of higher education institutions are presented in this work.

HEI selection is an important decision for all aspiring students of higher education and it affects the commitment, motivation to study and career prospects. The present study investigates the factors responsible for student selection of different colleges and universities across Oman. Data has been collected through questionnaire which was both distributed physically and through online mode to students of three private universities and nine private colleges in Oman. The sample size was 300 and consisted of foundation and first year students in diploma and undergraduate courses. The scale items were subjected to reliability and validity checks. Reliability of scale has been tested using “Cronbach alpha”, “rho_a” and “composite reliability”. The Average Variance Extracted (AVE) was used to test both convergent and discriminant validity of scale. In the present study SmartPLS was used to test the research hypothesis. The relationships between Fixed College Characteristics and HEI selection decision; College Efforts to Communicate and HEI selection decision; Student Characteristics and HEI selection decision, are found to be significant (t >1.96 at p <0.05). However there is no significant relationship between External Influence and HEI selection decision.

Abstract In the time of the COVID-19 pandemic the importance of distance learning is being enhanced, while formal, full-time, face-to-face university education is being converted to distance learning. The study explores the role of the Universities in distance learning market and reveals the factors that influence the students’ university choice. The regional embeddedness of higher education in the Western Transdanubian region is analysed, highlighting the catchment areas of the region’s universities. The educational commuting of distance learning students to the region increases purchasing power, has a positive impact on the rental market, the labour market and can boost future settlement. Commuting, university selection and training selection behaviours of correspondence and distance training of students is examined using questionnaires. The aim is to establish whether the university selection of correspondence training students is influenced by distance and by the characteristics of the student‘s place of residence. The findings show that distance is one of the main factors during the university-selection process in the case of any kind of distance learning.

PurposeUniversity selection in higher education is a complex task for aspirants from a decision-making perspective. This study first aims to understand the essential parameters that affect potential students' choice of higher education institutions. It then aims to explore how these parameters or priorities have changed given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning about the differences in priorities for university selection pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic might help higher education institutions focus on relevant parameters in the post-pandemic era.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses a mixed-method approach, with primary and secondary data (university parameters from the website and LinkedIn Insights). We developed a university selector system by scraping LinkedIn education data of various universities and their alumni records. The final decision-making tool was hosted on the web to collect potential students' responses (primary data). Response data were analyzed via a multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) model. Portal-based data collection was conducted twice to understand the differences in university selection priorities pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic. A one-way MANOVA was performed to find the differences in priorities related to the university decision-making process pre- and post-COVID-19.FindingsThis study considered eight parameters of the university selection process. MANOVA demonstrated a significant change in decision-making priorities of potential students between the pre- and post-COVID-19 phases. Four out of eight parameters showed significant differences in ranking and priority. Respondents made significant changes in their selection criteria on four parameters: cost (went high), ranking (went low), presence of e-learning mode (went high) and student life (went low).Originality/valueThe current COVID-19 pandemic poses many uncertainties for educational institutions in terms of mode of delivery, student experience, campus life and others. The study sheds light on the differences in priorities resulting from the pandemic. It attempts to show how social priorities change over time and influence the choices students make.

Descriptive analysis methods are used for responses and path analysis methods are used for the hypothetical test. To test the research instrument is used validity and reliability tests, then to change the data in the ordinal form to interval data using the Method of Successive Interval. The results showed that the respondents' responses indicated that the brand image and brand trust of universities in Garut Regency were very good. Furthermore, the variables of brand trust and brand image have a simultaneous and partial influence on the variable of choosing decisions. The article shows the importance of network technologies in teaching schoolchildren. The analysis of textbooks of informatics on the subject of teaching a topic related to the maintenance of databases is given, and the features of its presentation are highlighted. On the example of the implementation of the project “Entering the University”, it is shown how students of grade 11 can be taught to work with network databases. In particular, create and maintain them, use them in professional activities. A step-by-step description of the actions of schoolchildren when creating a network database is given (creating a table structure, fi lling the database with information, selecting information through the formation of a query, working with reports). A business game through which students better understand the purpose of database management systems is described. Examples of a possible violation of information security when working with documents of applicants in the university selection committee are given.
