Rayleigh wave exploration has broad application in engineering geological investigation, underground cave detection, highway nondestructive testing, etc. On the basis of introduction about the principle of transient Rayleigh wave exploration, the process of multi-channel transient Rayleigh wave exploration and data processing with an engineering example are stated. Compared to the field drilling histogram, reasonable explanation for the local deviation from the Rayleigh wave exploration result is given. Besides, the advantages and disadvantages of multi-channel transient Rayleigh wave exploration are also discussed, indicating a widely applicability of the Rayleigh wave exploration and some problems that need further research.

For engineering geological investigation, hydrographic surveys are particularly important. By operating the equipment, relevant technicians analyze hydrogeological data around the project. A series of corresponding measures were taken to ensure the smooth completion of the project. However, due to the inadequate completion of hydrogeological survey work, it has great harm to the later stage of engineering work, and even will lead to the final failure of the project. Based on this, this paper explores the hazards and prevention measures of hydrogeology in engineering surveys.

This paper provides a general note on the state of the art in the application of nondestructive testing techniques (NDT) for the detection of defects or deteriorations in metallic and nonmetallic oil and gas pipes. The advantages and disadvantages of each technique will be pointed out.

Nondestructive Testing (AKA NDT, NDI, NDE) is an integral part of any power generation program. Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is one NDT method used to determine the integrity of materials and components. Managers, engineers, quality control personnel and others often require a fundamental understanding of the nondestructive testing methods used in their operations. This paper introduces basic theory, advantages and disadvantages, typical equipment and applications of ultrasonic testing. It is designed to give the reader a basic understanding of ultrasonic testing.

Dynamically monitoring of rainfall information plays an important role in flood control. In order to change the backward state of past when forecasting rainfall only by the artificial, to improve the prediction accuracy, to measuring speed, and to expand the scope and measuring content forecast, after having got the depth understanding of technology development of the rainfall monitoring at home and abroad, a remote rainfall monitoring system which based on GPRS is designed. The system is mainly composed of three parts: rainfall data acquisition terminal, communication part and data processing platform. Through the field test, the system has the advantages of simple operation, stable and reliable work, fast and efficient, having broad application prospects.

Compared with conventional airborne remote sensing application to engineering geological investigation, High precision Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Remote Sensing (UAV-RS) technology can improve work condition with advantages of high flexibility, low cost, high efficiency and up-to-date situation acquisition. Especially, it has very important engineering significance for quick and urgent geological disaster reconnaissance along transportation lines. In the paper, some aspects of application to transportation-line (pipeline, highway and railway) engineering geological investigation were discussed. The concerned key points, including components of UAV-RS system, data processing workflow and image interpretation were analyzed. As a case study, a UAV-RS application project for transportation-line geological disaster investigation was given. The utilization of this new remote sensing technology successfully collected and discovered potential geological disasters and provided scientific data for timely decision-making.
