The paper presents the issues related to the operation of the operation process of the power supply system of highway telematics. A relationships graph was presented in the considered system, and the Kolmogorov-Chapman system of equations was derived to describe it. Drawing on those equations, relationships for calculating probability of the power supply system staying in state of complete usability SPZ, state of the impendency over safety SZB as well as the state of unreliability of safety SB were derived. Next, this enabled rationalisation of the operation process of the analysed systems.

The use of frequency-controlled electric drives in industry and municipal services is accompanied by the problem of their negative impact on the distribution network. As examples, the results of measurements of power quality indices in the power supply system of an oil producing enterprise and on the supply input of a railway traction substation are given. It is shown that the voltage subgroup total harmonic distortions (THDS) can exceed their rated permitted values in 100% of the measurement time.

The paper discusses transmission, reception, conversion and consumption of energy of laser and microwave radiation from Earth or space power plants. It proposes a classification of advanced systems for remote supply of power to spacecraft (SC). It addresses practicability of using remote power supply to SC under various operational conditions. The paper formulates the problem of evaluating the capability of the existing SC power supply systems to receive and convert emissions from additional sources. An analysis of criteria for the quality of pulsed or rapidly varying flow of energy into a SC power supply system. It reviews the structures of typical channels of power consumption in a SC power supply system. An equivalent circuit replacing receivers of pulsed or rapidly changing radiation is described. A math model is proposed for a power consumption channel operating under conditions of intermittent power supply to photovoltaic converters. Math modeling results are presented and analyzed. Chapter 7 follows the role of the grid in the emergence of partition as the preferred solution to the Palestine question. The deliberations over partition re-actualized the question of borders, dormant since the period of intense negotiation in the early 1920s. Again, the power supply system figured prominently in the deliberations. At this point, the network of power stations and electrical wire crisscrossing the land provided a thick materialization of the Zionist vision. This material reality was reflected in British deliberations and carried over into the U.N. Resolution 181 for the partition of Palestine, adopted by the General Assembly in November 1947. The same considerations played out on the battlefield, as the resolution triggered the 1948 War, from which the state of Israel and the statelessness of the Palestinians emerged in May 1948.

The methodology for calculating the reliability of power supply systems with autonomous and mixed energy sources has been considered. Autonomous sources are widely used in industrial power supply systems as primary, backup or emergency sources. The functioning and interchangeability of these systems has features that affect the reliability of power supply. The proposed methodology is based on the method of semi-Markov random processes and can be used for comparative analysis of the reliability of options for power supply systems. The methodology has been brought to software implementation and is accompanied by an example of calculating the reliability of the power supply system for stationary marine oil production platforms.

To ensure the stability of park power supply systems and to promote the consumption of wind/photovoltaic generation, this paper proposes a dispatching optimization model for the park power supply system with power-to-gas (P2G) and peak regulation via gas-fired generators. Firstly, the structure of a park power system with P2G was built. Secondly, a dispatching optimization model for the park power supply system was constructed with a peak regulation compensation mechanism. Finally, the effectiveness of the model was verified by a case study. The case results show that with the integration of P2G and the marketized peak regulation compensation mechanism, preferential power energy storage followed by gas storage had the best effect on the park power supply system, which minimized the clean energy curtailment to 11.18% and the total cost by approximately $120.190 and maximized the net profit by approximately $152.005.

Aim. Uninterrupted transportation process is ensured by the highly dependable and safe power supply system of railway transport. In addition, the railway power supply system provides power to external consumers. A risk-oriented approach to railway transportation management requires an infrastructure risk management and safety system. The main purpose of risk management in this area is to improve the dependability and safety of railway infrastructure facilities [1, 2]. Additionally, given the growing numbers of intelligent information systems, as well as automated railway transportation management systems, the task of ensuring functional safety becomes very important. In most cases this problem is solved by introducing redundancy that is understood as an exceeding complexity of the system structure compared to the minimal values required for the performance of the specified task [3]. The simplest way of ensuring redundancy is by creating backup capabilities, particularly standby duplication within the system of functional units and components. In order to evaluate the safety of the railway transportation power supply systems it is required to calculate the functional safety indicators of their components and system as a whole taking into account the factor of redundancy. This approach will enable the optimal redundancy architectures and ensure compliance with the assigned level of general system safety. That requires taking into consideration the complex structure of the evaluated facilities: presence of diagnostics systems, right-side failures, wrong-side failures, as well as their random nature. The paper aims to develop an applied algorithm of calculation and prediction of functional safety indicators using the example of railway power supply systems that can be used in both manual and automated calculation.Methods. The power supply system evaluated for functional safety indicators is, from the functional point of view, a sequence of function implementations, while the failures of its components are random and some of them cause hazardous events. In this case, system analysis commonly involves Markovian and semi-Markovian methods, as well as graph methods. The advantage of these methods consists in the capability to evaluate the functional safety indicators of complex systems that go into many states, which is also typical for railway power supply systems.Result. This paper examines the application of graph semiMarkovian methods for calculation of stationary and non-stationary functional safety indicators for components of power supply systems taking into account redundancy and right-side failures. This algorithm allows calculating safety indicators using the example of power supply systems and includes a set of incremental actions aimed at constructing the state graph, calculation of the initial and intermediate graph factors. An example is provided of calculation of the functional safety indicators of a graph of a traction substation power transformer.

The development of the optimal topology of power supply systems for various purposes is an intractable problem that cannot be formalized as a single task. This problem can be considered as a complex of tasks having a hierarchical structure – the hierarchy is present both at the functional and at the territorial levels. The main typical tasks arising in the process of developing of the optimal topology of the power supply system in a city microdistrict are highlighted, a formal statement of tasks is given, methods for their solution are proposed and demonstrated. Approaches to solving typical problems are built on the theory of combinatorial analysis, methods of heuristic modeling, genetic programming, methods for solving optimization problems on graphs.

The introduction of technologies for active-adaptive control of the operating modes of the power supply systems of coal mines can contribute to an increase in the energy efficiency of coal mining. High-response FACTS devices of the second generation can be used for dynamic reactive power compensation, voltage regulation and limitation of current and voltage harmonic components in conditions of sharply variable electrical loads of mining machines at a breakage face. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the implementation of FACTS devices in the power supply systems of coal mines can be performed using simulation methods.This article discusses the main approaches to the development of a simulation model of a power supply system of a coal mine, mining equipment and FACTS devices. The main results of modeling the joint operation of mining machines are shown. Conclusions about the effectiveness of the use of FACTS devices in the extraction area of a coal mine are made.

Increased freight turnover on railway transport inevitably leads to increased traction current in DC and AC traction power supply systems. The increase in traction current is already causing problems related to the normal operation of the 25 kV AC traction power supply systems. One of the adverse consequences of the increased traction currents is the increased rail-to-ground potential. This has already caused a number of accidents and related traffic interruptions on the Far Eastern Railway of Russia and other railway sections powered with alternating current. The study considers the problem of increased rail-to-ground potentials and provides basic formulae for calculating the wave parameters of the rail network and rail-to-ground potentials. Various methods are given for calculating rail-to-ground potentials for a 25 kV AC traction power supply system. Since in an alternating current system, expressions for calculating the potential are functions of a complex variable, the calculation of such expressions requires the use of special programs. Adaptation of existing methods to modern software and computing systems allows you to optimize and significantly speed up the process of calculating the “rail-to-ground” potentials, either considering the use of certain potential-reducing measures or not. A calculation method includes an algorithm developed for calculating the rail-to-ground potentials in the 25 kV AC traction power supply system for an inter-substation zone of any length with any number of electric locomotives within the zone.

Abstract The article presents issues concerning the power supply systems of closed-circuit television systems used at a highway toll collection point. The general diagram of the power supply system was presented, and then the reliability analysis was conducted. This enabled to develop a relationships graph, on the basis of which the Chapman–Kolmogorov system of equations describing it was created. On this basis, it was possible to set the relationships allowing to calculate the probability values of the system’s staying (in symbolic terms) in the following functional states: of full ability SPZ, of non-full ability SZB1 and SZB2, and of unfitness SB.
