A rapid development method of motorcycle styling design based on reverse Computer Aid Design (CAX) digital technology is addressed. The main objective is to improve a Research & Development (RD) team’s productivity by the effective integrity of existing digital design methods. An integrated motorcycle design methodology, Rapid Development Base on CAX (RDBCAX), is presented, which consist of CAD\CAM\CAE technology. It makes RD process more quickly and more effectively compared with the traditional design means. A case study on a company’s 250 Scooter development project is used to illustrate the whole process of the new method. The proposed methodology have a positive impact on the future development of the motorcycle design.

A customer involved digital NPD method is addressed. This study extends new product development (NPD) to a new field; Customer Involved Digital New Product Development Method addressed in this paper is based on integrated application of customer interaction, customer needs elicitation, CAD, CAM, CAE technology. It makes RD process more quickly and more effectively compared with the traditional NPD method. This study finds that the more effort on pre-NDP process, the less likely it might encounter risk of failure. Thus, a better NPD performance can be achieved by customer involved digital NPD method (CIDNPD). A case study of scooter NDP is used to illustrate the new method. We believe that the proposed methodology will have a positive impact on the future new product development.

A customer requirements driving NPD method is addressed. This study proposes a new method to elicit customers’ requirement, through which NPD team acquire product attributes and quality functional deployment. Customer requirements driving New Product Development Method addressed in this paper is based on integrated application of customer requirements elicitation, CAD, CAM, CAE technology. It makes STP strategy of NPD become more quickly and more effectively compared with the traditional method. This study finds that precise customer requirement elicitation contribute to NPD’ success, a better NPD performance can be achieved by customer requirements driving NPD method (CRDNPD). A case study of All Terrain Vehicle NDP is used to illustrate the new method. We believe that the proposed methodology will have a positive impact on the future new product development.

Since there has been a huge amount of transport infrastructure projects being proposed, planned and constructed over the past decades in China, this article aims to reveal the substantial dynamics of China’s rapid development of urban mega-projects. It analyzes Nantong’s metro project to use it as a case study – how it was being justified, approved and implemented, and what were the key driving forces within the whole process through official justifications and key informant interview materials. The urban metro system is supposedly an approach to achieve urban development objectives, a tool for growth and a way to a better urban life. We find inter-city competition as an underlying driving force that initiates such urban mega-projects with certain weight given to economic indicators in project appraisals within a largely local government-led and public-invested process. Furthermore, domestic economic performance and changing policy interventions also exert significant influence on project approval and long-term project development. Our findings echo some Western literature on mega-projects development and urban competition, while revealing other features and emerging issues relating to project initiation, proposal examination and implementation specific to the Chinese context.

On the platform of the UG Software’s CAD/MoldWizard/CAM components, the whole process of design and NC manufacturing of the plastic injection mold of a hair dryer’s shell was completed. The CAD/CAM process of the plastic injection mold was introduced by the practical application. The large advantage of the UG platform over the traditional method in the field of plastic injection molds’ design and manufacturing was reflected. The plastic injection molds’ design and manufacturing is a great challenge to the traditional design and manufacturing method, and the UG solutions can promote mold manufacturers’ ability of design and manufacturing remarkably.

Malaysia is the only country in South East Asia has local capability to manufacture car from concept until mass production. The manufacturing sector has contributed as the largest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for Malaysian economy. Thus, the decision of new government elected on 2018 to start a new national car project is the best decision to boost manufacturing sector to the next level. Currently, involvement of Malaysian SMEs in automotive manufacturing sector is still small and this time needs to be improved. Thus, new methods are suggested to help more SMEs to take part in 3rd National Car Project. The Characteristics of Potential High Skilled Automotive Entrepreneur (C-POSITIVE) and Rapid Development of Automotive SMEs (RADAS) will help related government agencies to selected suitable candidates to be Malaysian automotive SMEs. Besides that, the authors have invented Blo-Wiper concept to improve conventional windshield wiper which is ineffective during heavy rain especially for countries located at equatorial climate like Malaysia. The Blo-Wiper concept using two rain droplets removing process; blowing and wiping shown significant result to increase driver visibility based on preliminary simulation study. This white paper is prepared by the authors to help Malaysian government in 3rd National Car Project.

The existence of a laboratory in an engineering department is very important. The reality is that not all students can use existing laboratories in the engineering department due to limited laboratory space, tools and time constraints. The very rapid development of technology cannot be avoided. Active smartphone users in Indonesia reach over 100 million users. This proves that today's technological developments are very influential in everyday life. There are various kinds of technological developments that have occurred to date. One of these very rapid developments has led to digital technology which is increasingly favored by the community such as VR ( Virtual Reality ) technology which is able to provide the worldvirtual. Therefore, VR technology is used to solve student’s problems in accessing the laboratory. Where the VR technology takes a laboratory background. The utilization is in the form of virtual laboratory applications as digital educational media using VR technology which can later interact directly with practicum tools in the virtual laboratory application.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of digital technology could create a positive impact in teaching of Telugu concepts. Due to little exposure of the Telugu language in Mauritius, learners face difficulties in learning and understanding the language in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, communication and writing skills. The study focused mainly on how the use of cartoons could cater for all types of learners, how they can be used as a tool to allow a child centred learning and whether they promoted the understanding of concepts easily through the use of technology and brought motivation to learners. A study was conducted with two upper primary schools to find out whether concept cartoons could be advantageous in encouraging them in better understanding concepts. Cartoon Story Maker was used as an educational tool to teach the “Singular- Plural” concept followed by an interactive quiz as assessment to monitor the progress of students. Through both qualitative and quantitative approaches, focus groups, observation, and achievement tests were chosen as convenient methods to collect data. The findings revealed that there has been a slight increase in percentage of scores in class tests and that cartoon concepts have motivated the learners to learn the Telugu concepts and helped to improve their communication skills.

With the rapid development of online shopping in recent years, logistics distribution has received much attention from enterprises and online consumers. Logistics distribution involves many factors and complex processes; conventional qualitative methods are unable to provide an effective analysis. Thus, this paper sets a framework to solve the above problem. A case study of an E-commerce enterprise in Shanghai on logistics distribution is proposed to discretize the whole process and minimize the total costs. Then the AnyLogic software is used to simulate and optimize the system from three aspects, including routes selection, warehouses quantity, and warehouses layout. Finally, this paper analyzes the simulation results, which would provide some valuable references for practical logistics.
