The double C steel section is made of two C steels with gusset plate through bolts. A ridge joint of double C steel is studied through experiment under cyclic loading in this paper. Through the four specimens with different gusset-plate’s thickness and bolt spacing, we analyze the effect of the gusset-plate’s thickness and bolt spacing on stiffness, ductility and energy performance. At last we recommend the suitable gusset-plate’s thickness. The results can give a reference to the engineering application of cold-formed steel structure.

To understand the seismic performance of inclined joints with gusset plate between double C steel beam-column, in this paper, I used finite element method ABAQUS, and did a good performance in simulating seismic performance of inclined joints between double C steel beam-column. It executed six models by changing gusset-plate’s thickness and bolt space in this simulation. Elements of S4R can give a good description of cold-formed steel’s bearing-capacity, and coupling restriction simulated bolted connections well. This modeling method is facilitating, and the operation time of simulation is not long-playing, and calculation results are accurate. The results of this paper can give a reference to the engineering application of cold-formed thin-walled steel structure.

Site-built reinforcing rib composite wall is a kind of composite wall composed of reinforced concrete rib columns, rib beams and filling masonry. This paper mainly introduces the failure process and failure mechanism of this kind of composite wall under low cyclic loading. The wall has a good seismic performance and can be suitable for rural building structure.

Cold-formed steel structure is suitable for post-earthquake reconstruction since its good seismic performance and construction speed. Analyzing the dynamic characteristic of a two story office building by using the finite element software ANSYS. And the results show that: (1) in the time history analysis based on three types of seismic waves the lateral displacement of the structure and rotation between layers to meet the relevant specifications when confront the rare earthquake (2) Under the seismic loads, earthquake response acceleration amplification factor is smaller which indicating better seismic performance and it can be used in areas with high seismic intensity.

It requires higher seismic performance of buildings. Double C steel structures with gusset plate have better seismic performance than general concrete structures and steel structures, and few studies have looked at its bending joints. Through the experimental analyses on seismic performance of Double C steel joints with gusset plate, we get the conclusion that this type of joints have high bending capacity, stable strength degradation, obvious initial stiffness degradation, good energy dissipation and ductility, and look forward to the development and application prospect of this compound section.

This experimental study was conducted to evaluate the seismic performance of beam-to-column connection of mid/low-rise building. Four specimens with beam-to-column connections of SHN490 steel were prepared depending on joint types: (1) web welded & flange welded; (2) web welded & flange bolted; (3) web bolted & flange welded; and (4) web bolted & flange bolted. All of beam-to-column specimen size were used H-300 150 6.5 9. Relatively less stiff connections were made by using seat or web angles. Cyclic loading was applied at the tip of beam following AISC 360 load protocol. Applied load vs. rotation relationship for different connection are shown. Two connection with flange welded were governed by the panel zone strength but two connection with flange bolted were governed by the failure of seat angle with large rotation.

When the lateral stiffness of the frame flat column is relatively small, the strength of the frame flat column is not enough to resist the large horizontal earthquake force and seriously deformed, which leads to the structure fail and could not work normally. In order to study the bearing capacity and the deformation capacity, experiments of three specimens of high axial compressive ratio under frequency cyclic loading were conducted, in which the failure process were observed in detail and the failure mechanism of the specimens were researched, the failure type, the hysteretic characteristic were studied, and the effect of the axial compressive ratio, the ties type and the stirrup ratio on the ductility of the members were analysed.
