To understand the seismic performance of inclined joints with gusset plate between double C steel beam-column, in this paper, I used finite element method ABAQUS, and did a good performance in simulating seismic performance of inclined joints between double C steel beam-column. It executed six models by changing gusset-plate’s thickness and bolt space in this simulation. Elements of S4R can give a good description of cold-formed steel’s bearing-capacity, and coupling restriction simulated bolted connections well. This modeling method is facilitating, and the operation time of simulation is not long-playing, and calculation results are accurate. The results of this paper can give a reference to the engineering application of cold-formed thin-walled steel structure.

The double C steel section is made of two C steels with gusset plate through bolts. A ridge joint of double C steel is studied through experiment under cyclic loading in this paper. Through the four specimens with different gusset-plate’s thickness and bolt spacing, we analyze the effect of the gusset-plate’s thickness and bolt spacing on stiffness, ductility and energy performance. At last we recommend the suitable gusset-plate’s thickness. The results can give a reference to the engineering application of cold-formed steel structure.

The static and stability analysis of steel structure were taken according to steel structure work platform’s requirements and structural characteristics in a subway parking space by using the software model which is established by Pro/E software and implanted into the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench. The maximum deformation and stress in design load of the steel structure were calculated and the linear stress strength analysis of the key parts was carried out, also both the analysis and testing of the supporting pillar’s stability were performed. The results show that the structure model established by Pro/E and the calculation method are reasonable. Moreover, the calculation results are of high accuracy. The profile size is properly chosen and the structure bearing capacity and deformation meet the design requirements.

This paper presents a finite element analysis on the tensile stiffness of steel bolted connections which are fabricated from thin-walled cold-formed steel strips and their members. This type of bolted connection is usually used to assemble the diagonal bracing member in the light steel structure. Unlike the architectural steel structure, thin walled steel bolted connection cannot be simplified into a hinge joint due to the weak tensile stiffness of connection. The calculation of tensile stiffness of bolted connection is necessary to accurately evaluate the effectiveness of bracing system in the coldformed steel structure. Based on the existing test results and analysis results, finite element (FE) models with threedimensional solid elements were established to investigate the tensile stiffness of bolted connections between cold-formed steel plates under shear. The analysis with non-linear material and contact elements was carried out in order to predict the load-displacement relationships of bolted connections. Furthermore, a parametric study on single-bolted or two-bolted connections with different configurations was performed to study the relationship of connection tensile stiffness and structural parameters such as bolt diameter, plate thickness and steel yield strength. According to the stiffness results obtained from parametric study, six calculating equations for practical design of cold-formed steel bolted connection have been proposed. The calculation results of the stiffness equations are in a good correlation with those of FE analysis, and the proposed equations have been found to provide estimates of tensile stiffness of bolted connections with reasonable accuracy.

Based on the advantages of modular prefabricated multistory steel structure, a full-bolt-connected modular steel coupling beam-hybrid coupled wall system is presented. Further, a method of estimating the coupling ratio (CR) is proposed according to the continuous link method. A CR-based seismic design procedure is determined such that the structure utilizes the lateral stiffness of the shear wall, which is necessary to avoid structural damage under frequently occurring earthquakes. However, it also exhibits excellent ductility of the coupling beams, which is necessary for dissipating energy under infrequent earthquakes. Subsequently, nonlinear hysteretic analyses are conducted from finite element analysis software ABAQUS, and a parametric study based on the finite element technique is performed to identify the optimal value of the coupling ratio. Results indicate that the seismic performance of modular prefabricated HCWs was excellent, and the basic requirements for ductile behavior and lateral stiffness were satisfied for CR values from 50% to 60%. The obtained results confirm the accuracy of the CR-based seismic design method proposed in this study and are supported by the selection of the design parameter at the initial design stage.

The box-plate steel structure residence is a box structure with stiffened steel plates directly used as load-bearing walls and floors. In practical engineering, due to the functional requirements of the building, it is necessary to open door or window openings on the box-plate steel structure walls. To study the seismic performance of the box-plate steel structure with openings system, two three-story single-compartment box-plate steel structures with openings modular units were designed and fabricated according to the 1:3 reduced scale. Through the quasi-static loading test, numerical simulation, and theoretical analysis, the failure process, failure mode, lateral force resistant capacity, and hysteresis performance of the specimens were studied. The impact of the different opening areas and opening position on the seismic performance of the box-plate steel structure was emphatically analyzed. The results of the test indicated that the openings on the steel wall plate would reduce the initial stiffness and the lateral force resistant capacity of the specimen; the destruction of the box-plate steel structure with openings modular unit under the low cyclic loading effect started with the tear in the corner of the openings and ended with the tear in the corner steel wall plate. Then, the finite element analysis (FEA) models were developed to supplement the experimental study, and the comparisons were made between measured and simulated results on load versus displacement relationships and failure modes. On the basis of the stressing mechanism of the box-plate structure modular unit, the calculation equation of the lateral force resistant capacity of the box-plate structure with openings modular unit was put forward. Then, the proved finite element analysis (FEA) models were used for parameter analysis of different influence parameters to verify the proposed calculation equation. The results showed that the proposed calculation equation had high accuracy and could be used as a design basis for practical engineering.

This article researches seismic performance of the joint of cellular steel column and steel beam through simulation of the finite element software. With the change of axial force, we can attain the load-displacement hysteretic curves, skeleton curves under the different axial compression ratio, and then analyze their bearing capacity, ductility, energy dissipation and other mechanical properties. Results show that, the decrease of axial compression ratio is helpful to improve the bearing capacity of specimens. The joints of cellular steel column and steel beam have full hysteretic curve, good ductility and seismic performance.

Cold-formed steel structure is suitable for post-earthquake reconstruction since its good seismic performance and construction speed. Analyzing the dynamic characteristic of a two story office building by using the finite element software ANSYS. And the results show that: (1) in the time history analysis based on three types of seismic waves the lateral displacement of the structure and rotation between layers to meet the relevant specifications when confront the rare earthquake (2) Under the seismic loads, earthquake response acceleration amplification factor is smaller which indicating better seismic performance and it can be used in areas with high seismic intensity.

The article researches seismic performance of joints of cellular steel column and steel beam by finite element simulation. Finite element model is established by using the finite element software reasonably. Considering about the hole position and the distance of center of hole as invariant moments, under low cyclic loading we can attain hysteretic curves and skeleton curves etc. which are compared and analyzed in different opening rate by simulated software. The results show that for a certain axial compression ratio (n=0.45) of joints of cellular steel column and beam, the reasonable opening rate can improve the seismic behavior of the joints.
