Statistical analysis of load spectrum is an important part on structural fatigue life and reliability research, it is generally considered that axle’s load spectrum follows Weibull distribution. This paper tested ZL50 loader’s loading history of different working conditions , and obtained the corresponding load spectrum by rain-flow counting method, then analyzed three distributions’ (normal distribution, lognormal distribution, Weibull distribution) fitting degree of load spectrum and effect on the fatigue reliability. Results show that the highest fitting degree of distribution function should be used to fit load spectrum, which can reduce the error in structural fatigue reliability prediction.

Hangers are very important components for suspension bridges, which link main cables and stiffening girders. When in service, hangers are much vulnerable to fatigue loads due to kinds of traffic flows, which may reduce the remaining life of the hangers and increase the risk of losing public confidence in cable supported bridges. In order to quantify the reliability of hangers under vehicle loads, fatigue reliability formula of hangers is proposed in this paper. Based on the accurate analysis of vehicle load spectrum, the time history of hangers is simulated and maintenance strategy is proposed.

Due to the repeated action of vehicular loads, fatigue failure of suspenders of half-through arch bridge is main failure type. Usually the stress history of suspender is relevant with the vehicle load, dynamic property of structure and so on. In this paper, the traffic load spectrum investigation of Ha-Tong road is constructed through a 24-hour traffic flow investigation; And the space FEM established to get the stress response;Assume the fatigue performance of suspender as stochastic variable, the stress history of suspender is a stochastic process which changes with time, fatigue reliability analysis model is suggested based on accumulated damage model;Taking YIlan bridge as an example, the study on the effect of suspenders’ length and deck type are carried out. The research method and results can be referenced while designing or evaluating the same bridge type.

To study the fatigue damage of a cutter used for cutting cashew nut, the integrated<br />simulation platform is established with Hypermesh, LS-Dyna, LS-PrePost, and nCode GlyphWorks.<br />The simulation model is established by Hypermesh. LS-Dyna is used to calculate the k file.<br />LS-PrePost is used as the post-processing software. The rain-flow counting, load superposition and<br />extrapolation are executed using Rainflow module in nCode GlyphWorks. The analysis of the<br />fatigue damage of the cutter is executed using Stress Life module in nCode GlyphWorks. The<br />equivalent stress time history of different elements in the upper and lower cutters, rain-flow<br />counting histogram after load spectrum superposition, rain-flow counting histograms after load<br />spectrum extrapolation, and damage histogram of the cutter are obtained. The results show that the<br />cutter has excellent mechanical properties, and the minimum fatigue life of the cutter is about 495<br />days, which is a conservative solution.

Based on ABAQUS, the strain and stress on the drive axle housing is obtained by the static analyses. Through the model analysis, the inherent frequencies and mode shapes of front 10 order modes are obtained respectively. According to damage accumulation theory and the rain-flow counting method, and the amplitudes and mean values of counted cycles can be determined. Fatigue analysis of automotive drive axle housing under the sine load spectrum are analyzed by applying ABAQUS/FE-SAFE software, and the overall fatigue life contours and distribution of hazardous area are obtained. Under the results of analysis, the improved design of automotive drive axle housing is made. Therefore, the new methods for improving life distribution and design of automotive drive axle housing are proposed in this paper.

Road load spectrum is not only the prerequisites of fatigue reliability analysis and test of AMT(Automated Manual Transmission) actuating mechanism, but also the input and boundary conditions of CAE(Computer Aided Engineering). Based on analysis of AMT motion and force, the measuring points of road load spectrum are determined, and the accelerometers and strain gauges are installed. Then the road load spectrum of AMT actuating mechanism is collected on Xiangfan Automobile Proving Ground according to related standards. At the same time the acquired road load spectrum is analyzed, such as pretreatment, repeatability checking and statistical analysis. The results indicate that the acquired road load spectrum is well reliable and repeatable, which provides effective basic data for design, analysis and verification of AMT actuating mechanism.

Stress spectra are essential for estimating the structural fatigue and the fatigue life of railway vehicle structures. However, the data grouping and distribution fitting approaches employed by previous empirical data processing methods are excessively coarse and contain distinctive defects. To address these shortcomings, general theoretical distributions are herein corrected according to the requirements presented by lower stress amplitude data bounds, and converted into a Weibull distribution, truncated lognormal distribution, and truncated normal distribution for comparison. In addition, an innovative distribution consisting of a combined Weibull distribution and truncated lognormal distribution is proposed. The results of fitting to measured stress spectra suggest that the combined distribution has remarkable advantages. Stress spectrum extrapolation and fatigue damage calculation verify that the stress spectrum derived from the combined distribution provides the closest match of all distributions considered to that obtained from the measured spectrum, and therefore best represents the stress distribution at critical points during the practical operation of railway vehicles.

The dynamic load on drive axle housing has great significance for analyzing the strength of drive axle housing and studying the reliability life of drive axle housing, and road roughness has an important impact on dynamic load of drive axle housing. In this paper, the drive axle housing of agricultural machinery is select as the research object. Firstly, the dynamic model of the drive axle housing is established, and the vibration equation is calculated by Laplace transform and Laplace inverse transform, and then the vibration load time history is given based on the discrete data of road roughness obtained by field experiment. At last, the rainflow counting method is used to generate the load spectrum. The study has a certain reference and application value for the optimization design of drive axle housing of agricultural machinery.

It is difficult to have enough samples to implement the full-scale life test on the loader drive axle due to high cost. But the extreme small sample size can hardly meet the statistical requirements of the traditional reliability analysis methods. In this work, the method of combining virtual sample expanding with Bootstrap is proposed to evaluate the fatigue reliability of the loader drive axle with extreme small sample. First, the sample size is expanded by virtual augmentation method to meet the requirement of Bootstrap method. Then, a modified Bootstrap method is used to evaluate the fatigue reliability of the expanded sample. Finally, the feasibility and reliability of the method are verified by comparing the results with the semi-empirical estimation method. Moreover, from the practical perspective, the promising result from this study indicates that the proposed method is more efficient than the semi-empirical method. The proposed method provides a new way for the reliability evaluation of costly and complex structures.

To more accurately predict the fatigue life of components under the action of random loads, it is necessary to explore the influence of the interaction between the load sequence and the load on the life prediction. Based on the Manson-Halford method and Corten-Dolan model, this paper establishes a fatigue cumulative damage model that takes into account both the load order and the interaction between loads, and also takes into account the loads near the fatigue limit. The fatigue life of mechanical parts under random load can be calculated through this model, which provides a theoretical basis for life prediction under random load spectrum. Comparing the calculation results of the proposed model with the results of Palmgren Miner, Manson-Halford method, and Corten-Dolan model, it is found that the fatigue damage model established can reasonably predict the fatigue life of parts. Comparison and verification of examples further prove the accuracy and reliability of the proposed model.
