This study sought to resolve the current imbalance of demand and supply of the military instructors on the campus in Taiwan. Having witnessed the importance of a sustainable supply of certified military instructors to support the all-people-defense-education, the study first reviewed two versions of teacher training programs carried out by the Ministry of Defense and normative colleges. After exposing the weaknesses of these two versions of selection practice, this study continued with its recommendation. It is hoped that with its suggested concept of building partnership via outsourcing, professional identity of the military instructors can be elevated and ascertained. Specific contributions of this study are: the National Defense Education Division made sophisticated system of teacher education and teacher key capabilities. The purpose of this study was to describe the pattern of link and match of the demand and supply for productive vocational school teachers which should be carried out in the future. This study is descriptive qualitative with the grounded theory approach. The unit of analysis consisted of: policy makers at central level; policy makers at local level; productive vocational school teachers; Teacher Education Institutes (LPTK), and Non-Teacher Education Institutes (Non-LPTK). The data were analyzed using the three phases: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The research results are as follows. (1) The pattern of the demand for productive vocational school teachers has been fulfilled through such programs as Three Year Diploma for Vocational Teacher of Engineering, Bond-based Remuneration for Bachelor’s Level, Civil Servant Recruitment, Regional Civil Servant Recruitment, and Non-permanent Teachers. (2) Productive vocational school teachers supplied included LPTK graduates majoring in 22 vocational skills training programs and Non-LPTK graduates majoring in 45 vocational skills training programs out of 48 programs. (3) Productive vocational school teachers were distributed in three types of programs. (4) A system of vocational teacher education was conducted by increasing and refining. (5) Link and Match pattern of demand and supply for productive vocational school teachers involved integration of supply for LPTK graduates and that of Non-LPTK graduates, the distribution of such supply, and the pattern of implementation of vocational teacher education.

Abstract In order to provide well-prepared specialists in the military field, the Army ensures the training of its own human resources through initial training programs and then continuous training within the military system and environment. The quality of these training programs, which consume a lot of time and resources, must be evaluated as a process not only as a product, in an authentic and realistic way, according to certain relevant aspects: components of the curricular structure of the training program, quality of adult pedagogy, quality of experiential approaches in teaching and learning, and the difference between the initial and final level of the graduates’ competencies. There are a number of issues that can be discussed related to training programs evaluation, and they can be overcome by raising awareness and conceiving the evaluation explicitly for the quality improvement purpose.

Drawing from United Nations Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security and the Vancouver Principles, this paper highlights key factors to be addressed in military training and education to ensure that military members are adequately prepared to protect children affected by conflict and to enhance military capabilities to participate in the prevention of the recruitment and use of child soldiers.  Informed by feminist theories and analysis, this paper argues that military professionals are better prepared for the protection of children when they are given the opportunity to explore gender concepts in relation to their own socialization to the military and if they are provided with the right theories and tools to understand and respond to gender and intersectional dynamics of children and armed conflict. The paper suggests that while content that illuminates gender constructs and their relation to the security of children is crucially important, determining the right pedagogic approaches that support the effective training and education of military professionals is equally vital.

The US engages in extensive training and education of foreign militaries, often through exchange programs carried out at the different military services’ staff and war colleges. Researchers have recently explored the way in which military training can affect civil-military relations in the host country, but not much work has studied whether military training actually leads to increased US influence in these states. This paper proposes a soft-power theoretical framework to argue that foreign military training can create affinity for the U.S. that can in turn result in more pro-U.S. voting behavior in the UN General Assembly. It further expands on the military training literature by distinguishing between different military training programs.

Reflection is an important part of self-regulation and self-regulated learning promotes academic success in a variety of settings. In order for students to develop self-regulation, teachers can start early by modeling and explicitly teaching self-regulated learning skills. These skills should first be practiced during teacher training programs by pre-service teachers and teacher educators. The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the development of self-regulation through the practice of reflection among pre-service teachers within teacher education programs. This chapter begins with describing the construct of self-regulation and the influence of teacher self-regulation on students. Next, the authors discuss the research and recommend research-based strategies that support the use of reflection as a tool to increase self-regulation skills among pre-service teachers. In the final section the authors discuss implications for teacher education programs and faculty.

The current scenario of teaching chemistry has introduced the visual tools as a way to solve the cognitive demand of students and teachers. These tools contribute to facilitate the teaching of various chemistry topics, making visible the microscopic interactions. Despite the wide variety and functionality of the visual tools, teachers have been faced with the un-known, since they are not prepared to use these tools in the classroom. Motivated by this fact, research on pre-service and in-service teacher educational programs has shown paths and initiatives aiming to assist and prepare the teacher to use the visual tools. This study presents a reflexive approach of some researches about the use of visualizations and teacher training programs (in-service and pre-service). Based on the trends presents in selected pa-pers, it was concluded that researchers raised the ideas of teachers about the uses of these tools. This can base initiatives to work with these conceptions, solving doubts, questions and fears of using the computer. The teachers show interest in use these tools in their classes showing the importance and the current necessity of courses that enable the teacher to use visualization tools. Although there are some proposals for teacher training programs, there is much more to study and research in this area. Key words: chemical education, teacher education, visualization.
