In this paper, the terbium -doped nano-HA powders with strong fluorescence was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and its crystal structure, morphology and fluorescent properties are characterized by XRD, TEM, XPS, ICP and PL spectroscopy. Results showed that with the doping concentration of Tb3+increasing, the aspect ratio of Tb3+-doped HA particles decreased, while the fluorescence intensity excited by ultraviolet ray at 272 nm is significantly enhanced. With pH values increased from 6.5 to 10.0, the aspect ratio of Tb3+-doped HA decreased greatly, and the morphology of nano-Tb:HA particles changes from rod particles to equiaxed particles and the actual doping content and the fluorescence intensity tends to increase correspondingly, which can be explained that under alkaline solution, Tb3+was more easier entering the HA crystal, and the Tb3+would substitute the Ca2+ in both hydroxyapatite Ca(Ⅰ) and Ca(Ⅱ) site, which may block the active growth sites of the seed crystals and resulted in the growth rate and the ratio of length to radius decreasing.

The compound exhibited good photochromism both in solution and in PMMA film. In PMMA film, The open-ring isomer of the diarylethene 1 exhibited relatively strong fluorescence at 427 nm when excited at 320 nm. The fluorescence intensity declined along with the photochromism upon irradiation with 297 nm light. Using this dithienylethene 1b as optical storage was performed successfully.

A novel photochromic diarylethene based on thiophene and a six-membered aryl moieties 1-[(2-methyl-5-(p-methylphenyl)-3-thienyl)]-2-[(2-trifluoromethylphenyl)]perfluorocyclopentene(1a) has been synthesized. Its properties, including photochromic behavior and fluorescent properties, have been investigated. The results showed that this compound exhibited reversible photochromism, changing from colorless to purple after irradiation with UV light both in solution and in PMMA amorphous film. The fluorescence intensity decreased along with the increase of solution concentration. The diarylethene exhibited relatively strong fluorescence at different solvent.

A new asymmetric photochromic diarylethene bearing a benzofuran unit was synthesized, namely [1-(2-methyl-3-benzofuranyl)-2-(2-methoxyphenyl)]perfluorocyclopentene (1o). Its photochromic and fluorescent properties were investigated, respectively. The compound exhibited reversible photochromism, changing from colorless to red upon irradiation with UV light both in solution and in PMMA film. The diarylethene exhibited relatively strong fluorescence at 410 nm in hexane solution and 462 nm in PMMA amorphous film when excited at 300 and 385 nm, respectively. The fluorescence intensity decreased along with the photochromism both in hexane and PMMA film upon irradiation with 297 nm light.

Nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) were synthesized in a one-step hydrothermal technique utilizing L-lactic acid as that of the source of carbon and ethylenediamine as that of the source of nitrogen, and were characterized using dynamic light scattering, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy ultraviolet-visible spectrum, Fourier-transformed infrared spectrum, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and fluorescence spectrum. The generated N-CQDs have a spherical structure and overall diameters ranging from 1–4 nm, and their surface comprises specific functional groups such as amino, carboxyl, and hydroxyl, resulting in greater water solubility and fluorescence. The quantum yield of N-CQDs (being 46%) is significantly higher than that of the CQDs synthesized from other biomass in literatures. Its fluorescence intensity is dependent on the excitation wavelength, and N-CQDs release blue light at 365 nm under ultraviolet light. The pH values may impact the protonation of N-CQDs surface functional groups and lead to significant fluorescence quenching of N-CQDs. Therefore, the fluorescence intensity of N-CQDs is the highest at pH 7.0, but it decreases with pH as pH values being either more than or less than pH 7.0. The N-CQDs exhibit high sensitivity to Fe3+ ions, for Fe3+ ions would decrease the fluorescence intensity of N-CQDs by 99.6%, and the influence of Fe3+ ions on N-CQDs fluorescence quenching is slightly affected by other metal ions. Moreover, the fluorescence quenching efficiency of Fe3+ ions displays an obvious linear relationship to Fe3+ concentrations in a wide range of concentrations (up to 200 µM) and with a detection limit of 1.89 µM. Therefore, the generated N-CQDs may be utilized as a robust fluorescence sensor for detecting pH and Fe3+ ions.

Anilido-imino-based ligands have been used to generate new zinc complexes, including rare zinc phosphanide and phosphinodichalcogenoate complexes. The fluorescence intensity of these compounds is highly dependent upon the non-ancillary ligand.

In this work, SnS1−xSex ternary nanobelts were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method without the assistance of surfactants. The structure, morphology, microstructure, compositions, chemical valences, phonon modes, and optical band gaps of the SnS1−xSex nanobelts were characterized in detail. The results indicate that the SnS1−xSex nanobelts have uniform one-dimensional morphology and are single crystals with high crystallinity. Se is incorporated into the SnS lattice to substitute for S-forming ternary SnS1−xSex alloy. With the increase of Se doping concentration, the optical band gaps of the nanobelts gradually decrease from 1.15 to 1.01 eV, confirming the tunable optical property achieved here.

An asymmetrical photochromic diarylethene 1-[2-trifluoromethylpheny-2-[2-methyl-5-(3,5-difluorophenyl)-3-thienyperfluorocyclopentene (1o) was synthesized and its phtochromic, fluorescent properties in both solution and PMMA films were investigated in detail. This compound exhibited remarkable photochromism, upon irradiation with 297 nm UV light, the colorless solution of 1o turned to plum with a new visible absorption band centered at 544 nm (ε =3.75 × 103 L mol-1 cm-1) attributable to the closed-ring isomer 1c.The fluorescence intensity of diarylethene decreased dramatically along with the photochromism from open-ring isomer to closed-ring isomer in PMMA films and in hexane. The emission intensity of diarylethene 1o in a photostationary state was quenched to ca. 64% in hexane and 27% in PMMA films.

The spherical hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HAP) were synthesized by hydro-thermal method, and calcium nitrate, terbium oxide, diammonium hydrogen phosphate were used as raw materials with the help of surfactant L-Asparagine. Meanwhile, different amount of Tb was added to investigate the effect of different terbium dropping amount on the properties of HAP. The structure, morphology and luminescent of the obtained HAP that was characterized via X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), fluorescence spectrometer (PL) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Results showed that spherical HAP which in average of 30 nm with good dispersion showed remarkable fluorescent properties and their maximum emission were observed at 543 nm, which could be also excited at uv light region of 377 nm.The optimum mole fraction of Tb was 3%. Therefore terbium-doped spherical HAP of prepared sample would be tracked by flourescence.
