The paper is under the background of residence architecture and Tibetan culture, taking the settlements and architecture of Zhonglu Danba as the object of research, taking architectural culture of other ethnic groups as reference. Inspect the vernacular architecture on the aspects of architecture and culturology, and to conclude the common ecological wisdom in residence construction. The paper also does case study of renewal, revise the traditional architecture aim at the flaws, giving the idea of” excessive growth”, in order to fulfill the demand of local resident.

The term ‘vernacular’ and ‘traditional’ in architecture context actually has a root meaning which is almost the same; both have the same meaning that can be attached to one form of architecture work which is oriented on locality aspects and historiy of its existence. However, how can we distinguish the two terms? One way to find it out is to do a case study on two traditional architecture buildings: Balinese buildings and Minangkabau buildings taken as the sample study. In general, both building have two criteria: culture philosophy and adaptative modernism. Through descriptive analytical methods, the two building types were analyzed to acquire the definition of the building shapes which can be classified whether they belong to vernacular or traditional. The results show that vernacular architecture is a form of original work which is specified with the content and a very strong local and contextual philosophy proper to its time, while the traditional architectural building is a vernacular masterpiece recognized by acclamation and hereditary within a very long time.

This paper describes the process in which the network for those who are engaged with individual fields has been rebuilt and the local community reorganized by adding a new group of persons to the existing one through sharing the common prospective to designate the Traditional Architecture Preservation District, in another word to inherit the local culture. We have conducted action research in the field of Traditional Architectures Preservation District in Tochigi City. This research points out that the social vulnerability of the community could be addressed by raising the consciousness on “protection of community with the help of all,” and by reorganizing the community, which would lead to comprehensive disaster prevention.

<p>Application design and role in carpets from different regions of Iran, represents the effects of nature and each region according to the customs, different doctrines, attitudes, different ideas and perceptions that to the design and creation deals. Region of Khaf and Taibad of southern Khorasan are rural conception graph of nature and beliefs of people of the region that are appeared as geometric and semi-geometric. In the study the attempt is to present motifs and colors in the southern regions of Razavi Khorasan carpets that are less explored, examined, and derivate. According to the initial hypothesis carpet designs of carpet in the areas are influenced by neighboring nations. The research questions that will be addressed in the study include: what are the common motifs in South Khorasan carpets, especially in the regions Khaf and Taibad? To what extent the pattern has root in neighboring ethnic groups and immigrants' carpet weaving?</p><p>In this descriptive and analytical study based on fieldwork and librarian study, first a significant number of contemporary carpets were observed and photographed in the area index motifs has derived and then the motifs were named based on local weavers' information and accommodation of neighboring ethnic motifs and categorized by content.</p><p>The results indicate that geometric patterns affected by ethnic Baloch and Turkmen motifs and semi-geometric patterns by Arabs Afshar and central regions of Iran. Many of the acquired maps have no clear name and identity and require rooting in neighboring cultures, especially in Sistan and Turkmen carpet. </p>

Abstract. In the age of globalization, it becomes necessary to assess the possibilities for the conservation of the characteristic identity features of vernacular architectural heritage. The changes undergone in traditional dwellings appear to be on different scales in societies that are considered developed, and in those that are developing, while the idea of development itself can be the main precursor to change. A study underway aims to identify the nature of the transformations occurring both in traditional architecture and in the society that builds it through case studies and to determine the influence of the concept of “development” in these changes, spotting the potential role of cooperation in the conservation of vernacular architectural heritage and its capacity for sustainability. The analysis of the first case study, the village of Baasneere (Burkina Faso), has made it possible to implement a methodology based on the review of literature, quantitative and qualitative research techniques and the use of three types of cataloguing fiches on three aspects (urban, typological, constructive) of dwellings under study. Although it needs to be adapted to the specific characteristics of the new case studies, the methodology proposed has been proven valid in the study of vernacular settings and their transformations and is also expected to be of use in establishing comparisons between different contexts.

Abstract Schottky diodes are semiconductor switching devices with low forward voltage drops and very fast switching speeds. This paper provides an overview of the common failure modes in Schottky diodes and corresponding failure mechanisms associated with each failure mode. Results of material level evaluation on diodes and packages as well as manufacturing and assembly processes are analyzed to identify a set of possible failure sites with associated failure modes, mechanisms, and causes. A case study is then presented to illustrate the application of a systematic FMMEA methodology to the analysis of a specific failure in a Schottky diode package.

There has been a growing interest in the last decade in extracting information on Suspended Sediment Concentration (SSC) from acoustic backscatter in rivers. Quantitative techniques are not yet effective, but acoustic backscatter already provides qualitative information on suspended sediments. In particular, in the common case of a bi-modal sediment size distribution, corrected acoustic backscatter can be used to look for sand particles in suspension and provide spatial information on their distribution throughout a river crosssection. This paper presents a case-study where these techniques have been applied.

Wastewater and sewage sludge contain organic matter that can be valorized through conversion into energy and/or green chemicals. Moreover, resource recovery from these wastes has become the new focus of wastewater management, to develop more sustainable processes in a circular economy approach. The aim of this review was to analyze current sewage sludge management systems in Scandinavia with respect to resource recovery, in combination with other organic wastes. As anaerobic digestion (AD) was found to be the common sludge treatment approach in Scandinavia, different available organic municipal and industrial wastes were identified and compared, to evaluate the potential for expanding the resource recovery by anaerobic co-digestion. Additionally, a full-scale case study of co-digestion, as strategy for optimization of the anaerobic digestion treatment, was presented for each country, together with advanced biorefinery approaches to wastewater treatment and resource recovery.
