The ferrimagnetic glass-ceramic based on SrO-Na2O-Fe2O3-FeO-P2O5-SiO2 system was prepared for hyperthermia application using aqueous aolution-melt method. Using the aqueous solution solvent evaporation, we obtained the molecular-scale homogenously glass precursor. The precursor was completely melted in a lidded platinum crucible placed in an electric furnace at 1480°C for 1h and then annealed in a furnace at 550°C for 40min.The annealed glasses were heat treated at 1050°C for 1h to obtain the glass-ceramics. The crystallization of the glass systems with different component has been systematically investigated by using XRD, TEM, as well as vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The glass-ceramics with P2O5=5.0wt% show a strong magnetic, which contains highest value of specific saturation magnetization of 24.89A•m2/kg.

Room temperature magnetic property of the samples were investigated using a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer(VSM). The evolution of magnetic properties in these glasses as a function of P2O5 quality concentration was discussed.

Ferromagnetic glass-ceramics could be used for magnetic induction hyperthermia. A ferromagnetic glass-ceramic in the system SiO2-Na2O-CaO-P2O5-Fe2O3has been prepared by melting of the coprecipitation-derived precursor. Using the coprecipitation-derived method, the molecular-scale homogenously glass precursor was obtained. This glass-ceramic contains a unique magnetite crystals precipitate during cooling from melting temperature without any nucleation and crystallization treatment. The crystallization of the glass systems with different component has been systematically investigated by using XRD, as well as vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM).

Based on the SrO-Fe2O3-FeO-SiO2-B2O3 system, the M-type strontium hexaferrites glass ceramics has been prepared through heat treating the melted glass. Using the aqueous solution solvent evaporation and melt method, we obtained the glass precursor of molecular-scale homogenously mixed compound. The precursor was completely melted in a lidded platinum crucible placed in an electric furnace at 1480°C for 1h and then annealed in a furnace at 550°C for 40min. The crystallization of the glass systems with different component has been systematically investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Micrographs (TEM) as well as Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). It is found that Fe3O4 crystal precipitated during naturally cooling the melt from 1480°C to anneal temperature. Moreover, the hexaferrite glass ceramics with the main crystal phase of SrFe12O19 was obtained after heat-treated at 860°C for 2 hours. The magnetic properties of the obtained hexaferrite glass ceramics indicated that the saturation magnetization and the coercivity were 8.1A•m2/kg and 114KA/m, respectively.

Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) glass ceramic was successfully synthesized by aqueous aolution-melt method. The as-prepared base glass was heat treated at different temperature and investigated by XRD and VSM. The annealed glass at 580°C shows the formation of magnetite structure with saturation magnetization of 10.6A·m2/kg.And the annealed glass heat treating at 850°C for 6h, show the formation of garnet structure with saturation magnetization of 18.2A·m2/kg.

The aim of this study was the fabrication using a sol-gel technique of a new glass-ceramic with potential use in dental applications. The characterization of the composition and microstructural properties of the produced material confirmed the similarity between the new sol-gel derived glass-ceramic and a commercial leucite based fluorapatite dental glass-ceramic. The produced material has potential application in dental restorations and it is expected to exhibit better control of composition, microstructure and properties due to the intrinsic advantages of the sol-gel preparation method.

AbstractHot isostatically pressed (HIPed) glass-ceramics for the immobilization of uranium-rich intermediate-level wastes and Hanford K-basin sludges were designed. These were based on pyrochlore-structured Ca(1-x)U(1+y)Ti2O7 in glass, together with minor crystalline phases. Detailed microstructural, diffraction and spectroscopic characterization of selected glass-ceramic samples has been performed, and chemical durability is adequate, as measured by both MCC-1 and PCT-B leach tests.

A glass-ceramic belonging to the CaO-Al2O3-SiO2(CAS) system with different composition of spodumene and doping the Li2O with amount between 0~2.5 % (mass fraction) were prepared by onestage heat treatment, under sintering and crystallization temperature at 1120 °C for two hours. In this paper, differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometry and bending strength test were employed to investigate the microstructure and properties of all samples. β-wollastonite crystals were identified as the major crystalline phases, and increasing Li2O was found to be benefit for the crystallization and tiny crystalline phases remelting, resulting in the content of major crystalline phases increased first and then decreased with increasing the expense of spodumene. Meanwhile, the crystal size can be positively related with the content of Li2O. The preferable admixed dosage of spodumene can be obtained, besides the strength of glass-ceramics can be more than 90 MPa.

In present work, two conductive filler (carbon fiber with Nickel (Ni) coatings and carbon fiber with Nickel/Fe3O4 nanoparticle (Ni/Fe3O4-NPs) composite coatings) were prepared by electrodeposition. Microstructure observation indicated that the coatings were deposited uniformly on the surface of fiber. Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding test showed that the two conductive filler has good saturation magnetization and EMI shielding effectiveness. The conductive filler of carbon fiber with Ni/Fe3O4-NPs composite coatings was more excellent. They are promising for application in electromagnetic shielding materials.
